irondome:

2nd diploma would fetch additional 50 for transferable skill. That's something to work with

If he gets points for studying in canada, he will be fine.but there's nothing like dat at the moment.

Please I would like to confirm if one can use only the 6 months fixed deposit statement to apply without including savings or current account statement. Thanks

Also, is it mandatory to include a bank statement to prove salary payments. Not sure I can retrieve the bank statement for salaries paid by my past employer six years ago.

I quite agree with you.

International students tend to think PR is their rights. They need to realise that it is a privilege that there is a route that leads to PR. A lot of students in UK spend huge amount of money on BSc. and MSc. and they have to go home except they can get a job that will sponsor their work permits, which seems to be impossible. You paid for education and you got it, so stop complaining. A lot of people would have loved to study in Canada too but did not have the funds to do that.

I also frown at their claim of "integration". Who says foreign workers can not integrate the same way the international students integrated? Did majority of them not come from developing countries like us too? Or do they have 2 heads? I even doubt their claim cos I see a lot of them speak and write terrible English. How could they have integrated when their spoken English is still bad.

It is currently difficult for foreign workers to get high CRS score as you need professional degree/MSc, 3 years of experience, proof of funds and very high IELTS score to get CRS. Only a small percentage have been able to get ITA while a lot of people are still sitting in the pool and working on getting PNP.

I am not against them creating a separate route for International students but I have realised that instead of asking for a new system, most of them spend time bad mouthing foreign workers with claims that their education qualifications and work experiences are forged.

irondome:

1. Canadian schools do not equate IRCC; as such, IRCC is not under any compulsion to bulge. And they decided to, good on them.
2. An investment in Msc is seen as investment in education and not a route to migration by most countries.Several Students in UK, US and Australia invested so much in MSc and had to leave after their various programs. So what makes Canadian International graduate any more special.
For instance, in my own class of 15 international students in a top Uni in Australia, only 4 of us were able to stay. The others had to leave after the expiration of their temp visas because that was the deal. DIBP didn't promise PR along with student visa. Same applies to Canadian students, IRCC didn't promise anyone PR visa after studies; the deal obviously was certificate + PGWP .

For those with 1 year PGWP, if their degree was MSc, then, they should simply ACE their IELTS like every other skilled migrant had to. And if they went in for a diploma, they should simply re-enroll for further studies for more years of PGWP.

Am not hating on anyone as am already a resident, am just saying --they shouldn't push IRCC to literally convert a Skilled Migration scheme to post study migration scheme.

You can use 6 months Fixed deposit as proof of funds. It will be good if you can include your letter from your bank that shows the current balance and the average balance of your Salary account (current account) for the past 6 months.

The reason why I think it will be better to include at least your salary account is that you are required to provide details of ALL your accounts as IRCC wants to be sure you do not use loans taken using one of your accounts and transferred to another account as POF. It is possible to have just one bank account i.e. your salary account but it is rare to have a fixed deposit without any account linked to it where the money will be transferred at maturity.

You do not have to show bank statements for salaries paid by past or current employer. Payslip is also not mandatory.

In fact, you are not required to submit bank statements. All what is required is a letter from your bank stating all your accounts, their opening dated, their current balances and their average balances for the past 6 months. People tend to include bank statements because most banks outside Canada do not write such letters.

I'm happy you are now a resident. You will understand better. Canadian students are special because the immigration policy is favorable to them. The government acknowledges their impact in the system and also recognizes diversity and inclusion.

How many of these skilled immigrants get a proper skilled job when they arrive? Let's be factual. It takes time for most pple. Just a lucky few get settled in on time. That is where the international graduates are better off. They gain coop/internship work exp whIle studying. They understand d system better off.But the express entry system short changes them. I rest my case.

Welcome buddy.

Diversity is being invited to a party, Inclusion is being asked to dance grin

Were you sent an email? Also, in your myCIC, under additional documents, is it showing "additional documents required"? I am asking these questions cos additional documents are always required via myCIC not by post.

Actually, it is the generic mail from cic where you go online and download the letter. But the letter didnt state how to send the documents. it just says this information must get to them in 30 days.

i have checked my online account but theres no provision for any new document upload.

Curlie:

Hi Garykasparov, please what study materials did you use and how long did you prepare for? I need help with my Reading and Writing ( Reading especially). I have 3wks to the exam and getting worried. Please advise on details on prep materials.

Well...to address this questions i would say www.ieltsbuddy.com is a one-stop shop for IELTS preparation, though you have to navigate the site thoroughly and study the tips/strategies. For example, for me, the day i learnt about distractors in Listening was the turn-around for me. Also, i ordered the cambridge book on amazon.uk for my Listening practise (it has 8! listening practice) cos that was where my biggest weakness lied.

