rottennaija: Don't be surprised, pdp is only trying to save its battered image by tongue-lashing the present FG and also trying to launder the ugly image of Jonathan, hence the reason for a thread like this. Don't expect anything good comment about PMB from pdp fans even if he tars the entire road in the south east. Their strategy is play dirty and try to get back into aso rock by 2019 or else pdp will be awaiting final burial by then. 3 Likes |

I can only blame the some of these BuhaZombies who knew the antecedent of Mumummadu Buhari while in office in 1984 to 1985 and blindly went for a man who have not created anything, but only destroys the gains of his predecessors through his thoughtless policies and zero understanding of the workings in a public sector with his NEPA certificate. As a military leader, Buhari killed the Naira, killed the Economy, destroyed our relationship with the rest of the world, polarized the country on tribe and religion, impoverished Nigerians to the extent that Nigerians were queuing up for essential commodities like Milk, Rice and Bread. On Buhari’s return in May 2015, he has within this short period, turned Africa’s biggest and fastest growing economy to a shrinking one. Crashing the GDP from about 7.0% to 2.4%, Inflation jumping to 11.6% from 9%, over 2 million Nigerians losing their jobs, FDI dropped by over 85%, Maternal and Infant mortality is at all time high as result of poverty, malnutrition and diseases. In a dwindling revenue, Buhari did the unheard of, instead of reducing the budget, he increased the budget from N4.3trn to N6.07trn. He presented the most fraudulent, inflated and irredeemably padded budget. What a clueless and useless President Nigeria has that in a recession period like this when the oil price is falling, Buhari of a man did not deem it fit to appoint a single Economist among the 36 names in his cabinet. The president’s inability to set up an economic Team after 10 months in office and only resorting to intuition, thumb rules and application of Adam and Eve economies in this 21st century and globetrotting around the world seeking to polarize and islamise his country that is a secular state by hobnobbing where he has no business traveling to, making policy statements and comments when he is outside of his own country and supporting some moslem fundamentalist to become a sovereign nation while there is a serious genuine of the same agitation in his home country of which he has already committed war crime killing unarmed Biafra protesters and suppressing them and their leaders using autocratic means. Look at the President’s deliberate interventions in the electoral process and his use of security agencies to intimidate the opposition and the assassination and killing of people of diverse opinion. President Buhari who benefited in one of the best organised elections in Africa just few months ago have been unable to successfully organise any election in the country. His determination to ensure that his APCshit members and cronies win all the elections has lead numerous killings, kidnapping and in most cases annulling results or declaring them inconclusive where his party is losing hopefully, as can be evidently seen here in Rivers state. He will never succeed in trampling upon our rights here in Niger Delta. Never! 2 Likes |

Corruption is perversion of moral values. Even though stealing may be seen as a corrupt practice but corruption extends beyond stealing. A teacher sleeping with his student is corrupt, a doctor that runs down public hospital and diverts patients to his clinic is corrupt, everyone demanding for and collecting bribes are corrupt. So many things our people do at work places are actually corrupt practices. 2 Likes |

Cambridge Dictionary of English defines Corruption as illegal, bad or dishonest behaviour. The question then arises, 'is stealing an illegal, bad or dishonest behavior'? If the answer to the poser above is yes it means stealing is corruption and if no it means stealing is not corruption. I am bemused however by the attempt by the ICPC boss to redefine stealing and corruption. Any attempt at perverting the public law is tantamount to corruption. Stealing is a subset of corrupt practices or corruption just the same way that Toyota is a subset of the class of items called vehicles. Can anyone reasonably argue that Toyota is not a Vehicle? 2 Likes 1 Share |

"Stealing" can be different from corruption. Consider these Scenarios 1. A government official is driving on the road with his convoy and escorts; with their sirens and unruly nature, they bully other road users out of the way and even damage their vehicles. That IS CORRUPTION even though it is not stealing! 2. A government official dips into his department's budget and diverts one billion naira to his own account. That is STEALING; it should not be dignified with the nicer word "corruption" - (though technically, it can also be called corruption). 3. A clerk in a government office demands egunje/gratuity/'PR' of 2000 naira before releasing a form to a member of the public who needs it. That IS corruption --- but not quite stealing. 4. A person goes to an airport or government office; he offers a 'gift' or really bribe of 5,000 naira to officials so that he can do/get something he is not lawfully entitled to. That is CORRUPTION ---- even though it is not stealing. 5. A male university lecturer pressurises a female student into sexual relationship with the threat of failing her. That is CORRUPTION ---- though it is not stealing. 6. A student offers a gift or bribe to a lecturer ---- so as to get better marks or even exam questions. That is CORRUPTION even though it is not stealing. 7. A state governor collects security vote from federal allocation and diverts it into his own account for personal use. That is STEALING and is really only dignified by the word "corruption"; the governor is a thief or "stealer" not merely corrupt. So you see, when understood properly, the statement that "ordinary stealing, they are calling it corruption" is actually correct! 7 Likes |
