You are to write 3 episodes; reports for 3 workplace or school projects/jobs which you have done or participated in. These projects must be in the area of the occupation you are being assessed for. See MSA booklet on EA website for the required content for each episode, eg the organogram for the project, what you duties were, who and how you related with others on the project, a description of what the project is about, etc. You have to provide evidence like employment lettet and the likes.
Thanks Bro, I intend to use my Nysc a work experience sha. I served in ministry of works and participated in supervision works an also did some freelance. Luckily for me. My posting letter still de my hand.that should be sufficient yeah?

Greetings everyone, please o, i need to understand something. Does getting a positive assessment from the professional body automatically translate to getting an ITA when you sibmit your EOI.particularly when your profession is on the list and if you meet up to other requirements ? I mean what are the chances of being turned down; "just because"?

It's good to know that this thread exists. Weldone Oga, bellong. God bless you real good.

Please I would like to ask if it's possible to accrue one's needed points from only specific Variables used for calculating points or must certain points be accrued from each and all Variable? E.g If I am able to attain 60 points by Age, qualification and English proficiency alone; might I qualify for PR?

For the engineers how many pages should the cdr be?

bellong:
@CottyEkundayo,

I don't think there is anywhere EA asked for certificate. Even if it is required, to whom it may concern letter from the school would have done the trick. What you need is your transcript which doesn't require convocation to collect.

Now you have to pay thousands of dollars for something you can get for less and better.

@Mikol,

Jukeblam gave you an appropriate response. Nothing to add.

I might be a bit rusty in writing CDR, wrote mine since DEC 2014. Dunno how up to date mine is. However, Msa booklet on EA website is like the bible on this matter. All you need is stated clearly. What are you writing that you have 20 pages? I personally feel its too much. One of my CDR was 5 pages or so.

Oga a lot of people have either answered this question or talked about it.....shows your are taking a lazy man's route! However, there is an addition to udz's response, even though you may not have to claim points from experience when submitting EOI, but you need enough "experience" or projects done to be able to write 3 CDR and you will have to provide proof/ documents to support your cdr.

That among other documents should serve, like letter detailing you duties, if you can get it, payslips if any.

If you meet all the requirements, there is no 'just because', you should get ITA.However, the question is how long will it take? ITA is points dependent, someone with 70 get an ITA before someone with 65 for the same occupation. You should also be sure that that occupation's ceiling/quota is not filled as at the time you are submitting EOI.

Good day to all the Gurus in the house.
Please I would like your advise. Am to write my cdr. But I want to apply for both on my qualification I. E my project work and IT and also my work experience. In other to get experience points. Because I ve ova eight years working experience. But my concern is that, the experience I have is not related to my nominated occupation. But I am a mechanical engineer. And I nominated mechanical engineering Draft person. Please how do I go about it.

Please I nid your urgent reply. thanks and God bless

Since your working experience is not related to mec engine I think you should write your CDR based on SIWES, I. T and final year project.

I am a fresh graduate with no working experience. During my findings i came across the duties of a civil engineering draftperson and im making sure what i write correspond.

@Ifex. Thanks for using the word 'lazy' as a lot of people do use on this platform. It wasn't necessary as you could have just done your addition and Pass or Ignore. I believe that you can swear that you have never in your life been lazy to go through or ignore any article that could have done you some sort of good.

Thanks for your addition anyways.

You will begin to ask yourself, what do I do after knowing how the points are calculated. The first step is to know whether your skill/occupation is among the skills/occupation required or needed for migration. There are two (2) types of list which I will explain below.

1. Skilled Occupation List (SOL)... Find the link below

https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Work/Work/Skills-assessment-and-assessing-authorities/skilled-occupations-lists/SOL

2. Consolidated Sponsored Occupation List (CSOL).... Find the link below.

https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Work/Work/Skills-assessment-and-assessing-authorities/skilled-occupations-lists/CSOL

Where your occupation is in any of the two lists will determine what subclass you can apply for. If you see your occupation in SOL list, you can apply for subclass 189, if it is on CSOL list, you can apply for either 190 or 489 which are states/regional areas sponsored visa. However, you can find your occupation in both list, it means you can apply for any of the three if you don't meet up to 60 points on your own, you will need either 5 or 10 points from State or Regional area as the case may be.

