I can't imagine a human with brains asking such question!! jes put your self in ur brother's shoe's and answer the question!!!!God bless
It beats me too o. How can any sane human being even consider it an issue to debate in the first place? His brother must consider himself unfortunate to be born into such a family. What makes the OP different from his parents? I'm really pissed! The pastor and the church will spend the money like that. Even if he doesn't pay, I doubt if they will feel it. Gawd!

I had a gf I dated for 4 years. On this very good day she needed financial assistance to buy material in school, she requested 5k, I gave her 7k. 2k for pocket na. 2 days after she was sounding dull on phone, I insisted what the matter was, she told me she donated 5k to church, and she still needed to get her materials if I can give her another 5k, I almost slapped her on phone.

At a particular period she needed to pay her school fees and the due date was within 10 days from when she mentioned to me. According to her, her parents was going to get it probably a week after the due date elapse. I Borrowed her 25k to prevent her from paying extra charges and to pay back when her parents Pay. I asked her for the money a day after the fixed date they sent her the money but unfortunately she had used 20k from the money for donations in her church. I was mad, her conclusion was, anything she does for church, I'm always against it that I'm a devil. I was shocked. Honestly we broke the following month. The way people are so brainwashed ehn.

Oga, go pay your brother school fees. Or else no one will epp you and what matters mostly is that God understands that you wish to pay your tithe but your brothers problem stands

Truth is whether you like it or not. You pay or you don't pay, over 500 people will still pay their tithe, your change which will help your brothers current problem

Just some thoughts.
Firstly, the idea that God will understand simply depicts how ignorant and childish people act. why don't you climb a 10 story building and jump down and say gravity will understand so nothing will happen to you.
Secondly, who do you trust, God or Man? God said give me your tithe and man say don't pay your tithe. I know why those people said you shouldn't pay your tithe because they see with their physical eyes as giving the tithe to man because its a pastor that is receiving it.

I have always considered this scripture that says "...all things works together for those who love God"
but how do you love God?
another scripture says "... if you love me,you will keep my commandments"

Sometimes we don't understand what our tithes does for us.
if I have to choose between what God has said over my family, I will choose what God has said without thinking twice.
Pay your tithe and if u can get any cash from someone, do so and repay such person back when u collect your salary.
PAY YOUR TITHE.
One of the best i saw here.

Okay, this is a challenge I need a solution to. My parents are saying no money no money when it is obvious that they have. My little brother is home because he has outstanding fees so I was wondering if I should give him my tithe to pay part while I pay the tithe next month when I get my next salary, I don't know what to do.

Mods please move it to fp, I need urgent solution to this.

And to all those saying pay your tithes while the bro stays at home, you are giving a bad advise. If you had a baby at home crying for food and you had no food at home but had money to buy food, will you pay your tithe instead of buying food for that child. Christianity is common sense and not bondage. Read your bible to gain enlightenment and forget all the revised doctrines preached by prosperity pastors about paying tithes and the curses that follow if tithes are not paid. The one commandment Jesus gave to us was 'love your neighbor as yourself just as He loves us' and not pay your tithes.

God will literally flog you if you don't pay your brother's school fees. I don't have time to talk more about the so called tithe but I must chip in that that is the easiest way/trap pastors use to collect money from members.

I know this is about school fees but I have been in situations that I needed to assist some family members with money to buy food or pay my tithe. I am not going to lie, most times I give them the money to eat ooo knowing they dont have options. I hope God understands and when something bad happen to me during the time, I am fast to judge myself maybe it is cos I didnt pay my tithe.

Charity is the greatest of all.

You want to pay tithe while your brother stays home because of school fees? - ask yourself, what will jesus say? - in all of jesus miracles and teachings, where did he shelf love for the law?

How can you say you love God, if you cannot love your brother enough to pay his fees? And who said that tithe must be paid to the church?

My advise, pay your brother's school fees. Showing love and care is greater than paying tithe that you see as a levy.

