TheGoodJoe:So he didn't see the conditions before he was appointed cos it was in the news that NFF appoints him.. I don't understand..! They should resolve this matter in time and if he feels he can't work with the environment or with the NFF, then they should appoint salisu.... Salisu can do better... |
| Re: All The News About The Olympic Eagles (U-23) HERE! by TheGoodJoe(m): 9:08pm On Jul 19, 2016 |
lakesidepapa: He is not appointed. Coach Paul Le Guen has some conditions he wants met before he comes to Nigeria. When once those conditions are met, he will come. We do not know what the conditions are, maybe contract clauses and penalties. Regular payment signed or amount of money ready for him to work. I see them sorting it out soon. The announcement is worth the NFF have chosen but they have not met the conditions for he coach to come. |
| Re: All The News About The Olympic Eagles (U-23) HERE! by lakesidepapa(m): 9:18pm On Jul 19, 2016 |
TheGoodJoe:They will not meet the condition, The French man wanted to stay in France to be coming from time to time to take up the team on specific assignments, that was the clause he is'nt agree on. The NFF are insisting on a Super Eagles coach that would reside in Nigeria. "We want a coach that will be more embracing in terms of football development in Nigeria.” Pinnick disclosed |

lakesidepapa: The difference between Salisu and Paul is that, Paul Le Guen understands the art of true possession football. Some describe him as similar to Arsene Wenger. He stayed at Arsenal one time to brush his team work knowledge. Coach Salisu Yusuf is not from that kind of class. For instance, Coach Le Guen stopped the Celtics players from tackling. That is one of the arts of the game. That is, total football. In our games Coach Salisu Yusuf handled, you did not see full tip tap game. Coach Paul Le Guen is from that school of thought. Will it transcend to trophies? Time will tell but I think so because of the amount of creative players coming up. A true brand of possession football will make our Stars play better and Coach Salisu Yusuf can not offer that. It does not mean Coach Salisu Yusuf's method is not effective. It is just a different brand and I feel possession football is the way to go. |

lakesidepapa:If he does not want to stay in Nigeria, then we should stick to Coach Salisu Yusuf and Coach Paul Le Guen can stay in France with his beautiful art of possession football. |
| Re: All The News About The Olympic Eagles (U-23) HERE! by TheGoodJoe(m): 9:33pm On Jul 19, 2016 |
lakesidepapa: Sorry. I am busy and typing this so I scanned your post. That was a quote. There is no need extending the debate. If he is not staying in Nigeria, he should go. Let us work with Salisu and move forward with our program. |
| Re: All The News About The Olympic Eagles (U-23) HERE! by TheGoodJoe(m): 9:37pm On Jul 19, 2016 |
lakesidepapa: So all those working with home based boys we were reading earlier was just job application format. SMH. When something is too good to be true, it is too good to be true. We had gone forward but Amaju Pinnick must pull us back. What were they doing that they did not polish out the fact we want a coach that will stay in Nigeria? Please, NFF should end this "New Arsene Wenger" chapter and let Coach Salisu Yusuf work. That is how Amaju Pinnick sacked Coach Keshi while we were playing qualifiers. This stuff is just distracting the coach. |
| Re: All The News About The Olympic Eagles (U-23) HERE! by lakesidepapa(m): 9:38pm On Jul 19, 2016 |
TheGoodJoe:But wait, you are just saying he has a beautiful art of possession football.. I watched his game with the cameronian team this morning on youtube and he didn't replicate the beautiful art of football. I don't think that's not the only one we need this time around.. We need a coach that will dedicate his time and stay here to follow our league players and put those that are fit in into the SS... I'm very sure the man will be having problems upon problems with the NFF if he finally got the job.. |
| Re: All The News About The Olympic Eagles (U-23) HERE! by TheGoodJoe(m): 9:44pm On Jul 19, 2016 |
lakesidepapa: Yes. He is that kind of coach. Dubbed "The New Arsene Wenger" in his Lyon coaching days. I also forsee continuous NFF clashes because the man is a very stubborn and principled coach. I also agree there are other factors that lead to success than teaching a team to play beautifully. That is why I was excited with him working with Coach Salisu Yusuf. If Coach Paul Le Guen does not want to stay in Nigeria, there is no need forcing him. Pinnick should end this fiasco and let us move forward. |

