If you aren't experienced in the game, please avoid OANDO... OANDO is the stock for the smart guys. It has given many overnight fortunes and has rendered many cashless...

Oando bounces back from loss with N4.1bn profit after tax

Oando Plc, Nigeria’s leading indigenous energy group listed on both the Nigerian and Johannesburg Stock Exchange, yesterday announced unaudited results for the three months period ended 31 March, 2016, with profit after tax standing at N4.1 billion.

The company’s Q1 results are a welcome contrast for investors and shareholders alike, following Oando’s dismal 2015 financial performance which was significantly impacted by impairments and foreign exchange pressures.

Happy July BNSITL. grin

Why is it that companies like Forte Oil, Total, Mobil and Oando are not the ones building refineries? These companies have been on the scene for ages. Are they incapable?

good question!

Refinery biz is a thin margin biz. Add the Nigeria uncertainty and semi-deregulated/ govt patronage of doing things, best to stay away from it. Ordinary JV is a headache for IOC's.

On the other hand, Dangote has very very good govt patronage, tax breaks, unlimited capital and political influence on a massive level to sway policies and bills to ensure when he fills the gap. He will dominate it like cement. grin
Good for everyone for now

Bouncing back from loss indeed. People should learn to look at financials. The positive of 4.1 billion they want us to see came about simply because of deferred taxation. The company still made a loss in Q1.

Don't mind Wale I suppose he has given brown envelope to the press to do damage control...I have shouted enough on this ''fraud profitability'' here on this platform and hope people who are discerning enough will be very cautious and mindful putting their stake in the company...
