I resigned 2 days after I got my Visa... I gave my manager 2 weeks notice he asked for 30 days I said f*vk you I quit... He said I'll hear from the legal department blah blah... I told him I'll just have to fake my death then. Long story short I never heard from them. Most weekends when I meet my colleagues at Vertigo I'm the real MVP... Income sha suffered and some weight was gained but I enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Dear Nl,

seems most university in USA now required tuition deposit before sending F120.

a friend just got admitted to UCO and tuition deposit was requested 3k dollars.

the problem is he was caught unaware thought all would be paid over there.

any one got F120 recently without tuition deposit it yes kindly state the university.

thanks and God bless as u help a friend.

Sorry you're caught unaware. It's been like this before I even got my admission. It happens when same set of unscrupulous immigrants recently taught same school a bitter lesson. This is what I was telling Ojap on phone few weeks ago about my former school. I wasn't asked for deposit but another Nigerian was asked a year after I got in. I asked the Indians that came in that same year and they can't give me any reply about paying any deposit.

Here are some tips for future purposes:

1. UPenn is an Ivy League school.
- Known particularly for its college of business.
- Being aware of the top schools in your field shows your level of commitment to pursuing your graduate degree.

2. Interview seemingly broke down into an argument, without you realizing.
- In my ignorance, I would acknowledge and "agree" with the VO about UPenn before proceeding with why I applied to MSU.

3. Overall, I think the VO just "punished" you for not knowing about UPenn because he doubted your genuineness. Just like an engineering student is expected to at least have heard about MIT.

4. I would say give it one more shot. I think you were just unlucky with the line of questioning.

Hi Dr. Square65, can you enlighten some people here about West Virginia? A very confused guy once came here and was worried about the state or even if any Nigerians school there. Thanks.

In addition to that, teaching itself is a huge hometie. The dude wasn't prepared enough to get the visa i suppose. And lots of info is on this forum.

How could he resign and at the same time apply for a visa? It means he'll not return to Nigeria thereafter.

That's it. For those who are lucky with it, it shows that each case is unique. Probably his expression tells the vo he's not visa worthy at the moment.

