I would say that I have been following your posts and I admire your broad knowledge so far, more grace to your elbow !!

I would like to get some insight from you my broda,I bought some shares in 2001 at the defunct Oceanic bank which is now ecobank during their IPO sales and I haven't followed up on how the shares have been faring because I have no dedication to it but presently I want to build up my portfolio through stocks and I'm now willing to buy more shares mostly penny stocks and blue chips,I want to trade in medium and long term. I would need your advice as to what best I can do to achieve my goals in succeeding. I await your response, God bless ad happy Sunday !!

"A separate Extraordinary Meeting saw various other resolutions passed. With regard to the consolidation of shares, a resolution was passed authorising that the nominal value of the ordinary shares of the company be increased from 2.5 US cents per share to 50 US cents per share. This would be done by consolidating every 20 ordinary shares held into one new ordinary share each, and issuing in replacement, new ordinary shares of 50 US cents each."

investment values in the stock market will depreciate from over $45bn when N200=$1 to less than $25bn with N300=$ exchange rate.

Indeed, the value of our houses and all naira denominated assets, including the cash in our pocket and savings accounts have all now lost up to 50 per cent of the previous dollar value, while the oppressive burden of paying outstanding import bills, and other dollar denominated loans may send these debtors to their early graves.

Frankly, our collective net worth and the value of all naira denominated assets have now been cut in half, with just a stroke of the pen, cool

I tire for these analysts. You dont devalue you are wrong, you devalue you are wrong. Very soon the prices of equities will reach the roof top now. The people I pity are those that have their cash sitting in their bank accounts and not ready to take any risk.

4. Bad news for banks and businesses with forex loans
The CBN says that 10.1% of all the loans in Nigeria's banking system have gone bad. A lot of these loans are foreign currency loans extended to local oil and gas companies when crude oil prices were $100 per barrel. Between 2012 and 2014, an estimated $10bn was lent to local oil companies to purchase assets from foreign oil majors.

The oil and gas industry is Nigeria's main foreign exchange earner. Once the naira starts to float, banks will have to adjust the value of these loans on their books. In turn, the increased burden on the borrowers is likely to push more of them into bad loan territory. A couple of weeks ago, the Nigerian government bizarrely asked banks to stop sacking workers. More bad loans will almost certainly trigger more sackings.

It remains to be seen how the government will react to more sackings if and when they happen. Or perhaps the banks will use it as a bargaining tool to extract another round of bailouts from the government.
