With regard to appointments, all of us including the President are failing to be progressive in thought by giving undue regard to primordial sentiments. Truth be told.
Speak for your self, please.

Political inclusivity enhances nation building, a president must have a larger view and heart than the average citizen.

According to you, Buhari is a president with 'regressive mentality' who is given to 'primordial sentiments'.

Don't you think Nigeria with this kind of president is doomed?

But none of us have any powers but him and the goodwill he had coming in is too precious for him to squander (looks like it).... Bubu is a demi god in the north but the south had to take a bit of convincing to make magic happen... The narrative in the south isn't nice....

The economic doldrums is one that we are already finding difficult to explain to people, all they know is they are hungrier and have less to spend under Bubu, how it came to be so isn't material, they just want results.

People speaking into their ears about such blatant and inequitable lopsidedness is adding fuel to the fire in their hearts. Alienating one's core base never augurs well.... cool

You may choose to agree or not but the North can't singlehandedly sustain him, if it could be done, they'd have done on 3 different occassions.... it took combined effort but some now assuming it's their "specialty" is laughable..... In the modern day ooo!! Lord help us. lipsrsealed

Tonye I'd appreciate it if you and other posters here stop trying to put words in my mouth. There is no where I either expressly or tacitly approved of the skewed appointments of the President. I explained the mentality behind it, and that does not translate into an endorsement of such a regressive mentality.

That said, Politics is not a tea party but a competition of diverse interests, so all the idealism being preached here is not practical which is why when we had an Ijaw President, the skewed appointments were also present and glaring.

Of course anyone with the short end of the stick would be unhappy as expected, but such is the nature of partisan politics globally and we can only hope that as our young democracy evolves and matures, such primordial sentiments will occupy the back burner.

P.S. Regarding hypocrisy, your thread itself is a shining beacon of the vice, you are yet to comment on Jonathan's equally skewed appointments. Refer to my previous posts and try to explain it away if you can.

Cheers.
This idea of politics of conquest is why Nigeria can never grow.

Nobody is asking for equal treatment, we only ask for fair treatment which is not much in my opinion.

Have you seen d recent dig promotion?

Talk about being boxed into a corner. Some people sometimes fail to realize how much the staunchest of their supporters staked just to ensure that they achieve success.

Just when you thought that victory has finally been achieved, and you can now point to detractors in the rear view and say, "we did it, we did it!", your "ride-or-die" candidate, now turned president, rides you down in a manner analogized to a Ferrari's tire bursting halfway to the finish line leaving you with so much explaining to do instead.

What all of this ultimately leads to is a situation where people doubt the truth, ignore reality and much of the time wonder if the risk was worth it at all.
in three sentences bro! just three sentences you painted a true picture of my situation. then it was "oga congrats! una try! people like u deserves special reward from Buhari! he really needs to do something for people like you who sacrificed and risked it all for him!" and i was feeling on top of the world not bc i expected anything personally from the Presidency of GMB - but because i felt now the masses will begin to feel the impact of a true government for the people. i believed a positive change that will be devoid of tribalism, inequality and injustice is finally here to stay!

then the old man made the statement of 95% verses 5%! i was shocked and my alarms went up! something warned me that their might be snake in the dry grass! but then i calmed myself down and blamed it on the media misquoting the president - but time has shown that we his die hard supporters are in for a huge disappointment.

the sad thing is - i don't have just myself to contend with, there is this huge number of people that seem to believe that they have to hold me accountable whenever the president does something wrong! like the economic situation is now, whn i go out to the street, the greetings i get more often is "oga dis ur change na counterfeitoo! make u na take am back before people go die finish!" i always counter it with jokes but its obvious that i took a huge risk that is not paying off and the people are not happy about it - if the masses should go gagas, some of us will end up being the first port of attack when we have nothing to do with the government except our desires for the best for Nigeria. sad sad

This is where i comes in, the South have been complaining of this marginalization and Northernization by this Buhari's regime since, and the man seem undeterred. What is the South doing or planning to do about this obvious northernization, can the north take this from South?. When Buhari does it, you come online wail and go into hibernating. Buhari is an unrepentant bigot ,( he,s acting out his mind) and will not change, Buhari knows that south can't do anything. What is the Southerners planning /doing to call this bigot to order ?.

Buhari does not have power to grant a Ref, the constitution FORBIDS it, protests also doesn't work in this part of the word let's disavow of sentiments and use our Reps!! Deep inside of you, you know the truth though.

I do not support inciting hate speech so lump all of them in one pot!

Go back and re read my comment, I never wished them dead, I was making reference to the people who initially were pro Zakzaky but not anymore since his adherents dragged Isreal and USA flags on the street.. check it well.

Oh oh, you've seen the diamond called a detribalized Nigerian? Kindly point me in that gems direction. cool

What is wrong is that what y'all unlooked under Jona, you guys are now making it seem like a new thing now... South west is the whipping boy of every successive govt and we may complain but we don't threaten carnage as a way out....

Let's bury this now, I'm only taking time to respond cos it's you but I'm getting tired. Peace out.

You are a raving lunatic! What did I say and what are you saying. Buhari is taking a toll on you wailers, you can't survive another year like this for sure.I said that buhari need to do more for the Yoruba over an hour ago, only for you with your upside down opinion saying the same thing after attacking me. You should log out of nairaland and either go take your medication or see your shrink.
Whosoever refuses to lick Buhari's ass is termed a wailer. Mind you, wailing for something good is an attribute of a patriot. I reacted to your post when I saw your myopic view on issue of ethnic bias, you corrected your warped logic when your ass was wiped with caustic words. Check the history of my posts then you know where my loyalty lies. Yoruba is both my party and religion. Blinded support won't yield anything profitable for us...