Agbanilagbatan oooooo oshey baba …It was just God’s grace and Favour today (take it or leave it). Please bear with me for this lengthy post..I am not sure anyone will gain from this my interview but I have gotten too much help from people on this thread than not to post my transcript today I don’t think My interview lasted 1min, My appointment was for 1pm so I left home like 8:30pm dressed in a shinos trouser, Starched shirt, slim tie and glasses..My confidence level was like 101% I just dey walk like Van damm, being that no traffic on 3rd mainland bridge I got to Obalende around 10am and boarded Napep going to Adeola Odeku, I thought I knew lagos until today, I missed bonny camp and I landed at idejo street in V.I. I had to follow the Napep back to Bonny Camp then I alighted; I went to pass the India Embassy side which is longer compared to the car park side. I trekked so tey…today na today..While trekking towards the embassy, all those business guys have been meeting me to stapple my document together, staple my photo to my Document..i just dey laugh..for my mind I was likee una wan scam a nairalander..I just laughed and said I am okay. I got to the embassy proper at exactly 11am for a 1pm appointment, the security told me to queue, I was the only one on the queue, gradually people started coming for 12pm appointment, like around 11:20am, a CGI guy came to take us in ( 1pm,12:45pm and 12pm appointments). We all went through verification and they gummed a tally to our passports. People plenty for that hall o, roughly like 70 or more.. Practically 95% of us were Student Visa category.A guy didn't even sign his i20 until a guy sitting beside him told him to and he faced back to confirm from me wehter to sign the i20, another guy didn't now what they call sevi fee receipt until the cgi guy showed him and the guy left to God now where and came with it..i was like haven't these guys heard of nairaland? At exactly 12:10pm (My appointment was for 1pm but all of us entered together) we entered the embassy proper for finger print..at this point I actually thought the interview has started, No White man or woman in sight, the people in the glass cubicle were all blacks (4 ladies) and I was like..ope oooo..at least my fellow black go dey lenient. As I was on the queue the first guy was done in like 30secs..and I was like this interview fast o. Suddenly I saw a white man take his sit in one of the cubicle by the left side, then it dawned on me the real thing has not started and my heart started beating fast…mehn..Now the interview started and I queued for my turn..there were 4 VO in total (3 males and 1 female). The first VO that came drilled one man for like 8mins, the VO left to verify something and still came back to drill him more..but the man no shake o..Luckily he got his Visa Approved. At this point I didn’t want the VO that drilled the man. The female VO interviewed one guy and the guy was giving a nairaland type of intelligent answers but he was talking as if he was reciting memory verses..( The Vo asked him What courses he will take, why this program and school, the guy answered well), As I done hear the questions I was praying to be interviewed by her but God has a better plan. when the VO approved his visa, the guy started praying for the VO o..The guy even jumped and hugged the CGI guy arranging us infront of the VOs..(me I was just like mehn..This is hot seat..i was just thinking about my 48K.. the devil just dey put different thoughts for my mind). Another Vo was interviewing a lady and the lady was making so much sense then suddenly the Vo asked her how she got a community scholarship and she said me and the scholarship organization had an agreement (When I heard that I was like she don f up, I was expecting her to say her great result or test or something) but suddenly she twisted it that they had an agreement for her to come back and impact the knowledge she gains from the USA in her community…then I was like..okay that’s cool (Hometie) I don’t now whether she got the Visa or not cause I switch my attention to a young lady that said she is going to bla bla Community College (I just heard community college didn’t hear the name) mehn I knew she wont get the Visa..lo and behold she didn’t.…Gbam..it was my turn (I just told God let your grace be sufficient for me). I was directed to the Male VO that Drilled the first man,, so I queued at the back of a guy I think is @gentledoj (@gentledoj you are going to a school in North Carolina Right? If yes I think where you need to work on is your employment stuff, I think the VO asked when you graduated and you replied and he asked what are you doing and you said you are unemployed. I am not sure but I believe this is what I heard..dont give up..ask people for advice hear and weigh your options, you can still refire I think and be ready to explain better…the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong..chase your dreams brother). Now the VO beckoned on me to come and I stepped forward..

VO- Good Afternoon, How are you doing?
Me: Good afternoon I am fine, thank you
Vo: Ok tell me about yourself, what you are doing, where you studied..just everything (I was thrown off balance but I tried to start)
Me: I graduated from Civil Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University, I am a civil engineer working with CMB Building Construction ltd (my right leg just dey shake like agama lizard but I didn’t let it show..Its actually CMB Building Maintenance and Investment Limited). And I am going for my Masters in Civil Engineering at University of North Carolina Charlotte. (I just stopped even though from home I planned to go further to my intended research and who I will be working with and the courses I will take)
VO: What do you do presently?
Me: I work with CMB bla bla as a Civil Engineer
VO: What does your parent do? ( I wasn’t even expecting this, I was expecting the normal why this program, Why UNCC etc)
Me: My mum is a director in the Ministry of Environment (I stopped, at that point I wasn’t myself..my 101% confident level don reach 60%
VO: What of your Dad? (Vo was typing)
Me: He is a Civil Engineer (Even though from home I planned not to allow the VO ask any Sub-Question like the next question)
Vo: Where?
Me: He is self-employed, he own a company of his own

Them Vo started typing and I was just looking..then he picked a paper from the top shelf or so..i was wearing a glasses so the paper was looking like blue then White then Blue then White then blue then white then blue then white..I just cant ascertain the color the Vo just said Pick up your Visa bla bla..I felt like I was alone in the world..my ears went deaf..I just walked out and I started singing to God… The transcript might seem long but trust me it wasn’t up to a Min…Everything went so fast at the speed of Light..No single document was asked..Did GRE ..Did TOEFL…

Advice to prospective applicant..Read a lot of transcripts (I downloaded the pdf approved and delayed visa transcript and I also have a screen grabs of 98% of all the visa approved this Fall)..Be truthful, Apply to accredited schools, apply yourself..Dont use agent..This cant be over-emphasised..Fill the DS 190 form yourself and read it well before submitting, imagine, I made a mistake of putting a wrong state of birth..if I didn’t read it for like 2 days I wouldn’t have known..and God bless me the Vo suddenly asked and I say the right one not knowing I filled a wrong state…and above all Pray and trust God..I fasted for 3 days mehn.

