you see the love you have for your parents/family?! then the day you feel the same way about a partner then you wont be too far from TRUE love (if you have a fukced r/ship with your family then disregard this)
IMHO, love and true love is mostly the same thing, with slightly different intensity/aim. love has levels, there is the love for a buddy, then love for family/friends, which has the same intensity as the love for a partner... and then there is that extra push where true love finds itself... where your own being as an individual doesnt matter as much as what you guys are sharing. you cant find true love before finding love, and it is simply the obvious result when the LOVE plant has been watered right.
its an emotion where you elevate to a state of mind where that feeling takes over and overlooks some things that love may not. see these old people who 1st loved each other for a certain reason (physical/emotional etc) and then after few decades, they havent got that physical anymore but yet are still deeply loving one another? they've elevated to that true love state of mind state, where you guys are TRULY one.

its easy to love and accept a person because of a few details about them, but finding that person that connects with you, to the point where you can let go of yourself, open up yourself, fully and that everything about them makes sense in your life, isnt easy.

sadly many african brothas cant trust a person fully enough to remotely fall in love with anyone.

i wish we can see one on one and have this convo..meanwhile from your definition i see where you are actually coming from and my reason why i still stand on my ground...

like you said up there about finding that person that would make you experience ''true love'' is hard and to me, the chance is 1% cus of the sacrifices required by both party to make it stand the test of time..another thing i will like to draw your attention is the fact that is not a one sided thing meaning both have to give it their all, not where one party is giving his or her all and the other is not. Also in this current world we are in, if we leave sentiment and face the realities in life, we would understand more about the true love itself..

if you ask a person to describe the person he or she would want to spend the rest of their life with, they would come up with a list and image of what they want that person to look like and possess in characters and possessions.meanwhile, they forget the fact that such a person may not want them as the someone who they would like to spend the rest of their life with as well..

the above to me is a cheap way to give up while blaming it all on whatever unrelated issues, instead of keeping searching for that one and only. even if the chances were 0.001%, you still have a duty towards "yourself", to seek for that person who will take your life from good to FANTASTIC, that person that will make you discover the best ever version of yourself. yes, its "possible" to live the rest of your life without true love, but what is the point of living, if you aint remotely hoping to WIN?

A) disappointments in love are a learning process and shouldnt be used as a reason to stop believing in love.

B) the above in bold is such a cheap, lazy, coward way to look at love, because i doubt you ever stopped seeking to be rich, simply because you had a few obstacles, so why act differently with love?!
if a man remotely hope to find true love then he MUST open up to his partner so that she can know/understand/feel/read and possibly love his true self. the only way to achieve that is if/when they both stop treating each other as an enemy, and instead as allies who will have your best interest at heart. when the time is right, you MUST open up and let your partner into your MIND/SOUL/SPIRIT/THOUGHTS and also be fully honest about your FEARS/FUTURE/HOPES/DREAMS.
you can NEVER find true love if you dont... and therefore, this is the reason why many brothas and sistas dont. how can anyone think they can find true love with a "stranger"?! makes no damn sense.
