Yes, same here. I made plenty of phone calls to different hospitals and it is expensive. So am settling to deliver in whmc houston.

Thanks. Not pregnant though so I have enough strength to waka till I get. Lol

I don't mind opening account with any bank because of PTA. The only issue is that 3/6months wait to get it.

modath:

Yep & since they are the new bride in town, heard they've started the 6mths thing... try to waka there & see, luck....nothing ventured, nothing gained..

Try Unity as well, cool bank.... wish you success in the waka, preggy & stress, not easy.

Its not supposed to be an issue I believe...and maybe it also depends on airline as well...I travelled both to the UK and the US with a passport that was to expire within a month...actually my passport expired the day after I left the US. The airline I used for that journey was Arik.

Seriously Modath you are a clown! Thats how my colleague is now asking me why I am laughing like a crazy woman.

modath:

E funny now but that scene + the endless wait nor funny then ooo, after positive thinking, my mind will then veer to how i wont even bother to call my H . Dearest to pick me up.. Would just take the next flight to Lag , enter lag before calling him & just hide in my MIL's bedroom till baby come.... grin cheesy

Frenemies plenty, nor be me person go laugh, but God didn't abdicate the throne, it was the wait that was long & nerve wracking, the main interview wasn't so bad..

However on my return journey back to naija with baby, dem still go lay siege for plane mouth, planning to cancel Visa if i use medicare (& maybe collect "dem" pikin) but my receipt was in my hand luggage, so e pain dem small!! Nor be me, if dem plan to catch today, na next week be their portion..

If not what happened in 1914 would repeated have itself!! tongue

Chicago POE........ ..uhhhmmmm

So after opening account and going through the wahala, Standard Chartered is saying I must prefund my account ...which they will debit whilst they go and bid at CBN...PTA not guaranteed still.

Me no likey because if I get in another bank, my money would have "hooked".

Looking at GTB and Stanbic as my focus areas...will update the house...

Many thanks to those who have contributed on this forum. Inputs have been very informative.

Folks, kindly educate me on this issue. My wife is planning to give birth in the US, and she is expected to leave Nigeria next month (May). She already has a US visa as she travelled twice last year. However, my son and I intend to join her in the States sometimes before or after her delivery.

Question (1): Would you advise that my son and I apply for the US visa before she leaves for the US (so we can all appear together) or after she gets to the US?

Question (2): Would she be required or allowed to join us during the visa interview since she is not a primary applicant?

Thank you.

My advice based on my on personal experience.

She should go with you people and for her to be allowed to enter she has to carry the baby with her while you enter with your application. Also, when filling the application you should indicate that you are travelling with your wife and kid. The fact that she has been to states twice will make a the visa a work away. She should also go with copy of her visa. when i applied for my visa because my wife already gotten hers, the VO advised me to go with her after already told the man that will be traveling close to her delivery date. I think they always prefer the husband accompany his wife to travel in other to make it easy for the wife.

intend to go the standard chartered bank route, and my acct officer assured me of high chances of being given...just that it takes 10 working days...he also mentioned the prefunding issshhh.

u may consider hedging ur bets...ie try 2k from scb and try the other 2k usd elsewhere..............ie prefund/request only 2k from standard chartered bank.......

My response might be a little too late, let me share a trick that saved me from NICU when my son had jaundice. Slice white onion into a bottle of water, let it soak for few hours, put a littlein your baby's bottle(without the onion). PS: Don't let the doctors see it because they would take it from. When asked, tell them all you giving your baby is water. They declared my son Jaundice free before we left the hospital. Don't stop giving him till hes eyes are clear. Works like magic.

Thanks. The thing is that the girl sounded so pessimistic, she said that only school fees requests had been granted, that SC had not given any PTA over the past 4 weeks.

I will probably do that, share the risk across 2 banks...thanks
