Good evening people.I must commend the relentless efforts put together by the team behind this threads.I have bn a member on nairaland since 2007,but I don't even know how to use it until early last week when I was searching forward r answers and I eventually found nairaland again.
sorry about the 'story' intro, now to the issue bothering me.
I applied for a b1/b2 visa in october 2013 and was refused.one major thing I heard the VO said was 'you had a malaysian visa in 2010 and you did not go,so I have doubts that you can fund this trip'.To cover up for that earlier,I LIED that my wife was heavily pregnant around that time, and I had to wait behind, coincidentally, she gave birth to a set of twins.
The following year october,I applied for a visit visa to UK,and was refused because there was a period of 2 months between when I printed my statement of account and when I made the application.
Last year,I went to Dubai alone and in september,I went to Ghana with my wife.(we got married last year, but she is the same person I have on my application form to the US back in 2013.
Now we are planning to apply for a US visa within the next 8 weeks hopefully.
please gurus in the house, when we appear before the vo,what should I do/say if the question of the baby lie I told comes up as we r still ttc.
thank you all.

Wilful misrepresentation of a material fact may lead to adverse immigration consequences. This may also cause adverse consequences for your wife especially if you appear together for future interviews. You lied to the visa officer you got married in 2013, I'm afraid the statement must have been recorded during the interview. For the pregnancy, of course you can always defend that, but no one will teach you how to cover your lies with more lies here.

Your marriage was legalised/you contracted the marriage in accordance to law in 2015 (Married) so my brother work on the rest. Can't say more than that here. Go clean to the next interview.

Good luck

To cover up one lie you need more lies.

You could have been living with d woman b4 legally getting married from 2013 to 2015. It happens all the time.

The 2013 preg could have been lost or miscarried. Dat one too de happen.

Good evening all. For those who travel to the US for visitation, is there a law that you must hold a particular amount of dollars while travelling?

Hello house, I am glad to come across this trend. I normally on here to read about things and leave but this time around this trend is targeted at me lol.

I wish to visit US and I have been very careful not to go to US embassy with stupid documents. Let me kindly throw my lil profile

My name is Afeez
Spent almost all of my life in Osun except when I traveled out of the country for my degree cert. I attended Uni of East London in Malaysia, I left Nigeria in 2010 and I do come back home once in a year, I finished my degree and did my grad in Nov 2013 so I finally came back to Naija in Feb 2014. During my study in M'sia I visited Singapore I was given 30days visa but I only spent 3days. Now, when I came back to Nigeria, I worked with a record label for 3 or 4month then I resigned as manager because I have to start my youth service and I also started my own business in Osun state.. I run a computer business and training center, study in Malaysia office where I rep some institutions in Malaysia and I also own music studio. July 2015 I finished my NYSC and In 2015 I got South Africa visa twice but I didn't go because the two occasions it's group visa with friends and they couldn't get flight fee and I can't go alone(I don't want to look like dubious person) I have good income, I do maintain at least 800k - 1m plus balance..

Now, I need an advise on how I should prepare myself.. Can I be considered for a visit visa? Can I go for a conferee excuse or should I just say I want to go on vacation. I am single... OR I shouldn't bother to apply for US visit visa.. Please I need an advice.. God bless you all

Hello House, pls I need advice on the best option to take. Below is my story.
My family (hubby, myself and 2 kids then) applied for a B1/B2 visa which was granted in 2012. We did not get to use it as I became pregnant and it was high risked and so flying was not allowed. A month after giving birth hubby was sent on cross posting and my family was again granted with L1/L2 visa. We all relocated to Houston in 2013. We have been vacationing in Nigeria once annually as part of the transfer package. Now hubby has been transferred back to Africa with Nigeria as our base. We intend to travel for the summer vacation and so I renewed our initial B1/B2 in January via Dropbox except my last baby. Because the visa he has is L2. I have applied for his B1/B2 visa and picked a date for his interview. My problem is I just discovered that I am pregnant and I will like to give birth in the US. My question is do I take my son for his interview and disclose my intention as I have already contacted my doctor and hospital and funding is not a problem. Or let hubby take him for the interview while I write a letter to the embassy notifying them . I will appreciate your suggestions that will be in the best interest of all as I don't intend to lie.

Everything you've analysed here doesn't bother the visa officer. He/she is more interested in your intent and purpose of travel to the US and whether or not you'll leave the US at the end of your temporary stay without breaking immigration law.

You can apply at anytime if your travel reasons are valid with strong ties to Nigeria that will compel you back home e.g. business, employment, family, inheritance and possession.

You shouldn't have a problem; go with your son for the interview and explain the situation to the officer face to face so everything can be on record for future applications. Since you've established communication with a hospital, go with a doctor's correspondence, letter and budget sheet.

The CBP is more concerned about their border, but if you're genuinely seeking entry as a visitor, you're not expected to go in without holding enough funds that will cover your stay.

Good morning Family.
Please with all due respect and vis a vis the advice proffered to lookers191.
Let's not forget the purpose of this thread and nairaland rules. When a poster has lied or misrepresented, advicing him to further lie or cover up or be smart or any other euphemism is in my opinion not why we are here.
Even if it is , its against NL rule 9 to promote illegal acts. People should be encouraged to be honest through hell and high water and even giving advice on how to cover up past lies undermines the advice we usually proffer to applicants to be honest.

Again vos read this thread. People from other countries and continents read this thread. Our pr is down the drains already. Let's help elevate the status of this our green pali na! Haba!
Note: this post is not a direct attack on anybody and I apologise if anybody feels slighted at any of the references I made but I do not apologise for the message. I stand by it. God bless

Thank You. I agree with you a 100% . He shot himself in the leg. For no discernable reason.
There is no point sugarcoating it or being politically correct. The poster goofed and now has to make his ways right.

@poster if indeed you were misled then, the ist step to change is taking responsibility for your actions. Nobody put a gun to your head then.
This is another chance to wipe your slate clean.
You can check the birthing thread and and read somebody's transcript. She lied the ist time and was summoned for interview . The vo was impressed with her honesty and confession....
I will post that transcript to buttress my point

My short profile is there so that someone can advice me what is tangible things in my profile I can file with my document to achieve my visit visa.. That's one. secondly, I want to know maybe I need to just go to embassy that am going for vacation or I should find a reasonable conference in my field and try to attend it.. I know if I choose vacation I will need to make research on where I want to go....

NOTE: Those who go for conference don't use it as an excuse to get into the US, they use it to acquire professional knowledge, fraternize with people in the same industry, get industry reviews and updates and in turn it adds some professionalism and impetus to their job and general life.

Searching here for what to tell the VO as a reason for your travel to the US already show you don't have any reason being there, if you do... you'll be convinced about it and what it is.
