Greetings to everyone in the house. I need the advice of the gurus here concerning my admission and chances for scholarship opportunities or funding.Here is my profile:B.Sc Electrical/Electronics Engineering with a CGPA of 4.08/5.00.Using the WES evaluation and conversion, it became 3.41/4.00. The challenge I am having right now has to do with my poor GRE score. I actually had a poor preparation for the exam; spent about three weeks for studying due to the nature of my present job.Truth be told,I should have taken my time to study very well before writing the test, but the need to meet up with admission deadlines of most schools for Spring 2017 made me act otherwise.I was able to put together a total of 295( Verb:147, Quant 148);too poor! I have always believed that a very good GRE, score added to my CGPA( which is not that bad) and my years of professional experience may land me at least some form of partial financial assistance(funding) .Aside the B.Sc, I also have HND and OND in the same field with a CGPA of 3.30/4.00 and 3.28/4.00 respectively without the WES evaluation.

Considering this low GRE score now, what do you think I can do? Are there schools in U.S that look at other factors( such as CGPA, years of professional experience, other colleges attended with certificates, etc) beside a very good GRE score to provide some levels of funding? The reason this enquiry is being made has to do with the fact that I will be largely relying on financial support(funding)for this dream of studying M.Sc in U.S, and Fall 2017 looks like the next two decades to me.

Please,great people, before the official closure of this part, help me do justice to this .
@warriboy we need to dicuss ooo.

There still time to retake the GRE .... what u have now might be enough for admission , if u search very hard even half Ga (also luck go dey ) but u need a higher score for more funding ...so if u really need funding. Quickly retake the test and give up your nights studying very hard . Also there are less funding in spring session so even with a high GRE (e still scarce ).... so to get more funding opportunity you either wait till fall or start with spring with d mind to pay for spring and pray to get ga in d coming fall

@ qhutetomsel. How did transfer ur servis nos in Nigeria because the officer was aware of it when ur profile was checked up in the system. That was a risk I thought u should have shown her ur California i-20 instead of ur Minnesota i-20.u just go straight to Minnesota directly from the airport and meet their international admission for necessary adjustment. All d same. Thank god for u

I will not advice anybody to take this risk oooo.... pulling you out and then allowing POE officers to dissert all your history. Abeg my people wait till u cross POE then make the change if u must switch schools

thanks anyways...1 luv smiley

@warriboy21. You have written well!

I studied Mechanical Engrg in Nigeria, worked in the upstream Petroleum sector and three of my friends already in the US have told me to forget all those certificates and experience and switch to IT except I don't want to get a job easily after studies.

I don search, I don tire... Most courses I have seen in IT require pre-requisite courses in IT before one is eligible to apply.

How do I do this almighty switch?
