Some issues I observed after upgrading my hp dv6 Pavilion to win10 includes:

1) battery drain: my 12 cell battery that used to last 7.35 hours on win 8, shuts down at 80%

2) hot spot not working anymore

3) data drain: I have resolved this by enabling/disabling options in gpedit.msc

4) HD screen resolution is not support out of the box: updated display driver to correct this.

The hp driver utility app I downloaded from hp website takes forever searching..

Pls work me thru the AMD tingy update. I just upgraded n now my ba3 discharges like mad plus screen brightness won't go dim no matter what. How do I get the control Centre thing. Thanks.

it's one serious issue I tell u. I had to start using glasses after 2 days cos of the brightness. I Upgraded and my screen brightness was so annoying. Bluetooth still not working. I use AMD so I downloaded AMD drives and control center. It solved the problem. Still looking for how to restore my Bluetooth.

It appears i'll settle for a fairly used mac book pro as i intend to change my pc by august and i aint cool with this windows 10 review so far and can not afford to risk buying 8.1 again as i may be prompted to upgrade later to have access to some features on software in future.

Window 10 sucks. I Upgraded to window 10 twice n downgrade back to 8.1. After upgrading, Bluetooth won't work, SD card port not working, battery draining very fast, unable to increase or reduce screen brightness. F**k window 10

Go get your drivers upgraded.

Nice write up. Am using two laptops... Hp G56 & Compaq Presario CQ57. Both with 4gb RAM & 500HDD. I upgraded the hp to to Windows 8.1 pro & the Compaq with Windows 10.

After deep deep scrutiny on the two operating systems, I discovered that Windows 10 is more more productive than 8.1 version. Besides, I found out that you cannot upgrade to Windows 10 with low RAM (2gb) except 4gb and above. It was also discovered that Microsoft merged Windows 7 & 8 version to to create version 10.

So anyone considering of of upgrading to the version 10, should consider the following:

1. Higher RAM
2. Updated Driver pack ( 2016)
3. Activation

That is not entirely true. A friend of mine upgraded his Toshiba which uses a 2GB RAM.

I just upgraded to Windows 10 , after countless attempt. Now am seeing the greatest shocker ever. my pc is just black.
I have reboot, restart, shutdown and switch on again, yet no success the funniest thing is when booting it look ok, it even show me the window 10 logo and the password and login section. But immediately it enter Desktop everything just turn black.
I can't see anything on desktop. Chai this frustrating. who send me upgrade in the first place. Am finished,
Please who can help me out

After going through the thread on the Windows free upgrade deadline, I saw many complaints from people who installed the Windows and the others who were still skeptical.

To be honest, Windows 10 is the best Windows experience once everything has been set up and running

Let’s get straight to the issues.

First of all, you need to know basic information about your system.
Press Win+R and type in msinfo32 to launch the System information console and look for these items
a. Manufacturer
b. Model Number
c. Architecture ( 64 bit or 32 bit/86x) very important
d. RAM

These are the most important, other information are there

1. Download size and options

Yes, the download size is about 3.5 GB to get Windows 10 on your PC. Other additional installations/driver updates might take another 1 GB

Note: if you are upgrading from the Microsoft tool, make sure you have enough data (>4 GB) and a strong network otherwise any network interruption, even at 90%, you start afresh

Solution: Download a good Windows 10 ISO file with any Download Manager (which you can pause and resume at will), click here for the link or buy a DVD from a computer shop.

Infact...thats happening to me as we speak.i had 4gb RAM X2 making 8gb...windows 10 has basically destroyed 4gb...my system reads only 4gb... here attached is the picture of what my system has beem doing for thr past 5 hrs and the 4gb RAM that got damaged....And someone is telling me WIN 10 is the best....if i hear...

Probably you were infected by a stubborn malware.
Download 360 total security and scan Ur PC with it. If the problem still persists, make a full system restore.

Simplicity is the word Mr man. Due to technological advancement, things are becoming much more simple to operate and use. You don't really need to become a tech savvy to use computers these days.

I have run windows power shell.

Within powershell, I have tried to do a cleanup.

I have also tried to uninstall/install modern apps

I have reset my PC and by doing that, I lost all my programs

I have tried to open another administrator account as well.
No show

Download and install windows 10 Pro. I had the same issue, in my own case the sleep option disappeared, I was unable to reduce or increase the screen brightness and a lot of my software i.e antivirus all stopped working. I tried updating all the drivers all to no avail until I finally reverted back to win 8.1 and did a fresh installation of the new win10.ISO I downloaded.

Confirmed. I don't think its installation is restricted by RAM size. The only thing I know is that for devices with low RAM sizes, everything gets slow at some operational point. Plus, device models also matters.

If you have another monitor, connect it ad see if it will come up on that one, don't forget to press the external display function key on your keyboard

If you don't, then do this

Boot to safe mode
Just before the windows icon comes up just be pressing F8 to enter safe mode, then when it windows load, go to Device Manager and update the display drivers

BTW, did you upgrade with Microsoft tool or you did it manually from a CD or ISO file?

If your system is 64bit are you sure you install the 64 bit OS? 32 bit OS may have issues going beyond 4 gb
