Before ASUU can go on any strike, it has to be a consensus national decision, usually in a Congress. One ASUU chairman cannot speak on behalf of the whole body.

Secondly, ASUU would have gone on strike long ago if they wanted.

Thirdly, I'm sure the interviewed ASUU chairman here is speaking on behalf of his own branch and not the National body.

True News. At D last NEC a Voice Vote was held and there was overwhelming support For strike. Unfortunately votiNg 4 strike isn't just by Voice, it has to be backed by chapter congress resolution to embark on strike. So they were all asked to go back & hold Congresses. At d next NEC of 1st Oct, strike will be declared if majority CHapters resolve to strike.

ASUU and medical doctors. 2 of the highest paid public sector workers. Two most striking unions in Nigeria. The funny part is when ASUU threatens their members will leave Nigeria to teach abroad because we don't 'value' them. As if they have a choice. Lecturers and doctors feel the world owes them because they spent extra years in school. Its so stupid...
