God have destined some as physicians from time immemorial.Recall St.Mark is also one of them as well as a staunch disciple of Jesus Christ.Swearing the Hippocrate's oath is not a sin as it's a prerequisite to acceptance into the profession just as almost all professional bodies do globally.So do not over-spiritualize issues. Because the word "oath" was used does not make it a sin. it is just a promise to serve Humanity with your knowledge. With regards to the symbol that was the symbol Moses used in the bible when God sent snakes among the children of Israel. the snake on the stick that God said any one that looks on the snake shall ne healed. Absolutely. True Christians should especially avoid public offices. They cannot be presidents, governors, senators etc. because they'll have to recite the oath. Authentic christians should not even testify in court else they'll be asked to take oath as well
