I can have a joint account with my wife but won't be my salary account. The both decide how much we contribute to the account monthly and what we will use the money in the account for.

I run a joint account with my wife but I solely fund it. It's from there we run the home - children's school fees, vacation, rent, shopping etc,. I see no big deal there. I only wish we had opened it when we just got married and not when the children started coming in. To me, I see a joint account as me taking care of my home. My wife doesn't have to ask me for money whenever there's a need to be met, all I see is alert and she tells me what it's meant for. If a family refuses to have a joint account, then they have a trust issue. So the question becomes 'why marry who you can't trust?'

Joint account as in the bulk of my money in the same account as his! No!

Do you have a father? If yes, bring up this issue before him? If no, ask for your mother's opinion.

solely fund d joint account. joint account runs as an investment account. family expenses are transfered to her personal account. but whenever I'm low on personal funds she accesses the account for expenses. one receives SMS alert the other email alert. it's best to run investment on joint account.
