SmartMugu:It's all Quebecian regardless of their income. It's subsidized by the government. Manitoba is $30 max per day for infant, $20 per day for preschoolers and $10 max per day for before and after school care. It's also subsidized. There is an extra subsidy for low income earners. Minimum is $2 per day. |

Emmanuelson:I think there is a way to switch your visa status from being a visitor to being a student when you get to the US. But is that what you want to do? I asked because with a student visa, you're only able to go to school, after a year (I think), you can apply for work permit to enable you work a few hours a week. If you think your mom can afford paying for your classes while you're in the process, then go for it. Otherwise, I'd advise you wait for her to get her citizenship. When she does, she can file for you and you will get to the US with a Greencard waiting for you. The process can take a while, but I think it's worth it. With a greencard, you can live a freer life - work wherever you want, and obtain free financial aid, scholarships, student loans etc. I think that may reduce some pressure on your mom knowing you can earn your own income, versus when you show up with a visa that you can't work with. After a few years, you can become a citizen if you wish. Just my thoughts. |

kratoz:A house built with cement in Canada or cold parts of Canada is expensive to heat. You will spend so much on insulation and still not be able to keep down the cost of heating. |

honey86:Wow. Nice info. Why Quebec? What makes it attract that much government generosity amidst other areas? |

OK you are just exaggerating here. How many bankers do you know who leave bank work and go to another job? An please don't try to paint bank job in Nigeria as good it is slavery. 70% of Banks like GTBANK are contract workers earning small and working like crazy. People with professional jobs will be far better on a job by job basis comparing Nigeria to US. People who do multiple jobs in the US are usually blue collar type workers and not bankers. Also you say people do 2 - 3 jobs right? Isn't that better than people in Nigeria who cannot even find 1 job to start with? Need to lick Ass an know people before you even get the 1 job which still pays peanuts and you are treated like crap. America is not paradise but if you work hard you will have to far better life the Nigeria excluding money from shady means. ayodele234: |

SmartMugu:They pay the highest taxes in North America I believe. If you're single and make a lot of money you won't like that place. Though their are ways to hide taxes. But if you have a family, you'll like that place. |

Gosh! Nigerians and there "over-sabiness", hijacking people thread to show off and all, and thereby making the thread about there rubbish argument. Op created this to share his experience in the states and some people turned it to theirs with unnecessary rubbish everywhere. Na wa o |

Fome74:1. You can't extend your stay beyond 90 days on a visiting visa. 2. Police generally leave you alone. |

People work hard here o. If your job is 8 hours, you must work that 8 hours. No body is paid to do nothing. Even if you are gateman and no car is coming to the compound that day-you cannot sleep or play around-you must be on watch.
