Police are holding 17 Nigerians over claims of questionable immigration status.

They were arrested in a swoop in Mlolongo, off Mombasa Road, Machakos County, and found with 48 laptops.

Police said those arrested were staying in groups of between three and four, and that some of them are believed to be in the country illegally because their visas had expired.

Head of Special Crimes Prevention Unit Noah Katumo said the laptops were handed over to the cybercrime unit for analysis to check if they were involved in any form of fraud.

"We have invited officials from immigration and other units to help in checking their activities in the country. They claim to have come as tourists and businessmen but some of the suspects' visas have expired," said Mr Katumo.

Locals had apparently complained that some of the suspects were involved in crime hence the police move. Katumo said the operation will continue until all foreigners who are in the country illegally are arrested.

Are you sure the country mentioned is not upto to your feet?
Are you aware of the following facts about Kenya?
1. Education

-There is free primary education in Kenya
-Secondary education fee is subsidised i.e the government pays part of the fee
- University students are given loans by the government to pay fees+ accommodation, etc. The loans are repaid when graduates start working.
So whether you come from a poor or rich family you can get educated easily...the only difference is that some rich people take their kids to private schools, which are expensive

2. Health
-There is free maternal health care i.e women deliver free of charge in public hospitals
-Children under 5 are treated free of charge in govt hospitals
-Accident victims can be treated in any hospital before they pay even a kobo. So this prevents unnecessary deaths....can you say the same about .. ? It's against the law to turn away a patient in an emergency situation

3. Ever heard of 24/7 electricity supply?
Electricity is cheap. People don't use generators. Think of the money spent by Nigerians in buying generators, fuels, etc. What could people be doing with such money? Developing themselves. Think of the noise and smoke from generators...think of the lives lost to generator fumes. Kenyans don't experience these

Come to think of it.. if Kenya is as bad as some Nigerian bloggers and Nairalanders want to make you believe, what were the 17 Nigerians doing there? Why didn't they leave when their visas expired? Why couldn't they renew their visas? The area that they were living in is not even a middle class suburb in Nairobi. It's just an ordinary place .... meaning they weren't able to live in places where expatriates and who is who in Nairobi live

There are so many positive facts I can write about Kenya, but lemme stop here

To all the people with negative opinions about Kenya, Google is your friend

I have no reason to lie.
Truth is there are so many opportunities for Kenyans and good things are happening there. For example, there is a youth fund, and a women fund...there is a laid down structure governing the two. Women and the youth access low interest loans easily. They do business or invest in whatever they want and then return the loan. This has helped a lot of people.

Most of the stories you read about Kenya are not even in the mainstream Kenyan media. It's just bloggers or individuals who are hell bent in generating traffic that look for such stories.
Life in Kenya is good.

My sister, don't mind them. Some people are so ignorant it is unbelievable. They are the giants of Africa in boasting only. The shame is that most of them don't even know it.

well, all these that were written about kenya are truth.. Kenya is 1000 times better than Nigeria. Ever since i have been here in kenya, i have never seen a sitaution of power faliure here in kenya, and there's always stable clean water. Apart from that, their economy is really strong... even their currency exchange rate right now to naira is ksh3.5 to #1. can u imagine u having 30 thousand shillngs and its like 100k to naira. the fact is that NIgeria is messed up really!!! I talk am for one my earlier posts today say na fraudulent activities most Nigerians are doing in Kenya!
,
They rent apartments in groups, stay indoors all day "yahooing" as internet is cheap and electricity is 24/7 and to collect the proceeds from their "jobs" is so easy as they do not need to go through banks as it goes straight to their mobile phones and the money cashed out from kiosks nearby. At night they go clubbing making the most noise and spending money lavishly.

Any Nigerian that wants to stay quietly in Kenya without any issues stays away from most Nigerians. It is safer lo live far away from fellow Nigerians as they tend to attract trouble.

The issue is that after deportation those guys will still find their way back through a third country and enter by road through night bus. I was shocked to see one who was deported in April here in Nairobi just few days ago and back to his yahoo ways! cheesy

Truth be told, Kenya sweet! cheesy cheesy cheesy

Apart from 24 /7 light, Kenya is as useless as Nigeria.

Bad roads and poverty is glaring.

Do me a favour, buy a ticket to kenya. When you arrive get your visa at the entry with $50 and see the difference between the two Nations.
Kenya is a wonderful place, pretty good weather, consumable oxygen, beautiful citizen willing to assist for free and a peaceful place.
Nevertheless, the babes are in a whole world of their own, taking ownership, getting involved and picking up the bills. Not hard to please the Kenyan ladies.
To this end, most Nigerian won't want to come back.