For Reading, it seems more like an I.Q test to me, sorry to say. it is the easiest of all, albeit, tricky and time-challenging. A good, consistent, practise will overcome this. One thing though, sink-in, understand the comprehension all the way. Another is, identify which aspect you find challenging the most, guess there are 8 segments, Heading paragraph and yes/no, not given seems the toughest, work on them. Note: zero-tolerance to misspelling.

For Writing, my mantra for success was reviewing the marking criteria https://takeielts.britishcouncil.org/sites/default/files/IELTS_task_2_Writing_band_descriptors.pdf
you will understand what is expected of you. Google search that of task 1 as well. Each of the outlined requirement in Task 1 should have a paragraph and atleast two points/reasons in each so as to extend your answers.
For task 2, you should have 4 body paragraphs and 6 in all. with each having a clear central point, an example/experience/reason or comparism in it and explaining them, dont forget coherence/cohesion, furthermore, also, in addition,e.t.c. Most of our sentences in essays will be complex sentences, practise including short simple sentence as well as compound sentences (FANBOYS) to connect your sentences.
Find here: http://www.ieltsbuddy.com/sentence-structure.html

For speaking, go to edx.org, search for "Uni of Queensland IELTS Preparation" is a good start and practise with spouse or some other people who must have reviewed the marking criteria http://takeielts.britishcouncil.org/find-out-about-results/ielts-assessment-criteria so you can be assessed properly. Again, practise makes perfect here.

I dont think you like to hear how long it took me to prepare, but, for all its worth, it took me 8months, though not intense, i studied almost everyday from the day i saw my last result (the score, of which indicted how much more i needed to try), given that, i wasnt studying only to pass the IELTS anymore, but to improve my english proficiency in general - it became a way of life!. The reason i am always surprised when i see peeps enrolling for the next available date, achieving all band 9 is not childs play. i enrolled when i was happy with my preparation and scoring 37/38 in Listening which eventually was my score in the real exam (8.5).

If you check very well, you will see where to upload the documents.

Once you have logged in to your MyCIC account, click on "Check Status and Messages", then click on "View Submitted Application" at the bottom of the page, it should take you to your transmitted application forms, then click on "Continue", which you take you to all the documents you uploaded earlier. Check very well, there should be a space for uploading the POF. If there is none, then you ahve to report it as technical issue and send the POF via CSE.

ooooh i just realized that i have to save all the docs as a file before i upload them as an extra upload cancels the previous one.....nawa o. so that was why i wasnt able to edit it,,,coz its "self-editing"? lol nawa o....thank God o i found out if not....

Pls is there anything else to look out for and at what point would they demand payment (im at d "upload docs" stage) coz i need to know when to send money through moneygram to d person helping me to pay(i hope there's no cbn limit on that one o )

This canny thing is happening so fast for me, that I sometimes feel overwhelmed by the amount of things i need to understand in such a short time and the fear of messing it up..... angry
Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by dupyshoo: 1:55pm On Apr 18, 2016
lol.

Don't worry, you can change the file you have uploaded as many times as possible. As you have realised, all your documents under each sections have to be combined as one pdf before uploading them in their respective placeholders. You will only get the option to submit your application after all the spaces to upload documents are filled up. Payments come just before you finally submit your application. You will be given the option either to pay for application fees and RPPF or to delay RPPF till later.

I can totally relate with you on how overwhelming it could be. To avoid mistakes, try to ask as many questions as possible, even if you feel it is stupid. It could save you a lot of stress later

Thank you.

I have checked the checked the page of my transmitted documents but there no where to upload any additional documents. the funnny thing is that they requested additional documents before this and i was able to upload and send. So, you can imagine my surprise, in not finding any link to upload this newly requested updated pof.

i was wondering if the visa office preferred courier. but since you think its a technical glitch, maybe it is....Do u still think i should send by CSE?

Thank you bro! CBN didn't list CAD in their exchange on website but I used Oanda exchange rate and put both CBN and oanda link as ref. Please my bank did not include the 6 months average balance due to their standard template for both statement & ref. Do I need to include a copy of the email they sent me in my LOE?

You can include it to clarify things for the Immigration Officer.

You should be fine once your balance is equal to or more than the POF required for the number of applicants on the application.

If they need more info, I am sure they will revert. I am optimistic, though, that this would suffice.

I sent my documents to WES for evaluation and currently the status is that they are awaiting verification from my school. However, I contacted an insider in my school's records office who claimed they have replied WES. This is like 1 month ago, yet no update on the WES website. I also wrote WES to inform them that my school has gotten back, yet their claim is that they haven't heard from my school.
Is there a way I can solve this?
The status has been reading "awaiting verification from institution" for more than 2 months now.
