Additional tips to aid choosing/applying to universities: 1. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT apply to universities in a hurry with a mediocre GRE. There's absolutely no hurry, and you could postpone the intake by a semester or an entire year, if need be. Getting into a mediocre university with a mediocre GRE is a lose-lose situation; does no good to anybody in the end of the day. 2. It's true that ranks don't matter, but don't use that as an excuse to settle for whatever university you get. This is another grievous mistake that candidates commit. Better the university you get into, better are your chances of working in better equipped labs and tutored by brilliant professors. 3. A university that's highly renowned for one department might be downright mediocre for another. For example, University of Arizona's Eller College of Management is the fourth best school in the U.S. for MIS, while not that good for other courses. Keep that in mind while probing the department's strength/weakness. 4. Although it's technically possible to transfer to another university after the first semester, it comes with its own bundle of hassles. For once, the credits you've earned in the present university might or might not be fully transferred to the prospective university. Furthermore, it's cumbersome to get acclimated to a new university and start fresh in the middle of the academic year. Attempt to transfer if and only if you feel you can not at all survive in the university. 5. Choose departments solely based on your interest and passion, not on the basis of job market. Job market is highly unpredictable, and it's not worth risking getting into something you don't like doing. Trust me, academics in MS is highly research-oriented and hectic. You wouldn't survive a day with the courses you loath/hate learning about. 6. Choose universities according to what works best for your scenario, your interests. Blindly getting into a university just because you've been told that it's really "awesome" for the course you're looking for can backfire. Go through the curriculum/syllabus carefully before deciding. Hope these points help u ! Cc |

icehood:Look for a good school bro... Application fee shouldn't be an obstacle. I got mine waived after I finished applying! You just have to know the right thing to say to them! But check this list out: https://colleges.niche.com/rankings/colleges-with-no-application-fee/ Or you can pick results from this search: https://www.google.com/search?q=us%20universities%20with%20no%20application%20fees&hl=en-GB&gws_rd=ssl I really don't know any that do not require GRE but others here may know like this wonderful lady Lagosismyhome Safe! |

| Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 10 by Mayflowa(m): 9:35am On Nov 08, 2016 |
boneruns:YES You have to declare and release all your previous education that span one year and above for US admission application. |

| Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 10 by PRYCE01(m): 9:49am On Nov 08, 2016 |
ipledge01:I emailed the admissions office and told them that I couldn't do it at that moment and I'm really interested in going to their school... plus the deadlines were approaching! They told me to have my councillor submit a request on my behalf and then I told them I've not been in contact with him for a while so it'll be inappropriate to have him send a request on my behalf as he's not up to date with my current financial status. And voila, they waived it and I was able to submit my application! ...yeah I was telling THE TRUTH! Application fee is the easiest thing to have waived by U.S Universities. Tuition and other fees, that na another story! Unless you sell yourself to them in ways that would have everyone in admissions crying. |
