Vo: ooh.. congrats(not knowing that was d root of his problem)
Guy: thank you sir( with a smile)

Vo came with tha bomb: do you know new born babies are always expensive at birth and you think the best is for you to travel. What plans have you made

Guy: started stammering) we will do naming ceremony

Vo: blue paper) sorry and the rest

The point is dont say thing because you think the vo will pity u or e happy with you...it might be the cause of your denial..

My own transcript went thus,

Vo: good morning passport please
Me: good morning and how u doing today? (the nigga didnt even answer)

Vo: where are you going to?
Me: xyz for abc conference

Vo: what do you do?

Good day all, please I really need your advice here, my brother in law is inviting me and my wife, we have 3 kids by the grace of God, I work in a bank with almost 9 years banking experience and my wife is into business. My issue is this, my salary is not that fat because I work with my ND certificate but I have a landed property with 2 flats already roof on it. I also have other business that is fetching me money aside my salary and my wife is doing well in her business. Do we have any chance of getting this visa as we are not going with the children and we are spending just a month as regards my annual leave Thanks

Wow you saw she has all those on her record, including murder and you are still planning to marry her. You must be really desperate for the green card man.

I don't think her criminal record impacts any application, but you need to prove the relationship is real.

Anyway Good luck and hope she doesn't do something crazy if/when you decide to leave her after you get the green card.

Please house your advice is needed here. I intend filling my DS160 this month, I am a civil servant, married with four children(16,13,10 &6). I planned going to US on a visit but my passport and all other relevant documents are in my maiden name though I have affidavit confirming my marital status I have never done change of name before because I do not have a marriage certificate(i married under native law and custom) I am known as Mrs bla bra... but officially I bear my maiden name. Can this reduce my chances of getting visa?

My mum and dad did just native law and custom too and have change of name publication dated mid 70s via the use of affidavit (An affidavit is what my wife used too, not MC), just wondering about your case though. Anyways maiden name or no maiden name, no issues as long as you can prove your marital status without MC. How old is the affidavit with you by the ways? How long have you been a civil servant, what level are you at too? Your family ties are tight as long as hubby is not based in the US and you are either travelling alone, aren't travelling with more than one or two kids on this trip, or even the entire family can go on vacation if you can PROVE FINANCIAL ABILITY as a family. How are your finances as an individual and as a family? Who is paying for the trip? One thing I believe is that civil servants with over 10-15-20 years of work experience in the civil service and established immediate family unit in naija will easily get US visas ahead of so many applicants categories if the finances are there. Bank this

Sir, I will advice you to chill out alittle and travel to south africa or dubai first...its very hard to get a US visa without a prior traveling experience...especially in your own case where both of you dont even have any experience...and I think a month is too much considering the fact that you are leaving your kids here with your aged mother...personal thought tho...the Vo might not find a big deal in that(just saying)...personally I think 20 days max is ok..i hope that helped..Regards

Hi All,

So I intend to attend my interview soon. I'm "SINGLE" sounds funny that we single guys get to be vindicated for being single and trying to travel to the US.

I am an IT Engineer with 3 Years and 6 Months Experience with same Company, earn almost 300k and traveled to two (2) countries.

Well i'm confident even though i'm single and WON'T lie about it.

Wish me luck fellow Nairalanders

On paper oh, looks good somehow (the singleness can be covered) - good prospect, not really bad a travel history, good job and pay if "proveable". Okay, take it (not luck oh, it's favor rather)!

ma, anybody can do change of name, a marriage certificate does not matter. you can change your name anytime by swearing an affidavit in court. That being said there is nothing wrong with travelling with your name as it is. There is no legal requirement to take up your husbands name upon marriage. as long as you have proof of the said marriage whether registry, native law, or Islamic law.

Hello House, I have a question regarding visa dropbox processing. It's not very clear what the processing stages and usual timeline should be. The UK visa processing stages are clearer and more detailed. Some clarity would be appreciated. Also, is it usual for the application by a frequent traveler to the US to undergo lenghty administrative processing? I'm quite worried as this has never happened before and my travel plans to other countries might be jeopardized. Any advice or information is welcome. Thanks.

H'ackshually(#infalzvoice) its quite simple.
Check the US embassy website for procedure. It is exactly as written.
Timeline- Expect your passport back within a week.
Admin processing-it happens once in a while and takes as much time as they want.no fixed time frame

Thanks for your response. I actually applied for the US visa after I had gotten the visas for all other countries on my itinerary, assuming it would take the usual 5 working days. My travel dates come up soon and I'd like to know if my passport can be retrieved while the admin processing is going on. @LadyGuinivere @LagosNIV

Unless perhaps u wish to cancel the application, I do not think it would not be possible to retrieve the passport until the AP is complete

@Demiyke. Thanks I got my 2 years B1/B2 visa was successfully renewed via dropbox.

I was tracking it at https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?eQs=WwjqOlbeRYzCYubaSQI+RA==

The application was submitted on 9/06/2016. The process went from No Status to Ready by 13/06/2016, to Administrative proccessing on 14 to 15 June 2016 and finally issue on 15/06/2016. To know if your passport is ready for pickup send a blank email to passportstatus@ustraveldocs.com. Enter your passport number in the subject line. You will receive a reply within 24 hours.
