Hello house,
My testimonies plenty.
1) my mum got her visa on monday at abuja, she went with her burden of proofs but itb was not checked. Just 2 questions ( were are u going and why). White paper given to her and Vo is typing, my mama refused to go feeling like d woman never check her plenty papers na security man come explain say no need, u've been given visa!

2) had my beautiful big baby girl same day by 7; 42am at Oakbend by dr F.
After 4yrs of marriage, 2 nasty 1st & 2nd trimester miscarriages. This miracle came. At abt 4 months was diagnosed with gestational diabetes, put on insulin 3 times daily and considered high risk pregnancy. This discouraged me greatly I almost left d American dream, plus had some doctors I originally wanted to use in america who turned me down cos I was on insulin.

Congratulations! God always stays faithful n this is only the beginning of greater testimonies for u. Enjoy the new n beautiful phase you've just entered in your life.

Ajuju inspire of the current issues arising due to `cheaper options, if you ever read the MIHS package you would see that it is clearly written there that eligibility for the package was determined by the mothers readiness to birth at their facility and the same package has it boldly written in black and white that there were no income or level of income requirements. So it was open to anyone at the time.

This wouldn't be the first time you have passed a comment without being conscious of others feelings. Please be a little more empathetic..... Just thought to point it out.
I hope you don't take this wrongly though!

Hi @Momo,
I don't think you need to put the hospital name as organisation and contact person if you have got family / friends you are staying with.
I applied for B2 visa with hubby about a month and half ago and we were granted. In the place of contact person , we filled our family friends' details and organisation we left the field empty.
We went with our burden of proof and the only thing the VO requested for was hospital correspondence which we passed acrossed to him, in the pile it had the evidence of deposit we had made so far and he confirmed from us as well. I don't think you should fret.
If you can start up correspondence with your intended hospital ASAP, it is best you do, otherwise as you have been advised be truthful with the VO and let him/her know you intend changing hospitals based on further research you are currently doing which is not yet finalised.

All the best

Thanks! I do have correspondence both hospital and doctor but didn't know I could slot in the info right there ( BTW sorry everyone my phone has been acting 'abiku-ish' I must have posted my story a million times!).
I covet your testimony and we will go with all correspondence.
Thanks again

@ biollar 1 I feel you.. if you're like me,you'd probably look 41 weeks pregnant by now.. I'm guessing you don't need to look slimmer really( the tummy is long!). In addition to full maternity jeans you might want to try a blouse that's peplumish i.e. free around the tummy and then wear a free jacket, black or otherwise.
I may be wrong but hey- no harm in trying diiferent outfits in front of the mirror and choose whichever one makes you 'comfy'

I was given a follow up visit by the hospital i used for a pediatrician. seems it is the usual practice that baby should see doctor after being discharged at the hospital. I haven't been able to go out since cos i am still recovering from some delivery pains i had. Please is this visit compulsory for those who have heard about it. Thanks

My dear, the flight is long......to Houston its 16hrs+. So brase ursef. Depending on where you are flying from...abuja has 4hrs waiting time in Dubai while lagos has 7hrs but on the flight back, you might have 15hrs waiting time at Dubai.
While flight is okay..good hostess....
My flight was really empty from abuja to Dubai n to Houston so stretched on the seat....the middle that had 4 seats...thank God but the trip is long.... Dreading the long trip back but the good think is you are entitled to a hotel on your trip back cos of the 15hrs waiting time and then baby has 23kg added to your luggage...
Hope I was helpful grin

Baby's wellness checkup is important. They need to check to make sure baby is adapting well at home and also gaining the required weight back.

I definitely wouldn't want to take my new born baby on a trip back without seeing a doctor.

This attachment clearly states that applicants must be full time residents at the time of signing the contract for this delivery package. If this was what you signed up for you were not qualified to enjoy that benefit because visitors on B1/B2 visas cannot be FULL time residents!

I know say una sabi grammar wella for nairaland grin You all will agree with me that most Americans do not pay cash for medical care, hence the reduced package when you are a self pay patient. As at 2012 when I used MIHS, I got another self-pay package for around $3,000 in San Diego but opted for MIHS because my brother insisted that I stay in Phoenix. 2012 is over 4 years ago and I refuse to accept that spending a little under $3,500 (including pediatrician fee, circumcision and drugs) for childbirth then was cheap.

People that used MIHS will attest to the fact that a lot of Latinos and Somalias use MIHS hence the reduced self pay package.

While I was in California last year, an hospital gave me a breakdown for self pay maternity package for under $4,500 which my friend used 7 weeks ago, will this also be regarded as too cheap? It is a known fact that some POEs have overzealous immigration officers, the onus is also on us to identify these POEs and avoid them like plague. In my own case, I have not had any problem going in and out of the US (divine favour).

I came out of retirement/ghostmode to air my views on the MIHS thing. I wish you all peace and favour on all sides.

Dear, could you tell me what hospital with package did you want to use in San Diego last time?
I'm looking for that option.
Thank you a lot

You are not right. She delivered in 2014 and in those year MIHS used another text in there maternity package. It was like that

"...This Plan is not limited to Maricopa County residents, and does not have any income requirements.

Eligibility Requirements: The mother must agree to deliver her baby at Maricopa Medical Center (MMC) and sign a Maternity Package Plan Agreement. This Agreement is not for patients with health insurance for maternity care or for patients that are enrolled in AHCCCS."

My sister. My friend.
I totally get how you feel. But let me drop a piece of advice. When faced with a tough case, (smart) Lawyers conduct a moot court session and have both sides argue their cases. The end point is that one is prepared for every scenario and has a rebuttal for it peraventure it comes up.
I know you are upset. Believe me, I know how if feels when things keep on going south.... But this is not the time to be emotional or upset. Take EVERY advice/opinion here and imagine it is the VO throwing it at u and get a smart rebuttal.
Both Varvara and amotherforlife have posted certain things u can use. Look for the version of the year you birthed and take both to the embassy and show them that AS AT THE TIME u birthed, this was the policy. And that it is different from the recent one. That is seems that policy has changed now but from the evidence u have, the old price was for every body and not a subsidy.
#hugs !