Please pay your brother's school fees. The kingdom of God is not built on your tithes and offerings. Tithes was established in the old testament so that the Levites who do not work and do not have an inheritance would be taken care of. It was also to be given to the poor and widows at certain times and there were also certain times the tither uses the tithe on himself. Your brother needs help, help him. Don't let illiterate Nigerian pastors scare you silly. Nigerian pastors are not descendants of the Levitical priesthood. They have inheritance. Paul explains that the only priest we look up to is Jesus Christ. If you want to give to Jesus, give to those in need, for He said I came to you when I was poor and you didn't give to me. Nigerian pastors have adopted all the money parts of the law, forgetting that whoever wants to be judged by the law, has to keep everything in the law.
If you want to give 10% to the church, do it by your own freewill because the church will pay bills, simple. Don't let them use Malachi 3 to scare you. God understands your predicament.

Tithe first before any other expenses. This might be your appointed time that the Lord has set for you to breakthrough in your career but alas the devil is at work to steal your breakthrough.

I av bin in this type of shoe before when i was still a bachelor but i am glad i obeyed because the breakthrough i experienced after 24hours of obidience was 10times the tithe i wanted to hold back.

My brother i will advice you tithe first because you can never tell the magnitude of what God has in store for you.

if God blessed u because of your obedience then you are indirectly saying that Christ died in vain...but God forbid!!!!

Tithing is not mandatory for Christians. You are free to pay a tithe as mandated by your religious institution, but be clear; a tithe is not demanded by God.

What is demanded however is that your parents take proper care of their child and lay good grounds for their futures. If your parents won't listen to you, please involve someone they will listen too.

Don't set a precedent of spending your money when they should be spending theirs, unless they genuinely don't have.

Appreciate your desire to please God, and your care and concern for your sibling.

Now how many of your so cold pastors use those tithes for what they are meant for? Isn't it your brother part of the people in need that suppose to benefit from it? Paying the tithes won't guaranty that it will go for the work of God,most of the tithes are used to care for these men of God,their feeding, kids education, family trips and luxuries so I will let my brother roast at home just because I have to please my pastor? i bothered not to read through your explanations. first, what is the place of tithe in the NT? "For if you are trying to make yourselves right with God by keeping the law, you have falling away from God's grace. But we who live by the spirit eagerly wait to receive by faith the rightousness God has promised to us"(Gal.5:4-5.NLT) this does not imply a careless life. Bro. PAY your brother's school fee. even if tithe were reasonable
,God would not accept it from u in dis condition

I don't want to make u scared the essence of the education is for ur brother to come out useful to the society and probably earn a living. What happens if God frustrates that future goal.

See a lot of people don't pay tithe and will give you the wrong advice.BE GUIDED

what do u mean by God frustrates that future goal? God isnt the devil, and God is always good.
paying his bro school fees can also been seen as paying his tithe.. Bill Gates doesn't pay tithes but he helps the poor and d needy which goes a long way than giving the pastor your money.

Blue, how far? The whole thing just saddens me. You know, this tithing issue is what brought me to NL over 10 long years ago. Doctrinally the case was clear - no mandatory tithe for Christians.

In Christ Jesus, God blesses you anyway, and will reward you for your good deeds. There is no categorisation of giving, or an attendant "tariff" garnering heavenly blessings. Christian giving is so beautifully simple - Matthew 25 v35 - end, 2 Corinthians 8.

Why rebuild those things Christ died to destroy, why spurn grace for the law, the law you cannot possibly keep, why become slaves of men when Christ has set you free?

I always tried to move the discussion from theology to the practical outworking. All good doctrine will accord with truth, and a clearly understood practical outworking - dem no gree. Round and round we went.

The resistance was so ferocious, it appeared spiritual. Some posters were so prolific, I was sure it was a co-operative using the one moniker? In the end I migrated to the family section - only to find a different set of demons there tongue

My brother, the Church is more than a Building.

Get your records straight.
Was the tithe before the law or after the law?
with whom did the law start, Abraham or Moses?
Was Moses before Abraham or vice versa?
Who started tithe?

when you are done answering these few question you will know why you have to do what you have to do.
