Hello Everyone.
Congrats to all those whose visa was granted recently.
Quick update: I received wife and new born back to Nigeria last week. Had to change flight date though.
For the record, God bless firsttymum and others who posted details about the 2 bags (23 kg) for baby on united. My wife used this from Dallas to Lagos and no issues at all. Check in 4 bags (23 kg) plus diaper bag, hand luggage (10kg), breastpump and baby car seat free.

I kept calling their US office to confirm and they did, I even sent mail to their customer service in US and got affirmative reply just to harm wifey when going. Meanwhile the united office in Nigeria said It is only one bag (10kg)....and that was shocking. Just shrugged it off and went with the US office response. all in all, they offer is valid for now.

Once again, thank you all.

Yeepee.... Congratulations darling

My dear people,

I am wondering if I am the only one that read the part where Girlloom said she is waiting for visa money as most people keep saying she should get out of the place. I noticed that one other person said she should ask her family for money though.

Heirloom, please pardon my question, do you work? I have noticed men tend to behave the way your husband is behaving when you don't have your own source of income. And at the people saying what her husband should have and should have not done, please note that every marriage is very different and when people tell you what they can take or not, we all have different thresholds, you will be surprised at what some people take from their spouses.

Abeg, if you are happy with your marriage aside of this in law issue, protect your home. This you can do by apologizing to all the parties concerned (it's painful I know, I will not be able to share my experiences here because it's a public forum and it's a very small world), try as much possible never to tell your husband anything wrong that his family members do (it's very hard my darling). Always say only positive things about them. One day they will misstep and it will be glaring that even though the are his people they have faults like every other person. Trust me on this, it always works but it's a game of patience.

The person I blame in this current fiasco is Girloom herself, pardon my castigating you. Even without knowing the background, JW, Favoredgirl(i think) and I advocated that caution cos it's in law issue, you for give background.@Vavum, you said the man should also have thought of what this would do to the family, the man has nothing to lose o, it's her marriage that is at stake.

It's unfortunate that in this part of the world, we treat wives as if our son is doing them a favour, which should not be because it's an exchange of value. The MIL issue, I can't really blame her for lashing out cos such things hurt especially when it's about our kids, but patience is endless in a Nigerian marriage, sometimes am tempted to say 'f. .k it, your son isn't doing me a goddamn favour' but I hold myself. An in law once asked me where I got a fair baby from, my Mum was there and was livid, I smiled sweetly and didn't utter a sound, I be like 'go do DNA test , that's the last you will see the child' . I know people who are lucky to have lovely in -laws but if you and yours don't see eye to eye, best thing is distance.

Please don't leave, manage them, do some damage control, don't let them come between you and oga, block the SSN and never mention it to your husband.

On a lighter note, please Girloom people plenty here wey you go dey call 'Aunty' ooo. Personally, I like it when people form Aunty for me cos if we went enter cab, obviously na Aunty go pay nau, abi how you guys see am?

Hian.... I advocate tell ur husband every damn thing. Update him steadily.
If she pretends her husband will never know, and her husband will never b able to defend her. By the time she can't take it again and flares up, her husband will b shocked where d reaction is coming from.

SO TELL YOUR HUSBAND EVERYTHING.... EVERYTHING SINGLE THING.

Very true.. My wife stayed with her family for nearly 4 months... her family were so nice.. They even gave us their car to use plus gas money sometimes sef. They bought so many gifts for our baby and gave her plenty money.. before we left we opened an account for her with nearly $2k in there.

Some people naturally just have bad attitudes

I testify to this. We stayed almost 4 months with my Uncle and his family and there was no drama. They used to take me for my hospital appointments and drop me at the mall most times. My Uncle's wife stayed with me and momsie through out labour (27hrs), till delivery, planned my baby's naming ceremony. We received lots of gifts (Xmas etc in cash and kind). Thank God for kind hearted people, angels in disguise. Only God can reward them.

cheesy cheesy ... firstty ooo cheesy , how ya been? You just bone ya fiful since!

I second telling hubby EVERYTHING, every sneeze, every look.... we don't know when marra go pass be careful.

This aunty thing?, it is one of the easiest thing on earth for me, you don't even need to ask, sisi mi, egbon lagbaja comes with the territory... E NOR REMOVE ANYTHING FROM ME!! & e nor mean person na bush ghel. smiley

My Iyales & Iya okos (the senior big bros wives & elder sis of hubby's) insisted their teenaged kids didn't need it at that time, now some of them are almost 30 & some older, the pronoun "eyin" is dole .... can't just imagine looking at a 30+ married man/woman & call dem name gbaga cos dem buroda dey call am too!!

