here's one thing I practice . sounds stupid but it saves me alot

when you are angry count to 100 before you act. when very angry count to one thousand. before you are through with counting, your anger have subsided then you can make good judgement

as for the relationship, understanding is key. you have both started off on the wrong foot. don't try to settle things over the phone. go and meet her. even if things don't work out, you are both better off as friends than enemies