Le Guen’s rejection: We have other options – Green The Nigeria Football Federation has opened up on the purported rejection by Frenchman, Paul Le Guen of the technical adviser’s job offered him by the football house on Monday. In a chat with an online publication Tuesday, Chairman of the NFF Technical and Development Committee, Barrister Chris Green said the NFF would “look at the next door” if Le Guen refuses to accept their offer. On Monday night, the official website of the NFF reported that Le Guen had been named as the new Super Eagles helmsman by the technical and development committee of the football federation. The deal was however subject to Le Guen agreeing contract terms with the NFF’s Executive Committee. On Tuesday, sections of the French media announced that Le Guen would not be taking up the offer to coach the Super Eagles because the NFF did not meet his terms. “The announcement made on Monday (by the NFF’s technical committee) was quite clear. Le Guen was offered the job subject to contract terms being agreed,” Green stated. “We had to look at the best interest of the country before offering anyone the job (to manage the Super Eagles) and one of such conditions was that the new technical adviser would reside in Nigeria. “A situation where Nigeria will be the loser will never be accommodated by the NFF. “We want a coach who will not just take the Super Eagles to the next level but will develop Nigerian football as a whole and if he does not reside in Nigeria, it may not be feasible,” Green said. “We will look at the next door if Le Guen decides not to accept the terms we offered him. “A lot of top coaches applied to coach Nigeria and even more (who did not officially apply) are desirous of coaching Nigeria. “The options are open and we want to assure Nigerians that we will contract a coach that will befit the status of one of the best national teams on the African continent. “We are working assiduously to make Nigerians happy and will not relent till we achieve set objectives,” he said. Nigeria will face former African champions, Algeria, Cameroon and Zambia in their quest to qualify for the 2018 Fifa World Cup in Russia. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/07/we-have-other-options-green/ Someone tell these guys to give Ruud Gullit aka Rude Boy, former Chelsea and Newcastle coach a call. Or Call Leonardo for Inter Milan coach. |

On the Le guen rejection, I think part of his reasons as being reported is that he does not want targets set for him by the Nff, no thanks to our current fifa ranking. Truth is that our current ranking will hunt us for a while till we dig ourselves out from this lowly rated 70th position. Even our players abroad risk their contracts unrenewed owning to the home office regulations. As things stand, no coach worth his salt will like working in this stringent conditions, the indicies aren't in our favour. I thought we have escaped these sort of problems with the rankings till we pissed everything away after the 2013 triumph. Personally, I think Le guen would have been a perfect fit for us because of his knowledge and thirst for expansive football. At Rangers he banned tackling in training, banned ketchups and placed the team on diet. Of the 14 players he signed, 9 were U22 yes of age, who had good education on playing the ball to feet. Things didn't work out for him well in Scotland because he tried to change a lot of things within a short time frame. Especially the football orientation there which was and still is basically kick and follow. I hope they smothen the rough edges as having him reside in Nigeria will be of great benefit. If not, then a Serbian or South American coach will be the way to go. Those lot are tough cookies. They are alot like Africans. |
| Re: All The News About The Olympic Eagles (U-23) HERE! by safarigirl(f): 10:01pm On Jul 19, 2016 |
TheGoodJoe:exactly. We don't need a tourist coach. Any coach who isn't willing to live here shouldn't be given the job. If Pinnick can't find any local coach, he can contract the fans and we will gladly lead the team to world cup qualification All this confusion is simply not needed at this crucial period. This Pinnick fellow is a terrible administrator, his tenure will go down as the worst in 2 decades for Nigerian football |

safarigirl: Let us pray he gets it right because he has messed it up badly. I do not think we can take another bad blow. This Le Guen fiasco is already close to a bad blow. We need some good fortune. I wish Amaju Pinnick can just respect himself and step down. He has messed us up too many times. His war with the Sports Minister is another problem. He was part of the Enyeama problem with their Kaduna venue. |

NFF is a mess. They announced it on their twitter page that la guen had been selected without agreeing terms. I said it before, no serious minded coach can last long with this NFF.. |

I was never sold on Le Guen and I'm glad he won't be taking the job. Frankly, I see all these oyinbo coaches (Westerhoff excluded) as opportunists who only come to eat when food is done. They only like handling teams at major tournaments and don't want to go through the long arduous task of qualifiers. Had it been we have qualified for the World Cup already, Le Guen will accept the job without any conditions. The notable Brit coaches with their enormous pride & disdain for Africa wouldn't touch the Super Eagles by a mile but Glenn Hoddles came here to hussle for the Job, be interviewed & started whining when he lost out. Lagerback wanted the job so bad he came with a dossier of Nigerian players & did a Power Point presentation that wowed the NFF board. At the end of the day, his squad & team selection was shiiite. I'll rather we use our own. Let's leave Salisu Yusuf and Amakapabo to do the job. Already, I am impressed by their Player Invitations. They're Nigerians and there is that extra motivation for them to succeed. #SalisuYusuf #ImamaAmakapabo |

Le Guen is a total hype job jare. He succeeded at Lyon, what else? He failed spectacularly at Celtic, Oman & Cameroon *** Le Guen is egotistical and divisive. He has a history of falling out with management, dividing the dressing room and causing players' revolt. Also, he's known for making questionable team selections and his tactical nous has been called to question many times. The Super Eagles needs a manager who will tweak a thing or two and steady the ship, not someone who will make radical changes. |

