My able boss captain, I am indeed very loyal to have come across this your thread. I practically not a fan of airplanes as they always make my heart beat to much but I usually don't have a choice when I have to use them especially when traveling out of the country.

Right now sir, I am totally into corporate hospitality services and I usually work somehow like a freelance marketer with some top hotels around Ikeja and close to the airport.

Being that you work in the aviation industry please is there a way you can link me up with some of these multi national companies that do lodge in hotels on a regular basis.

Please I will be very glad if you can help me out because I really need to achieve a certain target for these hotels and you will definitely be helping a fellow Nairalander get an opportunity to expand in his business.

Please I will appreciate any help from you in linking me up. Thank you.

God bless our hustle, the thing is I don't ply my trade in naija aviation industry so I don't have any contacts at in that department...

do aeroplane have heaters? cos i know they have air-conditioners.
in the cockpit, do you see other plane flying especially in crowded route and wave at other pilots
how do you eat and shit for long flights
can a plane stay still in air? i mean still while airborne no movements?
why don't planes reverse? they have tow trucks push them backwards off gate
is taking off more challenging than landing?
can drinking and flying (flying under influence affect how you operate the plane? and how do they know? (i mean the police)
can you dose off and fly past your destination airport? like driving past busstop?
thanks

This has got to be the funniest question yet grin

1. Some times we see other planes while flying but we can't wave at them because each aircraft would separated by a certain distance but vertically and horizontally to avoid stories that touch.

2. No it can't stay still in the air.

3 . planes Jet engines can't reverse cos they don't have auto transmission like cars but propeller aircraft can reverse, sort of.

4. Landing is more challenging than taking off.
5. There's what we call the eight hour rule, pilots and crew are not allowed to drink alcohol eight hours before your flight. The airline I work for tests us before when we report for duty. Of course it can affect how the pilot operates the plane so necessary checks are in place.

6. No we can't fly past our "bus stop" because there are mechanisms in place to avoid that. The plane is programmed to fly from point a to point b and will only change if to point c if there is an emergency.

7. The pilots never eat the same meals for safety reasons and we have restrooms close to the cockpit where we can poo if the need arises.

Anyone interested in having a simulator on their P.C can contact me ASAP. Have it plus it's add-ons.... Minimum requirements for this simulator is 3gig ram and at least 2.3ghz of processor.

Dear OP,

Are there any flight schools abroad that are cheaper than the ones we have in Nigeria.
Re: Ask A Pilot... by lindaayim(f): 12:20am On May 28, 2016
saw a guy standing far off with an orange like lamp while the aircraft was been towed backward (reverse) from the gate the guy seemed to be directing the pilot but saw no side mirror in the cockpit. what is the job of the guy?

Usually to direct the pilot to or from the gate.
If he wasn't in the line of sight, then he was been seen via camera.

We don't need side mirrors because the push back truck positions the aircraft into a position we can taxi to the runway

good morning boss, I had lots of passion for aviation and I was opportuned to have little knowledge about the aviation industry through a late uncle who worked at the airport. Had a training in ticketing but my passion is either piloting or aeronautical engineering training . Please how can I reach you sir? Thanks

Curious...have you ever been in an emergency situation?.....what if the landing gear/wheels fail to set up for landing ... what are the options?...lastly... those people sitting in Exit rows that promise to help others in case of emergency... do you guys really believe they would?

Why do aeroplanes sometimes overshoot their runways when landing. Is it that the pilot did not calculate adequately before landing or the traffic controller did not do his job well?

1.Do aeroplanes have ignition keys like cars?
2. What does it mean when a pilot says he's performing a stall test?

what is the function of an Helipad since all helicopters can land of any free space

how does hanger differs from airports

the plane has two handles,
what if the pilot moves it to the left and the co pilot moves his to the right like in the case of hijack ( what will be the outcome)

why must the pilot and copilot pull the gear together, is it heavy

thanks in advance, I salute You Sir

Wow. A friend got Me an add-on pack for my Sim today.. And am amazed at its detailed.. From start up to takeoff and Landing... For flight enthusiasts by just knowing the basics of flying. I recommend you practice using a Sim first. Remember when I was interviewed by Bristow. They clearly asked if I have tried using a Sim before. And how many hours practiced on it.

it's part of their trianing Multi -engine rating, Instrument rating, and Night rating. as a matter of fact, they wait for bad weather conditions during their training phase in the flight school , to handle situations better.

I don't think this is true, no pilot wants to fly in bad weather, it certainly wasn't part of my own training to wait for bad weather.

Love this new thread.... I really envy pilots..have thousands of cockpit videos. Landing and take off procedure. But my love for helicopters is just cool. Awesome machine. Ability to take off and land in any open cleared space.. Already met couple of caverton and Bristow pilots..and learnt alot from ground-based tutorial... Hoping I see a sponsor. Gods grace... But their humor is amazing. A helicopter. Pilot once told me... Fixed wings are for sisi ''s. But rotary are the real ball game....i confirmed this statement... When I tired landing a BELL 412 in my simulator. Gosh.....

Cos Helicopter Pilots are BOSSES! cool cool
We whip the air into submission.... Lol

The fact that Helicopters can land anywhere doesn't mean they can land in free space sir, only witches and wizards can do that.

During our time in the simulators, we practice alot of emergency scenarios that's is exactly like a real life situation. This prepares us for any eventuality.

If the landing gears don't deploy, we information ATC about what's up, we circle round the airport so dump fuel to reduce possibility of fires, brief the pax about the situation and get them into brace position, line up with runway and do belly landing and deploy the spoilers once we hit the runway.

Hopefully yes.
