Goodday VO,

You are doing a great job here, weldone. Please I would would like to get clarification on this sentence on the embassy web page 'The visa expired no more than four years prior to reissuance' under the requirement for drop-box eligibility.

Does it mean if my last visa expired within the last four years or still referring to the old visa? I know it used to be 12 months so i am trying to be certain as mine expired about 15months ago.

Thank you.

Dear VO,
I bear a first name with alphabet in the middle that can be written with 's' or 'z', that is Razaq.
In my passport and the letter from my employer it reads 's', but some of my documents reads 'z' such as my birth certificate. Can this pose a problem for me or is there anything I could do to avoid it prior to interview? Thanks.

Dear ma/sir, please i really need an answer to this. My friend went to US embassy together with his wife. And he had a fake visa on his passport which was done by one football agent according to what he told me. And he was caught at the point of interviews, and they wasn't issued d visa and they wasn't told anything except d blue paper was given. Does it means both has been banned or his wife alone can reapply or they can still reapply? Pls assist!

Good day!

I wish to make group appointment for, me my husband and baby for B2 visa.
I saw on the website that group/family appointment is stopped for Nigeria. How do we apply so we can present our baby's passport on interview date since she's an infant?
Does it mean me an my husband will be interviewed separately by different COs?
Also on payment at GTB? Is is advisable that we pay separate fees to get separate receipts? Don't want issues with barcode.

Dear Sir,
Thanks for the good work u are doing here. my friend had a us visa which she travelled with. when the visa expired, she was qualified for renewal via drop box which she did. her new visa expires in 2 months and she is yet to travel with it. Her fear now is, will she still be qualified for renewal via drop box if she did not travel with her current visa or will she have to go for a new visa interview? Her work schedule hasn't really given her time to go on vacation in like 2 years, reason for her not using the visa.

We consider all cases independently and have a considerable amount of information available during the adjudication process enabling the consular officer to consider a wide range of factors in adjudicating each case. Each case is considered solely on its merits and applied to requirements needed to issue a visa under U.S. Immigration law.
hello niv.. . I plan on going for a recreational exercise with a B2 visa and I would soon be sent an invitation for for the exercise which is 4 weeks .. Although hotel accommodation has been booked for me.. And i don't have anyone there.. Would my own business income(financial statements) be considered as a factor or can I use my mother's own cos she also has landed properties..

Hello TenPassfour,

We cannot state enough that invitation letters are absolutely not a requirement. Do not waste your time and energy getting such unnecessary documents as they are not needed and will not be looked at during the interview.

Hello Ujan,

Good question. Email us at consularAbuja@state.gov so that we can cancel the stolen visa to ensure that someone doesn't use it. There is no process to get the visa back. Rather, you must apply, pay and come in for an interview again.

Hello 1306,

To be eligibile for dropbox, your visa can't have expired more than 48 months ago. That means that you are within that window, as your expired 15 months ago.

Again, we encourage everyone to use our dropbox program if you are eligibile. Please plan ahead to avoid waiting days or weeks for your interview.

Hello Peacevilla,

We understand that some documents may have slight differences. It's best to have all of your documents consistent, if possible. If not, just explain that to the officer to help us understand.

Hello lawalolak,

Thanks for asking this question, as it is something that we feel very strongly about. If a passport is presented at an interview with any fake stamps or visas, it is highly unlikely that the applicant will ever get a visa. Moreover, applicants can be arrested for this, so it sounds like your friend was lucky. If an applicant has a lifetime ban, he will be notified in person and in writing. However, what your friend did is very serious and may never have the chance to travel to the U.S. because he damaged his credibility. If any of our readers are tempted to purchase a fake document or visa, please do not do it. Remember that even if someone does it for you, it's still your application, so you are held accountable for all information and documentation.

Regards,

Abuja NIV

Dear VO, my 76 years old mother wants to travel to the US to visit her younger brother (hopefully July ending) she was issued a 2yrs B1/B2 in 2014 which she used to travel for the wedding of the younger brother daughter's wedding. The visa expired in March, and found out she's qualified for a drop box process. My question is what documents does she need to submit along with her passport for drop box processing. Thanks

Traveling on a visa is not a requirement for using the drop box program. We understand that people can't always travel within the 2 year window. It sounds like she is still qualified for the program.

Dear VO,

I attended a Visa interview with my husband and children and was denied. We have visited UK as family twice.

We planned a family summer holiday at Columbia, South Carolina and the VO that interviewed us said even Americans don't visit that state without much explanation.

Please i will like to know reason why Americans don't go there.

Is is advisable that we ask for 3 separate receipts at GTB for my husband, me and our baby? I hear paying and getting just one receipt for more than one person will give barcode issues.

Abuja NIV,
I have travelled twice to the US this year and on checking my i94 information, my date of entry and departure was uploaded correctly for the first trip but only the date of entry was uploaded on the 2nd trip and I have since left the US since 9th of June even though I was stamped upon entry till December 2016.
Do I need to bother or worry about it?

Hella lawalolak,

All applicants are welcome to reapply at any time. However, if an applicant committed fraud and was caught, there is a chance that he may never get a visa. We take our anti-fraud measures very seriously and when someone ruins their credibility, it is very hard to reestablish it. While it is good that he admitted his mistakes, he will have to answer for them every time he comes in.
