Its quite unfortunate that despite the economic situation in the country, the govt of rivers state has delibrately denied civil servants their monthly salaries both at state and LGA levels. While the govt continually recieves monthly allocation from the federal and a huge IGR second only to Lagos state, it has given deaf ears to the plight of its workforce. This shows there was a grand plan before assuming office and the plan is been rolled out. This govt isnt workers' friendly, and this is the height of injustice. |

dexpee4life:Getting an approval is good but the NTI PGDE does not affect our official work. it is a weekend program..Saturdays only. an approval is taken more serious when it is clear that it will affect your work like running a regular program that involve Monday to Friday or being absent for a period of time and people have been doing it on the Job without any problem. Let talk about salary Alert! |

Rexmarysweet:This is what David Cameron saw and said Nigeria is Fantastically Corrupt! My sorry goes to the educational system because of the level of disorganization, distablization and setback this matter will cause. This situation is Morah killing, blood sucking, very annoying, conscience destroying and strength sapping. God help us o. For those that teach in villages or water side: how are you managing? And to those that have children, how are you coping? Third category , those that have not receive Feb, March, and April how are you surviving? David Cameron would have used Sincerely Corrupt instead of Fantastically Corrupt or better still both! Nigeria is Sincerely and Fantastically Corrupt! simple! |

Delay Of Salaries Of 13, 000 Teachers Worries Rivers PDP February 15 , 2014 • By niyi Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers state has expressed sympathy with the 13 thousand teachers that have not been paid their salaries months after they were employed by the state government. “PDP , Rivers State Chapter, again expresses serious concern on the plights of the newly recruited teachers , whose salaries are being owed by the Rivers State Government after several months of their engagement , ” said Mr Felix Obuah, State PDP Chairman. Obuah, who spoke through his media aide , Mr Jerry Needam said the party was really disturbed by the plights of the teachers. “The party wonders why up till this moment, none of the employed teachers knows how much he /she is entitled to , as monthly salary, as the letters issued to them do not state how much they will be paid monthly by the government. ” The statement also expressed worries with the time the biometrics being conducted on the teachers was taking . |

Oyo State Government has suspended the payment of 16,532 employees due to irregularities that was discovered during the state employee verification exercise. This was discovered after a forensic computerised data audit for 100,250 workers in the state by Nigeria Interbank Settlement Systems Plc (NIBSS), conducted in all the state Ministries, Department and Agencies (MGAs) and state and local government workers. The Secretary to Oyo State Government, Alhaji Olalekan Alli, disclosed this on Tuesday while addressing journalists alongside the Head of Service, Soji Eniade and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Communication and Strategy, Yomi Layinka on the outcome of the employee verification exercise. He said the verification exercise was not intended to witch-hunt the workers but to eliminate fraud in the government payroll system by ensuring that only identified, deserving and regular employees receive salaries. He said, “ NIBSS after their audit discovered “5,795 employees with mismatched names, 4371 employees’ banks account with no Bank Verification Number (BVN),3,635 invalid employees’ bank accounts, 1,665 employees that have passed retirement age and 645 employees with multiple salary into multiple accounts, among others.” “In all, 16,532 employees out of a total 100,250 analysed were found to have such issues requiring further clarification. Government has decided that the salaries of the 16,532 employees as noted be immediately suspended immediately pending further investigation. In effect they have only been identified as having issues requiring further clarification. “Indeed, panel is being set up by the Governor to create a platform for these categories of workers to present and explain their special circumstances. Those who successfully do so will of course get back on the authentic government’s payroll, while those who fail will obviously have to be thrown out,” Alli said |

ONLY CIVIL SERVANTS WHO HAVE DONE THEIR BIOMETRICS WILL
RECEIVE MONTHLY SALARIES --Governor Wike
Only civil servants who have completed their biometric screening
and capture will henceforth receive their monthly salaries,
Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike of Rivers State has announced.
Governor Wike said this has become necessary because the State
Government discovered that more than one thousand civil servants
were receiving salaries in different Ministries.
Speaking during a courtesy call by the Governing Council of the
Kenule Besor Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic, Bori at the Government
House, Port Harcourt on Thursday said it was shocking that over
50,000 civil servants take a large chunk of the state revenue.
He said that he has the political will to resolve the challenge in
the interest of the state.
“They say we have 50 something thousand civil servants , now not
up to 4 thousand, people are not coming to do biometrics, they
must come. If you don’t do your biometrics, no salary. If you like
put it on the pages of newspapers, ‘workers have not been paid
salaries’, Am not owing you. Go and do your biometrics.”
“There are cabals in the civil service making money. I have the
political will and I will stop the trend whereby government will
be paying over 5billion as salaries and some people will be taking
half of the money”
He urged the governing council and management of the school the
dwindling revenue and work within the revenue regime.
Earlier, the Chairman, Governing Council of the Kenule Besor Saro-
Wiwa Polytechnics, Bori, Chief Adokiye Amiesemika said the
priority of the council is to make the institution the best in the
country.
He lauded the governor for his developmental strides and solicited
for government support to enable it tackle some challenges faced
by the institution.
Simeon Nwakaudu,
Special Assistant to the Rivers State Governor, Electronic Media.
