You are very brave to do this in stages, I have been saving money for something like this but my experience with property acquisition in Nigeria compared abroad is a lot easier and open so I either use the money towards almost my current house abroad or try build one I will rarely stay in.

It will cost me same money for a house abroad as in Nigeria with the same amenities.

Just went to Nigeria to supervise the decking stage of the building project.

I started the perimeter fencing during my visit in December 2014
Did the foundation + DPC level phase during my visit in August 2015
Did the DPC to lintel phase from UK
Started the decking phase during my visit in January 2017
