It's not always the outcome though, so you could end up wasting your precious time on the earth in the name of persistence.

Who persists for a girl who already has a guy? Is he stupid? Is he that jobless?

The best thing to do is to find something useful for yourself when she says she has a guy already, or when she says she can't date you, instead of persisting and hanging around her.

99% of the time, guys who persist after a girl has told him she has a guy are vain fellows, who are just after the 'vanity' of the woman, and nothing else.
