Most of d students, u dont knw wat d pass 2tru jst 2av smetin in dia belly not 2 talk of paying fees. Nd d skul authority is putn a condition of paying fees b4 tekn dia exams. 4d records no student gets his/her cert without clearance. nd dis clearance means no fee is left unpaid, so tell me y dis students shouldn't b allowed 2tek dia exams. if u talk rubbish agn God go punish. Stupiid foolll

You are retarde.d for this comment if they can't afford education must they derail those who can? University education is not by force if you can't afford it go and learn a trade.

There are rules in every organization, uniport has a right to make their own rules that students have to adhere to, you seem like one of the touts in support of this crazy protest, I heard a student died, died for a pointless cause, that students blood is on your hands.

And by the way you ignorant numbskull this is nairaland, this is a free world, and I have a right to my own opinion, if god punished people for every comment made on Nairaland then we'd all be on trouble so you spewing trash means nothing to me, from your comment I can tell the kind of person you are, one that thinks with his arseholee.

No P, everything is happening very fast, Aluu now is feeling the vibration, people running helter skelter and yet the police have not come.

Casualty is said to be 3 and rising.

No light in Aluu by the way.

Only In Nigeria will this nonsense happen. And to even think almighty UNILAG students pay 17500 Naira for school fees. Thats less than 100 dollars at CBN rate o.

And yet its the same Schools that will say they want world class facilities. Every Public University should be autonomous and run themselves and should only receive research grants and endowments based on quality of research from government.

If You attended a public univeristy in Nigeria, Congrats to you. You were on scholarship. Theres no way the school fees you paid could have funded your uni. The repercussion of this is that the Nigerian Government is spending heavily to subsidize the school fees uni students pay thus resulting in a neglect of public primary and secondary schools. Goodluck opened 7 new universities. WHen last did any Nigerian government open a new Federal Government college in any state ? When last did any state governor open a new public primary school ? The end result is that most of us reading this will never send our children to public primary schools which we should if it was up to standard. A cheap quality private primary school in Lagos costs 30-50 thousand naira per term and from 100k per year.

On the Average, you will discover that in Nigeria it is more expensive to get quality primary education than University Education. Ask around and you will see quality primary school education is much more expensive than what these students are protesting for.

This is wierd because primary school is for everyone while university is not. But what can we do when government continues to heavily subsidize Higher education while neglecting the foundation ?

Well said.

People keep repeating that trope that university education is a basic right. It is not. What is a right is basic education

From the nonsense you scribbled here, it is obvious you have never been to any University or you are a spoilt brat in private university who doesn't know what it means to struggle for survival. 45, 000 statutory fee + 30,000 non-statutory is a big deal for the average Nigerian in this turbulent period. If you don't know what to type, just read and shut that gutter of yours.

Lol..

First of all, I am not a student.

Secondly, attending a Private University does not make you spoilt.. grin That statement just makes you appear like a hater. grin O! And I didnt attend a private University either.. Not cause I couldnt afford it, but I dont rate any of them highly..

Also dont tell me about struggle, you dont know what I have been through. But that does not take away any validity from my post. Universities need money to run. Free Education system in Nigeria is a failure.

The Poor should all have access to scholarship programs, loans and grants. The solution to making university education accessible to the poor has never been to make University tuition free.

Thanks...

U guys misunderstood the whole issue. The issue here is not about 45k sch fees, its about losing a session if u hv not paid up till now. This is just d first semester and most of us is at the verge of losing a session for not paying fees in the first semester of a session. what we are saying is dat dey should give us time to pay and let us write our exams.

Students of uniport have completely blocked the major road leading to inter states popularly known as east west road over high rise in school fees.

The school management have imployed a new method which means that if students don't pay there fees they would be forced to repeat a whole section

Exams which is billed to start today have been put to a stand still due to the on going protest

Even after second semester those affected will not still pay. They will now bring another logic of paying when they graduate.

Lol.... grin grin grin

I wonder how many people have stoned you.. grin

Please dont wonder my brother, as we currently speak, most half decent primary and secondary schools definitely charge more than 12,000 Naira as basic school fees (PTA Levy, uniform, sports levy, e.t.c not inclusive.)..

Meanwhile that is what a UNIBEN University student pays as tuition.. grin grin grin

And one wonders why NYSC is filled with dumbassess. grin

There may be more to this than school fees, believe you me because adequate notice had been giving.

More than 2 lecture free days, majority of the students having read just wanted to write the exams and move on but for the less than 5%.

Why the inscription "Lale must go" prof Ajieyinka started it and not from prof. Lale's time. They should focus on protesting for reduction and not for the VC to go

Edited:: Look at UNIBEN Tuition...

Before I was done reading through your post, I knew you were going to mention Uniben and I wasn't disappointed grin.
On a more serious note, what is your grouse with Uniben, I've noticed most of your posts are laced with negative comments about that noble institution, why?