On the list, in front of each occupation is ANZSCO code and Assessing authority. The code is the occupation code for easy reference and the assessing authority is the body responsible for assessing your claimed skill/occupation and qualification.

Once you find your occupation on any of the list, go to the assessing authority website to know requirements needed for your assessment. Each assessing authority has different requirements, so it is not a one size fits all. All the assessing authority can be reached by clicking them on any of the list (it will direct you to their website).

Some assessing authorities require that you meet a minimum level in English language by writing IELTS/TOEFL/OET/PTE while some do not require English language score. Detailed information can be found on your assessing authority's website.

Because you need points from English language test, there is no rule as which is to do first, either write English or assess our skill. However, for those that their assessing authority requires English language test, you must write one first before submitting application for assessment. If your body doesn't need the test before assessment, you can write later or same time as assessment. Endeavour to score at least a proficient score as outlined above to get minimum of 10 points depending on your circumstances.

Once you get a positive response/assessment from your assessing authority, you are 80% done with the application. Next step is to fill in the Expression of Interest which can be found in the link here https://skillselect.gov.au/SKILLSELECT/ExpressionOfInterest/PreReg/Start

After filling the EOI, wait to be invited, once invited, apply for your visa... do medical test and police report, then wait for your visa approval which unlike before is no longer slow to be approved.

If you are diligent and follow the process through, it should take you maximum of 9 months from scratch to visa approval going by the current trend...

Good day, please I want to ask if these assessing authorities do interview applicants to actually confirm that he/she actually is skilled in the skill he/she nominated. How do they confirm that the person actually has/gains the skills?

thanks for the response very helpful
Bimpsy99:
My own little understanding. Your spouse may give you additional 5 points if he passes the skilled assessment in his profession and has at least competent in English (either academic or general training) and lastly if his skill in on the same list as your SOL or CSOL depending on the class of visa you require. However, the decision on whether he will take academic or general can only be made if you check the requirement of his assessing body. I understand for IT inclined people, ACS does not require English test but for accountants Academic version of English test is required. I trust this clarifies. You may not necessary need your spouse's skill assessment if you can achieve enough points from English test and work experience. Accounting is a very competitive profession and currently 70 points is needed for a class 189 visa.

If your spouse is in another profession that is less competitive and he has enough work experience, either of you or even both (diff EOIs) can be the principal applicant. Oga Bellong and other experts please correct me if I am wrong grin. I will suggest you go through this link to calculate your points and read more on the classes of visa. wink

https://www.acacia-au.com/skilled-migration-points-test.php

In addition, this may help; You may need to pay more upon lodging your visa application if you cant prove that your spouse has at least functional English, whether through English test or previous studies in English language.

https://www.acacia-au.com/skilled-english.php

Functional English[i]

If your spouse or partner has less than functional English, then you would need to pay the "English Education Charge" to cover English language tuition in applying for skilled migration.
You can show you have functional English ability by providing evidence of one of the following:

Completion of a degree, higher degree, diploma or trade certificate that required at least 2 years of study in English medium
Completion of all years of primary education and at least 3 years of secondary education in English medium; or
Completion of at least 5 years of secondary education in English medium; or
Scoring at least 4.5 averaged over the four components of the IELTS test within the 12 months before application, or during processing; or
Completion in Australia of at least 1 year of full-time study or equivalent part-time study towards a degree, higher degree, diploma, or associate diploma in English medium.
In some circumstances, functional English can be established via interview
You can also demonstrate functional English by completing an English test and scoring as follows:

Test component Average across test components only
IELTS 4.5
TOEFL iBT 8
PTE Academic 30
OET n/a
Cambridge (CAE) 147
