Hmmm, it is nw too glaring d reasons why most people do nt wan't to be a Primary/secondary school teacher. I like teaching but God FORBID that i should end dis career in primary/secondary school, NEVER! However, Lecturing in Higher institutions are where d flavour of teaching job can be found and i would do all it requires to see myself there because with what am seeing it is axiomatic that Primary/secondary schools teaching jobs are meant for women. Imagine five months without pay and no one is coughing even our Almighty NUT has turned into a paper tiger. Can this Govt dare Lecturers with this kind of expensive joke?
Common Sense is not just common...Well said brother.

This man doesn't care about the welfare of teachers in Rivers State, all he care for is how he can embark on frivolous contracts and have his own cut or share in the contract sum which is 10%.

This is evil and totally condemnable for keeping breadwinners of various families in hunger and starvation.
God is watching!

May it never get to dis in Rivers State!!
Amen.
YENAGOA —–The Governor of Bayelsa State, Henry Seriake Dickson has approached the the State House of Assembly seeking to pass a bill to empower him pay fifty percent (50%) salaries across board.
NEXTNEWSLIVE.COM gathered that, the said bill has thrown the house into serious confusion and this time even among members loyal to the governor.
A PDP stalwart from Southern Ijaw local government area of the state who spoke in confidence said, the move by Dickson has infuriated a ninety-five percent (95%) dominated house of assembly.
The source further revealed that, eleven (11) out of the twenty-four (24) members has accepted to help push the bill for fear of falling out with the governor while the other thirteen (13) are still not in agreement to a move that will worsen the already suffering civil servants.
She further expressed sadness over what she called "an act to perpetually impoverish civil servants who would be imprisoned for the next four years.”
Governor Dickson if given the nod by the state house of assembly will be paying civil servants half salaries through out his tenure without questions from any worker as he would be backed by law to do so.
Recall, governor Dickson has been paying workers in the state half salaries for more than six months with paucity of funds as reason pending when the economy allows payment of full salaries.

Does it mean that no teacher in this forum called in to ask questions during the live program when the NUT Chairman was on air? I tried tuning in from Bayelsa State where I am now but I couldn't get a clear signal. It still baffles me that nobody is talking about what they asked the NUT Chairman and what his response was. October 8th will determine my next line of action. As for now, NO PAY - NO WORK.

Re: Rivers State Teachers Recruitment 2012 by Nobody: 6:05am On Oct 06, 2016
Nigeria has some of the highest paid politicians and some of the lowest paid teachers. Flip this equation and Nigeria will develop! On this World Teachers Day, I thank Nigeria's teachers and urge that salaries of politicians be reduced so that teachers salary can be increased! Teachers are much more relevant to the progress of Nigeria than we politicians. A well paid teacher is a better teacher but is a well paid legislator a better legislator? My name is Ben Murray-Bruce and I just want to make commonsense!

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC ) and her cohorts plotting to transplant the Edo State rigging model in Rivers State will fail as the people of the state will resist them.

He stated: "Anyone planning to steal our mandate will be resisted. Nobody can intimidate us. They will rig themselves into the water".

He spoke on Wednesday while flagging off the reconstruction of Bonny Jetty at the Bille/Bonny/Nembe Waterfront in Port Harcourt.

The governor stressed that INEC and pliant security agencies will not be allowed to use the Edo governorship election model in Rivers State.

"I hear some persons celabrating that they will repeat what they did in Edo State, here in Rivers State. Somebody who is suffering from malaria can say anything. But nobody will use the police to rig the rerun elections in Rivers State

"If you want to take our mandate by force, you will go by force. All the people of Rivers State must remain vigilant. INEC may want to take us unawares ", Governor Wike said.

On the flag off of the reconstruction of Bonny Jetty, Governor Wike said that the project is aimed at developing a quality water transport jetty where safety and security is promoted .

He said that the reconstruction of the jetty is in fulfilment of the pledge that he made to the people of the area during the electioneering campaign.

He said: "The day I came here to inspect this facility, I wept because of the condition of the jetty. We will develop it into a modern jetty.

"All the roads in the township suburb will also be rehabilitated by Julius Berger."

Governor Wike while asking the residents of the area to support the contractor to deliver the contract on schedule, he charged the contractor to employ the residents of the area in the course of reconstruction work.

In his remarks, Commissioner for Transport, Mr Akie Fubara said the Bonny Jetty will have a new jetty walkway and platform, terminal building housing arrival and departure lounges, improved driveway, retention wall and enhanced car parks.

Managing Director of Raffoul NigeriaLimited, Mr Hana Raffoul assured that the jetty will be constructed in line with international standards.

Thousands of residents turned out to welcome Governor Wike and celebrate the project. The Bonny Jetty was to left to degenerate several years after it was constructed.

It is the main gateway to Bonny and Bille in Rivers State and Nembe in Bayelsa State.

I called one of my father's boy who is a senior accountant in the Ministry of Finance yesterday and he said salaries will be paid next week unless they hear otherwise from the Governor between yesterday and Friday. My Zonal Director also told me yesterday evening that we shouldn't expect salary this week but we will be paid three months salary next week. I thought it wise to share this information in this forum.

Hmmmmmm, from the payroll officer(as at close of work yesterday). They got d governor approval for one month(specifically April) plus sept yesterday. They will act on it today(Thursday).
That subsequent month will follow same pattern till all outstanding are clear.
My take therefore is it can come any moment from now, it the paper work is not hindered.
Meanwhile, Toothless NUT will be meeting today for a next step. Though I don't expect anything from it.
Thanks

"The Rivers State government clearly does not respect teachers and they are joking with education in the state. Thousands of our teachers have been owed since March, some of them February, and the commissioner of information would come on air to say they are not owing anybody? It's ok, we will take our destiny into our hands."

On the alleged non payment of salaries of some teachers in the state, Ebeku said that government is not owing any teachers, but that if there is any one yet to be paid, that such couldemanate from incomplete Biometrics.According to him, the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) had raised such issues, but that they are yet to comply with the instructions given to them, adding that it is determined not to oweany teacher in its employ who has been captured in the biometrics.“NUT had been discussing with me and their claim is that some teachers in some local governments are being owed up to seven months. I have asked them to produce information that will enable me identify this.“As we speak, two weeks have gone I have not received any document or information and in case there is any one being owed, it is not a deliberate action to owe him. It has to do with theissue of incomplete biometric.“They need to pursue it to logical conclusion, and in case somebody has done that and is being owed, it means there is little thing to tidy up in the ministry of finance, and I can assure you that no single one will be left unpaid”, the commissioner said.
