Hi everyone,
My hubby and I are about to sign the consent letter for ETC/Nigerian Visa. I used my maiden name on the letter as as All my documents and passport(don't have a new passport yet) still bear my maiden name.
1) I would like to know if it's going to be an issue to the Nigerian embassy that my surname/last name isn't the same as my husband's name on the letter of consent
2) I would also like to know if using my new surname on the US birth certificate would be acceptable since all my documents still bear my maiden name. Should I just go ahead and use my maiden name on the birth certificate? Or should I use my new name? or is it ok to hyphenate my maiden name and new name (e.g: smith - Coker (maiden-new)

Please this may sound silly but I'm really confused. Thanks

Your maiden name is what is required on baby's BC. Please read the instructions on the forms wella o because na money you go pay to correct any mistake.

It won't be an issue, you need a photocopy of your ID card to be submitted with the letter so it's the name that's on the ID card(that ll be your maiden name since all your docs are in your maiden name) that you will sign on the letter.

Hello house please I need advice my husband wants us to apply for the visa with the kids, am going to be applying to go give birth want to be honest from the start but I dnt know if we would get it what's your advice, we have no travel history either. Am due September, v doctors correspondence and hospital also.

I suggest you apply alone and let your husband and the kids serve as your tie to Nigeria. When u get your own visa, let them then apply for theirs. Alternatively, you could apply with your husband and let the kids serve as your tie to Nig, when you get your visas, let them apply for theirs. I feel you stand a better chance than applying together as a family. Ensure you have enough money to show that you can afford the whole expenses

I personally think you should avoid a double barre surname if you are not going to keep it on your new passport

In my experience travelling with my kids when I was still on maiden name. I had to show proof using
1.unabridged birth certificate,
2.marriage certificate,
3. Letter from hubby.
This is in line with the immigration rules.
You should check what the law is presently due to the changes that had to do with same sex marriages etc
Remember what ever you finally decide to do, you will and must always show proofs I the names differs

Finally my transcript goes thus. want to thank all the sabi mamas, really got all the info I needed.

Flew united airline via houston to lax at 35 weeks plus.
Houston poe was smooth, far from what i ve heard. Probably I was well informed ( cudos again to all that answered my pm and sami mums)may God grant us all out heart desires. Amen

CBP: why are u here?
Me: To have my Baby
CBP: did u tell them at the interview ?
Me: yes
CBP: How long will u be here?
Me: 2 months
CBP: Your four finger ma
Me: sure
CBP: move forward as someone will come get u soon
Me: Ok thanks

A CBP came right after and took my passport, off to secondary inspection, i sat for about 30 mins and I was called.

CBP: hi ma'am
Me: Hello
CBP: same question was reapeted, why are u here
Me: for child birth
CBP: How much do u have
Me: 9k , also with my card in case of emergency
CBP: can I confirm the cash
Me: sure
CBP: ensure u got all ur payment receipt and don't accept any aid
Me: Oh thanks, i've already been informed .

off to agric, wish i learnt earlier to cut off the head and slice my yam into 2. Any ways i actually carried one just to gamble with, yam was seized and my chicken seasoning.

Bought compression sock that really helped cos my leg usually swell up if sited for long, I was good.

Didn't book for wheel chair. As a preg mum, just carried my long belle straight to the front.

Not to forget to mention. met a preg women at the secondary inspection, I over head the CBP asking her why didn't she declare she was pregnant . She said she was never asked. Cbp: u weRe asked, is on the system. The lady still insist she was never asked. Another Cbp called her again for an interview.

I left before her didn't know what eventually happened. Pray it went tru for her.

Lesson: always declare ur status during interview.

Just had my first appointment with Dr m.
Dr is very friendly. I am glad I made the choice.
As for accomodation, na God sent. U can pm if instrested.

LA is cool.

Wishing my self and every other mum to be safe delivery .
May his name be praise.

Congrats on your progress. Abeg info on accommodation. I sent you private message.
Thanks

Good morning house, please I have an urgent question. I got a naija visa for my daughter last year, on arrival in naija, she was stamped in for one month. I was hoping to get her a naija passport before traveling but the doctor just advised that I travel as soon as possible for health reasons and I would be unable to get her the naija passport before we leave. Hope this won't be an issue with naija immigration since we do not have naija passport for her and her us passport has only one month stamped on it. I would really appreciate response from the house. Thanks in advance.
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 4 by Nnystc: 10:06am On May 21, 2016
Hmmm...
Honestly I don't think I even took a look at what Naija Immig. stamped on their blue passports when we came in...
We just went and did a Naija passport when we got in, and then started with the travelling out with 2 passports (Show blue in Lagos to jet out of Naija, show Green outside when returning home to Naija...

But your question is not clear though.. which Nigeria immigration are you talking about now? I thought you already said Naija immigration already let you back in by stamping one month?

Thanks dear. I meant at the airport, baby two on the way. Should be travelling soonest and I was wondering if there would be an issue at the airport on our way out with the naija immigration as I was not able to get a naija passport for her, been told that 32 pages passport has not been available so am thinking of taking her with her Us passport that has a 2 year naija visa on it.

those immigration guys here in naija can want to give you headache, you can do 64pages for her and tell them you want it same day but you just might have to pay more, it's better to avoid the stress before flying out since they only stamped her for one month into Nigeria. Just try the passport agencies in alausa and ikoyi they usually do same day urgent passports

Well said @chloe, ur best bet is to go for the 64pages cos thats readily available at the moment and the price difference is 5k-7k, ,you will get the passport the same day or the next day max. you will encounter issues with those immigration guys if ur LO doesn't have the Naija passport.
