The funny thing is our midfield is getting dominated by a team which has lost 3 key players including a classy midfielder in Gundogan while THEIR MOST IMPORTANT MIDFIELDER, IF NOT THEIR MOST IMPORTANT PLAYER, WEIGL isn't even playing in the team.

Not in pre-season but in the CL.
The thing is we could say we were without Martial, Smalling and maybe Schneiderlin but Dortmund had just lost 3 key better players as well and were without Weigl and Reus. That's about 5 players missing in the team..
It's just pre-season but pre-season does show how prepared the team is. It's another thing entirely when we defeated an understrength Barca without the likes of Messi, Iniesta, Neymar etc and also an understrength Madrid.
But in this case, Dortmund were understrength yet we still faltered.

Stop saying what you don't know; Gundogan hasn't been a crucial player for Dortmund in recent years because of his fitness issues/injury (He was missing a lot of games and Dortmund had learnt to play well without him).

Our fitness levels and match sharpness aren't up to par yet and Dortmund started preseason earlier and have already played 3 more games than us.

I think generally Dortmund have a better squad than us and should normally win but there were a lot of varying conditions involved today you should've considered instead of being illogical as usual.

Yes, we defeated Real madrid but what happened to our best player, Kagawa who looked like a classy midfielder in that match? Relegated to the bench in favour of Mata who's more like a SS and subsequently sold without given a glance apart from the game vs Mk dons where he was our best player before he got injured and as soon as he left, the team faltered and lost.

Gundogan is not their most important midfielder but he's one of their key player. Him, Kagawa and Pea were their best player at the start of last season when Dortmund were steamrolling every opposition and scoring gallons of goal.
Even against Liverpool when the likes of Kagawa and Reus were on song, it was the weakness of Castro in the midfield that got Liverpool back into the game. Many were clamouring for Gundogan but he was unfit.
