Ekiti under fayose disgracing Southwest since 20th century good for nothing governor

Same with Ondo state here. Remember that Ekiti was coined from Ondo State. Maybe we are daft in this region, I don't know. Did you know that you can get to Lagos through the sea from Igbokoda in Ondo state. Since the Atlantic stretches to the boarders of Ilaje, I see no reason why a world class port cannot be constructed there. We can be a commercial hub like Lagos and Ore can become the most plied transport route in the country.

We need real technocrats, not Mimiko (snake) and Fayose (parrot).

I think igr can be said to be a funtion of three factors

1) Population,

2) level of economic activities in the state as regards new companies/firms,organisations created both by government and private sector in addition to existing companies and
3) government recognising the need to create more tax avenues, increase taxes if need be and maintaining existing taxes paid to the government which infact is also dependent on the attitude of the citizen as regards their willingness to pay the taxes as at when due....

Using ogun and bayelsa as a case study,

Ogun is more populated, ogun has more economic activities going on within its borders. As for citizens willingness to pay, that I cant tell but I know on an average once a tax has been paid by an individual, it is most likely he will continue to pay his tax...

This is just my opinion as a layman, ain't an expert.

you are absolutely right.

I believe some credit should go to the former governor of Ogun state, Otunba Gbenga Daniel ;I remember him clearly saying that Ogun should be to Lagos, what new Jersey is to new York and that was the beginning of the foundation in attracting "spill-over" investment from Lagos to ogun state.

A state like BAYALSA should be doing better, in terms of revenue from oil and gas but obviously most of the oil companies are resident in porthercourt.

then a state like Akwa Ibom is really disappointing.

I am sure you saw it in the news last week whereby during the budget bruhaha the FG listed states that the FG owes. Ogun tops the list with about 200bn. Kemi is a very brilliant lady you won't understand what she helped ogun achieve, tho this thread is a testament to one of her works. 4th in IGR above some oil producing state is a huge deal. There is also a framework on ground, I expect ogun to outclass delta before 2019.

IGR or No IGR these are states that control 90% of Nation money transaction

Lagos, 6 other states control 90% of cash transactions in Nigeria – CBN

Read more at: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/05/lagos-6-other-states-control-90-of-cash-transactions-in-nigeria-cbn/
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has said that Lagos and six other states control about 90 per cent of cash transactions in the country. The other states are Rivers, Anambra, Abia, Kano, Ogun and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). CBN Deputy Governor, Operations, Mr. Tunde Lemo, who disclosed this, said this was the reason why the abovementioned states were been slated for the second phase of the cash-less project billed to kick off on the July 1st. Acknowledging that there have been and there are still challenges with the cashless project, he said most of them are being resolved. He listed one of the major challenges to include interconnectivity in some of the clusters, which he said is being addressed. Lemo said that besides the use of alternative channels of transactions such as Point of Sales (PoS), the cashless project would be driven through the telephone. Nigeria is second in number of mobile phone users in sub Saharan Africa after South Africa, which is also the largest economy in the region. Lemo also said the cashless policy had been successful in Lagos, adding that the number of Point of Sale (PoS) machines in Lagos has increased significantly from about 5,000 when the policy took off last year, to over 150,000. “We still have a few challenges, but if I look back, I really would say that we have done a lot to transform the payment system in Lagos through PoS,” he said. The cashless policy, whose implementation began in Lagos in January, last year, is aimed at reducing the dominance of cash in the system. The policy specifies penal charges for individuals and corporate organisations that want to withdraw or lodge cash above prescribed limits. Under the policy, the CBN pegged the daily cumulative cash withdrawal or deposit limit for individual accounts at N500,000 per day and N3 million per day for corporate accounts. Just a week ago, the Chief Executive Officer, Electronic Payment Providers Association of Nigeria (E-PPAN), Mrs. Onajite Regha, said the coming on board on the next phase of the cash-less policy in July may raise the value of electronic funds transfer in the country to N160billion per day by the end of the year. The E-PPAN boss, who spoke in Lagos, said the current value of electronic fund transfers – put at N80billion per day by the CBN, would most likely double because there would be a lot of changes, which would compel people to use e-Fund transfer channels. The Nigeria Interbank Settlement System (NIBSS) is handling transactions worth about N20billon daily, while the Nigeria Electronic Funds Transfer is conducting about N60billion worth of transactions daily. NIBSS provides the infrastructure for automated processing, settlement of payments and fund transfer instructions between banks, discount houses and card companies in Nigeria. It is owned equally by all licensed banks in Nigeria, and the CBN. Discount houses operating in Nigeria also hold substantial shares. A NEFT payment is an irrevocable fund transfer instruction

You can't tell me Edo is more economical viable than Kano or Anambra state with other state ahead in IGR, during the period CBN listed Anambra among seven that control nation transactions, her IGR was 500 million,97% of investments in Anambra are owned by Anambarians, any government that want to increase tax always frighten to avoid castigation by the masses the little efforts gov Obiano is putting now i know how business communities are attacking him, which I know they will use against him during campaign I guess Kano government is facing peculiar situation, Anambra, Kano, and Abia are commercial and industrialized states so low IGR doesn't change their position in nation economy

Very low but not bad based on Nigerian standard.

That figure puts SouthWest on third position for regional ranking

1. Lagos = 268,224,782,435

2. South South = 179,096,237,974

3. South West(excluding Lagos) = 71,728,635,492

4. South East Total = 62,726,688,189
_______________________________________

5. North West Total = 48,579,503,540

6. North Central Total = 38,781,494,308

7. North East Total = 26,117,872,322
Obviously, the South West figure of 71B excluding Lagos is made up of FIVE states compared to South East's 61B from FOUR States, doesn't really show any supremacy of those SW states..

See south East with their 5 states doing very great , if South East had 6 states and there was no marginalization like closing down the business of people unnecessary , denial of the basic right of an international airport for so long a time and blatant refusal of the federal government to open up a deep sea port in the nearby coastal states of Rivers, bayelsa, cross river and Akwa Ibom , these states would have gone very far in independence from oil cash

Ponponkon should come and defend the low figures for Abia state

Eboyin's 2014 IGR was used for 2015 summation of Southeastern states, which is the 62,726,688,189 the OP posted.

Except you're being delusional that Ebonyi generated x2 of what was generated in 2014 for 2015. Anything short of that, SE ranks below SW(excluding Lagos)

That was my response to someone who had same opinion as yours. SE's IGR for 2015 = 62,726,688,189 for the whole 5 states in SE (Eboyin's 2014 IGR was added to the rest SE to come up with the 2015 SE IGR).

BTW, Higher IGR doesn't translate to supremacy.

Most of Ogun's debt are owed due to Federal projects the state government embarked on. That's why Ogun is the most owed state by the FG, about 200B+ as released by the House of rep in March.

Remove FG's debt from Ogun's debt, what you're left with is nothing much.