Thanks to @Walspring for my I20..this guy saved me about 15k I would have spent on eshipglobal oshi..Imagine paying about $106 for shipping i20 to Nigeria in this economy..Wale I pray God bless you beyond measures and your imagination, he’s always ready to answer my foolish questions, Thanks to @Cutemorgan and @onyembu2013, this guys were always there to answer my stupid questions (even though I knew the answers but I cant allow visa fee of 48k and sevi fee of 72k to waste, so I need to be uber sure), See you at the top brothers. To @sirriddy I will always thank you, you inspire me..May God bless you. And to @motifoluwasolami, thanks for your encouragement, your own day of glory will come soon just keep pushing, we can’t give up. To @imperiouxx i admire you alot, if i were in your shoes i honestly dont think i will still come here to give advice after finishing my masters and working.. guess you are an inspiration to some of us..keep advising us and may God reward you. To the whole nairaland thank you guys for the laugh, info and advice..Lets do better than the Indians.................................................................

The problem is even UCO Dont request for deposit before now.

was surprised now to see them requesting for it.

thanks all the same bro.

Which of the UCO? because i knew one UCO that requested deposit from two guys last year before they issued I20.

yes you are right in the past i know about 4 students given admission into UCO Who are here on NL But got their visa Delayed.

i think due to such visa delayed they decide to initiate deposit to increase visa chances.

had it been they put it on 1kusd that would have been okay. he would have go ahead to pay that.

now he needs to start afresh with another university.

also right now most universities are requesting for 23k usd bank statement of account as admission requirement.

guys take note of the above.

that not true big boss the main fact there is that those schools wasted their resources such as papers, ink, shipping fee etc on applicants and at the end of the day those applicants do not attend their school, some transferred to another schools while others ran away..

Imagine how much they spent on each applicant every semester and how much debt they incur every semester.

No be small thing oo

depends on your pocket, you can use nipost regulat mail that has no tracking no,it cost #350 and its takes 3weeks or more to get delivered and the transcript getting to its destination safely is 50/50. DHL student package cost #8500 and it takes 3 working days, TNT and fedex dey the same range with dhl..the choice is yours

This does not increase visa chances in my opinion .... there been many with full GA, scholarship or have paid school fees who have been refused . Most times its all down to the VO and the voices in his or her head plus make baba God go with you....

Also a lot to how you present yourself as a credible student and answer the questions asked . These days they hardly care or ask about those who have made a deposit or not

If denial voice is echoing in the VO head, nah badt thing ooo grin grin grin

Sometimes it took 7 days to get to New York and additional 3 to 7 days to final destination

Breaking News!!!
Glory be to GOD.
Visa approved today after a denial few years ago.
I was the second applicant the vo approved in my batch after refusing about 3 applicants.

Vo: good afternoon
Me: replied

vo: why this school?
Me: I'm interested in the student academics and career resources available at UM which integrate classroom experience with real world(*thanks to NL).

Vo cuts in...
What course will you be studying?

Me: Information Science with concentration in computer information systems(vo nods head)

Vo: Why this course?
Me: Well, because I want to have a career as an Information security specialist. a degree in this course will equip me with the expertise knowledge in data protection. I would be able to work in the telecoms industry upon my return to Nigeria.

vo: what have you been doing since you finished high school?
Me: i have obtained my National diploma in Computer science after which I got a job offer(vo raise head) to work as a web developer for about 10months... Currently I work as an IT support in blah blah... Telecoms.

Vo:Who is paying for this?
Me: My dad

Vo: what does he do?
Me: Replied

Vo separated my passport and confirmation page from my I-20.
I began to have that positive feeling.
Vo types for like 1min
Ok your visa has been approved. Make sure you have this(my I-20) on you while travelling.

Me: Alright, thank you.

Walked out like a robot.

Na God oh!
Thanks to Walspring for my SEVIS fee payment.
You rock!

Lets give the thanks to God..

Congrats and enjoy your stay in Obamaland.

Cheers!!
