I always wonder, are there people in this world who feels joy whenever they are in the kitchen or is just a necessity for us to go into the kitchen?
as for me the latter is the case. oh! how I hate cooking most especially when the whether is hot.

BUT
the question is must a woman know how to cook? must she be that perfect chef, whom people should bite their tongue at the taste of her food?

your answer should be with reasonable reasons

I often heard this phrase that 'another woman will snatch your husband if you don't know how to cook' like uuhhh? Is food the essence of our living?

Shouldn't it be a thing of choice?

My own opinion?
she must not know how to cook
If your wife/girlfriend cannot cook, I don't think its a sin for you to teach her or better still do the cookings yourself.

I don't want to be harsh on u.

But this is akin to

"Must a man satisfy his wife/gf on bed"?
" must a man be the head of the family"?
"Must a man provide and protect his family"?
"Must a woman be over protective of her child"?
"Must a woman take care of her kids"?

If most of ur answers to my question is "YES". Then u have a serious problem with your sense of reasoning as to ask if it is a must that a woman should know how to cook.

For crying out loud, what sort of generation of people are being given birth to these days?

yes we don't but then their those stress were home-based stress. is it not when you sit in one place you will think of cooking?

Honey!!! No matter how long you wanna argue this, you truly have no point.

It may not keep your man but is just one of the most important criteria as a woman. Being a woman have made it a must for you whether you like it or not.

If you don't, you will be teased and insulted.

cooking is nobody's duty.
what if you marry me and we do it like this, you cook today I cook tomorrow grin
Lmao, hahahaha you must be kidding me.
I am your husband, i married you, paid your bride price and religiously, culturally and in all ways, i am the head of the home, i am your head and your boss.
Sharing meals for me to cook for you is a sign of disrespect and dishonour as your husband, you should respect and honour me, just as you will not share cooking responsibility with your father at home, that is how it should be in our home. for i am your demi god.
Note: I will love and respect you but one of the ways to love me back is for you to prepare my favourite food for me, anyday i ask.

Don't even use our mothers, because most were stay-at-home mum, full housewives. but now women work and also bring money to the family.

the both of us goes to work and we are both tired, then we have to share the responsibility.

Plus, i said I hate cooking, I didn't say I don't know how to Cook. difference

not knowing how to cook doesn't mean you will never cook, like I said, its a necessity. and I believe there other options when you don't feel like it.

can't imagine entering the kitchen, morning afternoon, night because of food
With this mentality of yours you'd be having kitchen issues with your husband, and as you already know the only trail to a man's heart is through his stomach.

Maybe you haven't come across the concept of division of labour and specialisation. That's how the family is supposed to be run. You handle your part, I handle mine so that there'd be efficiency. For your self and the society and not bcz of a man. The society expects you to know, you children will expect you to know.

Look honey, there's a great joy and pride when your man tell you... Honey" I love the taste of your food, he boasts to his friends that his wife is not just a good cook but a great one. That's a plus for you cz they will look forward to taste your meal, and if unfortunately for them, their wives can't cook as you, you will become a positive example. Your kids too will say " wow our mum is a super cook".

My bros wife isn't a good cook and by extent ion, she hates cooking. But she must cook bcz no one will cook for her and her kids neither will I cook for her husband cz he's married.

But even after she cooks, the husband wouldn't like to eat it neither will her kids except there's no other available option. Now my dear, imagine how you will feel if such happens to you as a woman!!

My bro is a good cook but he can't be cooking for his family every day. He cooks whenever he want to eat a good food. You can't be feeding your family with junks under the guise of being busy.

It's one thing not to know how to cook, it's another thing to be willing to learn.

For me, I feel good when there are people around to eat my food and tell me how good it tastes.

My younger sister hates to cook but she's a great cook.

You get the difference?

Everybody should know how to cook but it's a must for a woman because she will soon raise people that will need to learn from her.

You don't learn to cook because of a man, it's part of your own contribution to the society grin grin grin grin

But on serious note, what would say that a girl who grew up with her parents spent her childhood days doing?

It's either she's a disobedient and irresponsible child or her parents failed her and neither of them is good news.

I can make you fall in love with cooking if you're interested.

Lol so you are using work as an excuse.
let me tell you something about marriage.
marriage is not something you go into if you are not ready to make sacrifices for your family.
fine the both of you are working, but its your marital responsibility to close early and make sure that you prepare meal for your husband and children.
By the way, Who told you our mothers sit at home all day?
Do you know how hard they had to work, go to the farm and toll for hours, go to the village markets to sell for hours, yet they had to make sure that their families are well fed.
In truth, he should know how to cook but its not your hubby's duty to start cooking for the family on daily basics.
he can help out at times, that fine.
I think the problem with ladies like you is westernization and feminism but need i remind you that few days earlier "RIHANA was videod in the kitchen cooking for her family.
Since nobody is correcting the 2 of you. There's no such English as ' The both of you'
It's either "The two of you" or 'both of you'
The both of you is incorrect.
Thank you as u make amendments.

Hello African Apple,
I will like to make some contributions on the subject of discussiom. Well, I did not read your post completely. This economy recession does not permit 1 to waste time on frivolent matter nowadays so I didn't even bother to read all. Call me lazy, yea maybe but the issue is About a Lady knowing how to cook.
1. One man's food is another man's poison, whicheva way you are in this life, one person is out there dat will love you just d way you are. Don't work yourself up on issues like this.
2. Being a lazy cook is different from not knowing how to cook. If you are a lazy cook. 2 things are involved,1. it's either you cook d food you and your family will eat in a week once and for all, thank God we have freezers, microwave etc.. 2. You cook once a while and supplement it with already made food purchase. I'm sure adunni foods at Ojodu Berger will be so glad to take a bite from your salary. They sell different kind of soups
In different massive quantities. Even if u want to do a small party and u dont want to cook, holla, they will fix u up.
3. The world has changed so much now from d olden days where d HUSBAND is d sole provider of d house thus making d wife the sole care taker of d house but nowadays, husband and wife in many houses both hustle to bring some mulla in. As a responsible husband that appreciates d effort of d wife because the work she's doing and money shes bringin should be your job but as things are way terrible in d country ATM, she sef be human being, wheneva your wife comes late and uve been home earlier. As a man, don't sit in ur condo and be waiting for her to come to prepare dinner.. It's important that a man come in d capacity of d wife when circumstances permits. It's all love.
4. @AfricalApple It is compulsory for a woman to know how to cook. Pls take note of that. I don't want to hear the story of how d HUSBAND can teach her how to cook when they finally get married. If you are so matured and grown up to d age of 25 and still don't know how to cook. You can't know how to cook again. Just forget it. Means, u have no interest in knowing and you don't feel d need to know. Simple
Men nowadays should realise that Women are not meant to do all d necessary home care, it's a union, there's no schedule roster. Whichever way you can help your wife, be it in d kitchen, doing some laundries, arranging d kids room, taking d kids to school and etc. You can go ahead and help her. It's not a must she will be d one to fix all this. Help your wives but back to d amatter. If you think you are ready for marriage but you don't know how to cook yet, the time u spent hunting for guys on Instagram, take am register for 1 small catering school, learn how to cook. You won't die
