Every non criminal Nigerian (the criminals have their guns already) should be required to have a register long gun and be part of a national civil defense.

Slightest excuse indeed. You must be sick. This is exactly why the right to bear arms was enshrined in the American constitution, the central government was weak and divided and couldn't secure the lives of the people from the native Indians, the Spanish, French, British and the Mexicans. The people were the defacto defenders of the union. What is different in Nigeria today. A weak central government, invaders from Chad, Niger and Libya and a people divided, against one another. Abeg they should legalise the thing until we have a working constitution and a functional country. The end to the lopsided turkey shoot is long overdue.

It's a welcome development. Everyone in Agatu community and the middle belt in general between the ages of 21 and above should be taught how to shoot and also procure firearms, daggers and machetes.