I do not know who to believe again about to Chisom Chikatara vs Wydad Casablanca confusion. Wonder why even his Club could not come clear on this one. Why is our football so full of confusions, especially now that Amaju Pinnick and the Current Minister of Sports are in charge? Chikatara begins training with Wydad Wednesday https://africanfootball.com/bp_images/2016/07/B16ARMN1860w.jpg Chisom Chikatara Chisom Chikatara has settled down quickly at Wydad Casablanca and will start training with the Moroccan club on Wednesday. “Chikatara said he will start training on Wednesday,’ said a source close to the player. “He is mightily relieved that he has finally moved overseas after all the controversies.” The Abia Warriors striker has signed a three-year contract after a long-drawn controversy surrounding the transfer. Chikatara arrived Morocco Sunday morning. Why set me target when Nigeria are 70th in the world - Le Guen https://africanfootball.com/bp_images/2016/07/2018FIFAWorldCup580.jpg https://africanfootball.com/bp_images/2016/07/leguen3589.jpg Paul Le Guen Paul Le Guen objected to Nigeria setting him a target because “your team are not doing well, they are 70th in the world”, a top official has revealed to AfricanFootball.com “He said he will only take the job and see how things play and so there was no basis to set a target for him as the Super Eagles are now doing well and hence their ranking as 70th team in the world by FIFA,” an official said. Interestingly, during the technical committee media briefing announcing their recommendations, they made it clear that no target was set for the coach even though he was to be appointed to lead Nigeria’s qualifying campaign for the 2018 World Cup. Le Guen also maintained he will rather shuttle between France and Nigeria rather than reside in Nigeria as Eagles coach. “He wanted to fly in and out for Nigeria’s games and not live in the country, similar to what Berti Vogts did when he was in charge of the Eagles in 2008,” the official further disclosed. If this is true, he may incur the wrath of new coach who is a renowned disciplinarian Walter Mazzarri by not travelling with the team for their pre-season camp. "Success is not in Austria with the Hornets and a reliable source has told us this evening it’s because he has lost his passport. The news is unlikely to have gone down well.” Mazzarri is using the private week-long camp to step up fitness levels, develop combinations and, most significantly, decide who will make the cut for the 25-man Premier League squad. Success will be named in the squad, as one of the unlimited number of U21 players allowed. He has been staying at Sopwell House since his arrival, so if he has lost his passport, it can’t have gone very far. http://africanfootball.com/news/633984/Isaac-Success-misses-Watford-pre-season-after-passport-loss |

Five Reasons Why Paul Le Guen Is Yet To Accept Super Eagles Job Despite NFF Announcement https://owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/image-66.jpg According to various news sources in France, French coach Paul Le Guen is yet to accept the job of the coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria despite the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) announcing him as the new coach of the Super Eagles. Although even the Technical Committee of the football house in Nigeria only said he has been recommended for the job not appointed as widely been reported by both local and foreign media. Owngoalnigeria.com spoke to a french journalist who has close ties with the 52 year old and he revealed five key issues that need to be ironed out before Le Guen takes charge of the Super Eagles. 1. Picking of Assistants The french man as reported by Owngoalnigeria.com wants to bring long time assistant Yves Colleu with him to Nigeria alongside a physical trainer but while the NFF have given their blessings to his request to have Colleu who has been his assistant since 1998 they are yet to say yes to his demand for his own physical trainer. 2. Salary Currency Type The current fiscal policy of the Federal Government of Nigeria has brought about an impasse regarding the type of currency the coach will be paid in as the Frenchman wants to be paid in Dollars which the NFF currently have issues with and will prefer paying him in Naira. 3. Duration of Contract Le Guen although won’t mind working on a short term deal he is however wary of African nations based on his past experience with Cameroun and wants a contract of four years not two as presently been proposed by the NFF. 4. Salary Guarantee No thanks to past issues involving the NFF and previous coaches regarding salaries, The coach wants assurances that his case won’t be same as coaches who left their post as coach of the Super Eagles but with pending salaries which are mostly not paid. 5. Accomodation and Logistic The former Cameroun boss wants his accomodation secure before his arrival and as at now that is not the case and he could possibly delay his arrival until that is sorted out and since he prefers to operate in Lagos, he also need assurances regarding logistics when he wants to travel within or outside Nigeria. http://owngoalnigeria.com/2016/07/19/five-reasons-why-paul-le-guen-is-yet-to-accept-super-eagles-job-despite-nff-announcement/ |

Legia Warsaw are reportedly in the market looking for cover in central defence and the Hungarian-Nigerian who was once upon a time on the radar of English side Middlesbrough and Brighton is reportedly a part of their target. The defence hardman who has since voiced out his willingness to dump Hungary for Nigeria at senior level has made a name for himself as one of the consistent performers in the Dutch League. Otigba has been at Heerenveen since the 2011/2012 season with a combined appearance of 88 league appearances for the modest Dutch side in four full seasons.
