Please what are the steps to securing an undergraduate admission (scholarship) in the usa? I want to start preparing my brother asap - -

There are several of them. If he is aiming for fall next year then he started early which is good....i would say d best bet is studying very hard for SAT and passing it. It is based on the SAt scores that u can access his true position in terms of funding

Just got into Dubai #chilling in a business lounge a swear I must be rich. A lot of rich people around grumbling about the economy , I just look them like fetty WAP. Anyways if you need dollars you can always exchange it at Travelexx at your airlines hub. I just withdrew $500 at #330 to a dollar. If you want to extract maximum value withdraw dirham from an ATM and convert over the counter. I got an extra $39 from that which will soon be spent on another expensive meal, I have found out it is to my liking. Next on is POE say a prayer for Gunther and Dicko. I will post transcript #HavaNagila

Hello,
I've been following this thread since, but I only read through..

When I got to the woman who was to verify my documents, she asked why and I told her- I was nervous tho
NB: I had already signed and dated my I-20 since 12th, cos I had to send it to my uncle to see. She even asked if it was since December
When I got to the consular, I was calm
I passed my passport and just my I-20 and just like that, I was denied

I've been thinking of the possibilities that would have caused it
- I made a mistake on the application;
Forgotten my parents DOB( year actually) wasn't filled

I wrote my aunt( as being d relative I have there) instead of my sponsor ( uncle)
I'm confused, thinking of choosing another school or asking for another I-20 changing course but having the original copy
I'm going for business administration, undergraduate.
A community college in US
I'm supposed to resume August 8, I could ask the school to extend my resumption date
Cos I really want to resume school ASAP

Some people say otherwise but for me i still thinks its harder to get visa with CC..... what was ur SAT scores and why dont u apply to a Uni instead

relatively cheap compared to uni
Ok, but it would have been better if you apply to a university becus to secure a visa with a CC i20 will be tough, but at the same time impossiblity is nothing u just have to prepare very well for your interview, your response should be captivating and convince

Hello gurus in the house,
I'm in a state of depression and I feel disappointed in myself. I've applied for visa 3 times and been denied. The last appointment I had was on Saturday and after the appointment, I wept so bitterly. This was how the interview went:

ME: GOOD MORNING SIR
VO: GOOD MORNING

VO: WHERE ARE YOU GOING?
ME: I'M GOING TO UNI. OF BRIDGEPORT, CT

VO: WHY DO YOU WANT TO GO TO THE US?
ME: I'M GOING TO THE US FOR FURTHER STUDIES PRECISELY TO PURSUE AN MBA DEGREE WITH AN OPTION IN ACCOUNTING.

VO: WHAT DID YOU STUDY IN THE UNIVERSITY?
ME: I STUDIED BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION.

VO: WHEN DID YOU GRADUATE?
ME: 2014
.......

The aim of the interview is to check you against section 214(b) and you must watch out for such questions and here is it in your own case,

VO: WHY DO YOU WANT TO GO TO THE US?
ME: I'M GOING TO THE US FOR FURTHER STUDIES PRECISELY TO PURSUE AN MBA DEGREE WITH AN OPTION IN ACCOUNTING.

you could have nailed it. Check Oludare1 transcript how he described the new fund Nigeria government established and he connected why he was going to the US with something with high probability of bringing him back to Nigeria. Whenever you get such questions, it's your opportunity to nail the interview and receive the white paper.

I believe you will make it, reapply and refire.

Hello house.
I have a question for those of us already in the US regarding mobile phones.

1. Is it better to buy your phone from Nigeria or buy in the states? (Heard specs differ and you may have issues using internet with your phone from Nig)
2. Is it better to wait and do the monthly contract thing instead of buying outright?
3. iPhone VS Android? Which is better in the US?

Thanks.

Some of these boils down to personal choices...
1. Some sims dont work with our naija phones. Dont have d technical reason why this problem but i have heard of At&t sim not working but then u put lycramobile and it works. ..and vice versa
2. You can bring your old handset from naija...but if u need to buy a handset then paying small small in contract better than releasing that money one time in buying outright
3. Iphone or Android. ...no answer . This one na personal preference

In america to call and recieve no difference so u have to be aware of that. If u take a contract plan which states lets say 100 minutes then that applies to any calls in or out. Most contract will be unlimited minutes so that helps if u get that package ....contract package will work out cheaper than pay as u go.. ... lycramobile or At&T is popular these days as a cheap contract package but without phone. You can get AT&T monthly package of $25 or if u feel its too expensive u shop around. So all comes down to personal budget

If u homesick and need to call naija frequently. . Calling through rebtel is not bad. You can download on your phone and buy credit to call

The need to write or not depends on the requirement of the school.... for me if u want to chase full funding then Sat , toefl for sure and pass it well....

Since it ur 3rd time the first two questions were key and u would have taken it and run with it . Stood out as intelligent to get the Vo attention. I would say especially since its MBA.... does business school people don't play. Very competitive and articulate. ..i didnt get that in ur answers and it would have been better to have received feedback after 1st interview if not u just keep going back saying the same things and accumulating rejection.

Next steps i am not sure ...... you can try again because if u want something u gat to chase it with all u have. But d next time u would need lots of prayers and better responses

AT&T for $25? AT&T and Verizon have the most expensive plans in the country.

Personally I think Simplemobile is the best $25 includes free international texting. Its also good to check the coverage map of any carrier/simcard plus the phone compatibility (if its a simcard and non-contract). Contract is a No-No. paying for the phone plus the plan!. I thought you were in the US

Reapply again. Your profile is good and aside your confidence level, I think from your transcript you didn't mention why you chose MBA and how it fits your career path. Maybe because tthe VO didn't directly ask you, but your strategy next time is to chip it in immediately you are asked about what course you re going to study.
Please don't give up.

Hello,

I am sorry for the denial but I think you have pointed out the mistakes yourself.

*You must go with your Original I-20
*Do not apply to a community college
*Be careful and honest in filling your I-20
*Do not be nervous
*Take up the shield of Confidence

NB- No school will want you to use a scanned copy of your I-20 for your visa processing. I think you may be too "forward" in booking an appointment. It's not bad to be but only when you have all your documents intact. I guess it was sent to you so as to know it's content especially to use the Servis ID on it for servis payment.

I am deeply sorry for the denial and do hope you will make necessary corrections to avoid any disappointment in the near future.

Best!!!
