1, you can use your Aunty as sponsor provided you will prove to VO why she is going to spend such money on you and to be realistic California is very expensive in terms of living while the Bay Area is not if I am not wrong then it is sure and on record that most schools in California will be expensive with housing as well..

2, you will get schools but in terms of affordability maybe above 30k for overall total maybe that is affordable for you and your sponsor but make use of Google and gradschools.com to get your taste.

3, do the process yourself then make use of my answer 1 and 2 and update your Aunty because your Aunty won't be the one to go for the visa interview and reply questions that VO will ask as well..

California Universities and affordability don't go in the same sentence. Maybe CALUMS though, but na one building university. All the best.

Thats good to know. Well most people here are doing masters and a handful also are also doing phd. The admission process for both Masters and phd are similar. You might want to start with 1) www.google.com 2) www.msinus.com 3) http://graddecision.org 4) www.usnews.com 5) www.gradschool.com. number 3 and number 2 will give you a good overview of the process. YOU NEED TO DO GRE AND PROBABLY TOEFL, dont let any friend or agent tell you otherwise, do the process yourself, take your destiny yourself. As a graduate student the process should be fairly easy for you to manage. I did mine myself from registering for gre and toefl and applying to 6 schools and i didnt die. @sirriddy applied to 8 schools all by himself and he is still alive, he's doing phd you can tal to him. If you have any specific question, you can come back here to ask. BTW i am doing my masters in civil engineering with concentration in structures too. If you have good gpa, you may try 1) University of Maryland, Collager park, 2)Louisiana State University, Baton rouge 3) University of North Carolina, Charlotte( the phd program is run as phd in Infrastructure and Environmental Systems, http://ines.uncc.edu/). Check the msinus website for civil engineering school ranking and you will see other couple of schools. Generally, if you can get into any phd program, it should be fully funded. so your headache right now should be getting into a good one. First step- Write gre, www.ets.org. Cheers. The bay area is super expensive...

@lekkyg, in addition to the answers above, that your aunt is in Cali doesn't necessarily mean you'll have a better life there than somewhere else. If she's planning to sponsor you?, that can be done from any state within the country. You could also be really far from her if you eventually move in to there, even though you'll be in the same state. Widen your options...try other states as well and aim to get some funding. Nothing bad in giving California preference if you get say full funding!

Best way to learn is to dedicate time going from part 1 to 10...might takes some days but once u are done you will be very knowledgeable and might have all your questions answered in detail as others might have asked same and answered

This is not good! Look for a friend to borrow his/her laptop to do it, not everything will display on that phone. It is just too limited please.

Make use of a laptop bro. Its safer that way and will save you the stress.
