Prettyhurts pele dear. mine was on a total different level. I was a shadow of myself,me an extremely lively person. Nothing interests me at all.I don't smile, no laughter just straight to the point and full stop. It took a while to even bond with my son (I can't believe it). I would be cheerful and all when everyone is around o, once I am left alone, I'd go back to my world.
I would cry as though it is finished!, tears that never came when I lost my dad, whenever I don't see a reason to cry, I'd create one. One time I cried for Nigeria. True true cry o . Ko funny mehn!

I opened up to dh that I don't know understand the situation either,he should come to my aid, I was depressed, I needed help. He admitted I really do cos with the way I was enh, if he dares talk about kpekus, I might just dial 911

He helped with most of the house chores,.. While I am bathing Ds, he would be cleaning the house.
He would be blending the pepper in the kitchen while I am making the dishes,cracking jokes, reminiscing on some funny scenes, just to make me smile.
I was relieved seeing him do all this.

I am happy it worked. On my part, I made sure to create a chest to chest contact whilst breastfeeding Ds I would inhale his natural odour, and exhale my sad mode.
In reality, I had no reason to be depressed.

It's a phase dear, It would surely pass. Talk to Dh, he would be of great help this time. Motherhood is wonderful!

Why no t get formula for him for now till breast milk start flowing well,that is why he cries,the baby is hungry,water and glucose won't do. Pele

Yes am too agitated and worried ooo, my baby is always crying, I don't mind the palmwine at all. Anything for baby, but they said is the undiluted palmwine sha.
My baby started eating from the womb, you need to see the way he sucks anything that enters his mouth even water, we will be laughing at him. if I put the breast and nothing comes out, he will remove his mouth and start crying.

people say it works,no first hand experience, i use pap i make it as watery as kunu and take it hot, it works wonders.
pls don't let baby starve ooo,i hope you are giving him glucose and water already,i refused to give mine,insisting i wanted to do ebf,thank God we didn't land in the hospital.

If i remember correctly, you only gave birth afew days ago....14th abi, and today is only the 17th. Thats is only 3 days. Most people's milk comes in by day 5!

You should be producing colostrum which is quite thick and only comes out in small drops at a time. This is loaded with nutirients and antibodies which is good for the baby. Besides a newborn's stomach is very very tiny!

I would say relax and be patient. Keep putting your baby to the breast , make sure they latch correctly and drink loads of fluids.

Babies have been programmed to have fat stores in their body for the first few days. Before the mothers milk starts flowing fully. That is why they usually loose weight in the first week of birth... a 5-10% drop is considered normal. However they are expected to p4ut this back on by the 2nd week after mama's milk has started.

I was being pressured by family to start on formular by the 2nd day but i resisted and just kept going with plugging baby to breast. An advise from one of the nurses: One way to know that something is happening - check their nappies.....

If the poo has started changing colour
.... then you are producing something as the digestive system is working on the baby's intake to push out the meconium. If he was not eating anything.... the colour change wont be there.

Besides you need that stimuli from your baby sucking to jumpstart milk production.

Fast forward to day 5, woke up with heavy boobs, went to have a shower and...... i was leaking everywhere!

If you want to EBF, it needs patience, and a relaxed state of mind. Buy your bottles, steriliser and relevant items by all means but i would say hold off on buying the formula till at least 5 -7 days post birth.

The risk is that bottle feeding is easier than breast feeding and a different type of sucking action is requied in both.

who no like easy road.... if you start on the bottle too soon your baby will get used to the bottle and Breast feeding may just become hard work for him .

The advice i got was to avoid bottles till breast feeding is established which was about 6 weeks.

The road no easy, but you will pull through!

@christybabe, do u have palm oil at home?then rub it on your whole breast and leave it for some minutes......it works like magic.....lets see if it works for u too