Tradition is sacrosanct, Literacy & civilisation don't make a difference in some families.. so when we advise people, we should be mindful of cultural differences.

@TLKmama,

Lucky me that I've never had major in law issues so maybe I don't understand some things, however I am 100% unwavering that MILs& FILs are our parents & should be treated as we would our own parents... I cant picture many people exchanging words with their parents while their sis or bros is standing right there...

This is not in any way intended to make her feel bad (or worse) but it is what it is....

Girlloom is being harassed & they are not being nice or fair to her at all, so it's justifiable that she had to clap back, it just wasn't the wisest of decisions especially when her husband wouldn't back her up or put his foot down on some things.

I do pray that the grace to keep her home the Lord will repose in her....

My dear, coming here was a massive mistake. I am 30 and this lady is 34, I knew I had entered one chance when she told me to attach Aunty to her name and uncle to her husband. Few weeks after I arrived here, I had a chat with my husband on bbm that I was being treated like a maid, this lady went through my phone while I was sleeping, read the chat and got upset. My husband made me apologize to her for invading my own privacy. Despite the fact my pregnancy was high risk, this lady turned me into a semi maid. Things I haven't done in my own house I have done here. She once instructed me to warm food for her 2 year old, my son started crying and I went to attend to him, she asked about the food and I told her my son was crying, her response was 'so you left my son's food because he was crying, let him cry now' Her son comes back with all sorts of sickness from daycare, she gets upset when I try to protect my child. Now my son is ill, caught a bad cold, thanks to her son sneezing on his face severally. I have had sleepless nights in the past 2 days and will have to take him in tomorrow and pay as we have no insurance. Back to what happened today, she said I was ungrateful because I asked why they opened my son's envelope...imagine? My husband delayed in sending money for his visa and that's the only reason I am still here. Her husband was able to pacify her to let me stay saying what would people say back home. Let me also add that she keeps saying she and her brother were very close before he met me and I want to change him. I plan to change my ticket to the earliest date possible and I am still going to call the IRS. Apologies for my uncoordinated rant, I am upset that I am in this kind of situation. Left my spacious house to come and chop insult in this cabin.
Hmmmm, its obvious she is 1 of the troublesome ones, and hubby can't take a stand cos it's his sister and It's their house, since damage control didn't work there's no need to pamper the issue call the IRS just before you leave so whatever investigation would be done when you r back home cos as it stands you can't stay there on your next missionary journey so you might aswell just do the needful.
I have to give it to you tho you are very patient and calm having endured all this for close to 4months beats my imagination
Am sure you are better informed now,and on your next trip if it's only your accommodation money you can provide then you get the choice of where to stay and not been stuck with individuals that feel they can walk on water because they provide you with food and a highly tense accommodation you can hardly breath in.

Dear Friends,
Could you please advise?
Which is the better to pass and enter Texas, through IAH airport Houston direct, or take 1 stop flight to New Your, then take internal flight to Houston?
Your opinion will be helpfully

A direct flight to houston is fine as long as you are armed with your burden of proof, but if you don't mind the slight inconveniences e.g the baggage allowance for local flights are much less than international so you might end up paying for the excess if you have 2 bags of 50lbs.

You knw... they did this thing to my brother when we were teenagers, and d worst thing is dat he was set up by someone in the neighbourhood, his mum used to sell corn byz d roadside.

One day bro was passing and stopped to buy corn, Dats how d guy started gisting with bto. Then anoda guy joined dem and dey started talking of dollars. D guy sed he has dollars in hs car dat he wants to cleanse but he is afraid that they may catch him if he drives alone. Dat if dey follow him he will give dem a share. Ds was in d 90's when 419 was really reigning.

Dats hw they nw took my brother to one baba o, to cleanse the money. They sed they had to buy a chemical of 30k, once dey cleanse d money dey will split it three ways. Dey nw swore oath o, dat no one should leak d secret. Dats hw bro came home and was looking for dad's room key frantically. My aunt asked him wat d problem is? He sed he can't talk dat dey av sworn oath. She nw raised alarm, my uncles gathered and forced him to talk.

Oh boy dey nearly lynched d corn sellers son who denied it all. Dats y I sed I kinda believe her story.