If I may ask, which other way is the legitimate way to go about self determination apart from protests and seeking for referendums? Has this not been the very way the IPOB has gone about it? Then instead addressing the issue like a human, your president decided to use live bullets and spill blood.

Also because of one man, Nnamdi Kanu, you think it's not a problem for the IPOB members (that have never lifted a hand against your tribe) to be killed? If that be the case, then what do you have to say about the Oba of Lagos and your USA doctor that towed similar line as Nnamdi Kanu? Will I be reasonable or sensible or human enough if I say that the Yoruba people deserved the Mile 12 or the Ikorodun encounter because they supported their Oba's stand on drowning my people? That's preposterous! huh undecided

So because of the Shiites protest, then we can safely conclude that they deserve the massacre the Nigerian military served them with? Did you even read through what you typed? I'm not a fan of the Shiites but that won't make me wish them dead or say that the killings of their people is justified because of their useless acts.

It's only rational and reasonable to condemn what is wrong and accept what is right, but not to twist situations just because it falls on tribal lines. I urge you to look beyond sentiments and tribal lines and be more rational.. Thank you.

Something is wrong with you that you should take care of first. What exactly did I say that you still can't bring out but dancing around the issue. You can choose to lick buhari's ass or any other but at least those licking his ass know why, unlike you that claim to be Yoruba and only love when Yoruba are holding short end of the stick and being screwed over. You are weak and just want to support popular opinion here and that's what your problem is, that's why you couldn't quote my post and responded to the air and still going around nonsense. You are unpatriotic and dumb, patriots separate issues and give credit where it's due not one dimensional view you wailers have. When you do everything against your land interest, you are definitely under a curse. In a country like Nigeria, you don't ever put another tribe before yours. When you think about patriotic Yoruba, you think of me. My tribe comes first in whatever I do. Omo eni o nse di bebere ka f'ileke s'idi omo elomi. Legitimate sons and daughters of Yorubaland will never cosy up to their enemies, unless you are afraid of the mobs.

Most of the people wailing are from the..... South
Most of the people zombieing are from the.... North

Then some clowns would say tribe doesn't matter with regards to appointments

Hmmm

Good for you if you're from the south and support bubu in this particular folly, but you're not the norm. You're far from it. Just as I'm far from the norm by being a northerner appalled by it

Truth is, it matters. A lot. To a LOT of people. That is what is important here

And please, if you still insist people are being shallow, consider that we're effectively very, very different cultures forced to be bedfellows. When making policy decisions that will affect all the cultures, guess what, your culture will definitely affect it.

If you need a glaring example, just look at that grazing bill nonsense abeg...

It is not fair... Simple

Anyways, countries much better well off financially than we are, in a union which they willingly got into, can break up over somewhat similar circumstances and you expect naija to just roll along (see brexit)

Lol no

When Buhari first northernised the Defence Sector with his appointment of Northerners into offices of National Security Adviser,  Minister of Defence, Chief of Army Staff, and DG DSS, some of us raised alarm that the President has an hidden agenda but we were tagged wailers.

After he was through with the Defence sector, Buhari moved his 'shop' to the Internal Security/Interior/paramilitary sector with the appointment of Northerners to occupy offices of Minister of Justice/Attorney-General, Minister of Interior (Interior + Police Affairs), CG Customs, CG Immigration, CG NSCDC, CG Prison Service and more recently, the IG of Police.

While we were wailing on that, President Buhari, a Fulani man from the North has completed his onslaught on the Oil/Petroleum sector from which we derive most of our earning.

As part of his plot, he deliberately relegated Dr Ibe Kachikwu from the influential office of GMD NNPC to the post of a 'junior' Minister of Petroleum resources, while he assume the office of substantive minister in the ministry. The significance is that Mr Kachukwu will only act according to his dictates while he carries the full responsibility of the Minister of Petroleum Resources.

Earlier today, Buhari announced a new Board of NNPC of nine members. Of the Nine member board, Buhari not only 'returned' the GMD NNPC to the north, he also appointed SIX northerners into the Board leaving south with ONLY three slots. The northerners include;
Dr Maikanti Kaccalla Baru(North) as the GMD NNPC; Permanent Secretary Min of Finance Alhaji Mahmoud Dutse(North)- Member NNPC Board; Buhari's Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari(North)- Member; Dr Tajuddeen Umar (North)- Member; Mallam Mohammed Lawal(North)- Member; and Mallam Yusuf Lawal(North)- Member.

The only three southerners are Dr Ibe Kachikwu(South)- Ceremonial Chairman of NNPC Board; Dr John M.A. Thomas(South)- Member; and Dr Pius O. Akinyelure (South)- Member.

For avoidance of doubt, the powers of Chairman of NNPC board is limited to presiding over board meetings without wielding any significant influence, unlike the GMD NNPC or Petroleum Minister that has a lot of influence in the sector.

We must also bear in mind that the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum Resources Alhaji Jamila Shu’ara, is also from the North.

In other words, the Minister of Petroleum is from the North(Buhari), PS Petroleum Resources from the north, GMD NNPC from the North, and SIX out of Nine NNPC board members are Northerners.

President Buhari by this appointment has confirmed our suspicion and vindicated us that he is out to further divide the good people of the south against the hardworking people of the North.

The action of Mr President is highly condemnable and does not represent that of a statesman that desires Nigeria unity.

I pray Nigeria survives this onslaught on our unity and collective aspiration by Mr President

May God Bless Us All and Bless Nigeria
What else can I say? This is absolute apt!

Bro, I'm not deceived.. A politician is a politician and always full of lies and deciet.. For a man to claim saint, even as a politician, shows some sinister intent.. That was why I decided not to buy the whole rebranding/packaging.. You also don't have to blame me because I was there live (in ABU) during the 2011 post election violence.
