The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has said that the country’s power generation has increased from 3,810 megawatts recorded on Sept. 8, 2016 to 4,285.90 megawatts on Friday.
The power generation record was reported in the website of “Nigerian Electricity System Operator’’ on Friday.

TCN said that 4,285.90 megawatts was the total output by power generation companies, and had been transferred to the 11 distribution companies across the country.

Electricity generation in the country has been stable in the last two months, rising from about 2, 983 megawatts to over 4, 000 megawatts.

Although power has improved, many parts of the country have remained without power supply owing to problems with the distribution companies, including provision of pre-payment meters.

Acting Chairman of Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Dr Anthony Akah, had recently disclosed that no fewer than four million electricity consumers in the country were awaiting supply of the meters.

Akah said that although the commission had improved on metering system, unavailability of meter manufacturing companies was hindering the maximum provision of the product to Nigerians.

He said that the commission would sanction any distribution company which failed to comply with directives relating to the distribution of meters.

Good observation. We are the cause of our predicament. If you are a christian read Genesis chapter 41-42. We simple did not save and plan. Take yourself as a case study. In times of plenty you will save. When you are broke you go to bank.

Nigerians are funny.

most of the areas presently enjoying fairly stable power supply are areas that had always enjoyed such before August 2015 when it went south.

but they come here giving the impression that the power supply is JUST improving, neglecting the fact that what they get presently, though OK, was similar or even less than what they had in the past.

a staunch supporter of PMB was screaming recently how his area gets up to 15 hours of light daily for over 2 months now, bar some general faults.

this person lives in the same area that was getting 22 hours of light daily, bar Saturdays, since 2014 but always complained about the ineptitude of the past government.

bottom line is, we can only progress together as a nation when we are honest with our opinions & criticisms of government.

Lol... I noticed when you open a thread, you quickly rush to be the FTC..... about your post, there's nothing special in the increase.... It's simply because we are in the raining season, so get your fact right......

We will hear another story come November/december....

I didn't see you on the thread where they said Inflation increased to 17.6%......

Is not as if I don't believe in the improvement, but we all know that during the raining season, there seems to be improvement in electricity generation, while its always flat during the dry season...

I can only assess the generation by December or January
