What could be the issue if your phone only operates with 2g but doesn't get reception when you switch to 3G only. Even at 2G/3G, it hardly conncts

After changing a sim on my phone and turning it back on, it started requesting I provide some privacy protection password. I've tried the normal password I use but it keeps telling me "wrong password". I've even done a factory reset but the 'password' request is still there. What do I do about that?

PS: The phone is Kimfly City X1 on Android 5.0 Marsh...
