NIGERIAN ARMED FORCES TO STRENGTHEN MILITARY RELATIONSHIP WITH UKRAINE The Nigerian Military has expressed its readiness to partner with the Ukrainian government in the areas of Military technology and equipment. The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Abayomi Gabriel Olonisakin made this known on Wednesday when the Ambassador of Ukraine to Nigeria, Dr. Valerii Aleksandruk visited him at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja. The CDS noted that it is the policy of Nigeria to deal directly with governments of countries where it has any interest and promised to study the business proposal submitted by the Ambassador on behalf of Ukrainian companies and take stock of areas of interest to the Military. Speaking earlier, Ambassador Aleksandruk commended the already existing Nigeria-Ukraine bilateral relationship and asked for it to be further strengthened especially in the areas of Military and education. While submitting a business proposal to the CDS, the diplomat disclosed the readiness of Ukrainian companies which produces Military hardware to make presentations to the Nigerian Armed Forces on equipment that will help Nigeria in its fight against terrorism. He said the companies are ready to transfer some technology to Nigeria and make it a hub to West Africa and other African countries

bidexiii: Our National hero in times of scarcity of heroes and role models. We are inundated with corrupt leaders and looters. A Muslim fighting the bigotry of terrorism under the guise of Islam...your name has echoes in the great halls of time with men of honour. You are far greater than your past commander in chief, talk less of other so-called leaders. I saw pic from the past of you being recognised in Mubi and it occured to me that your gallantry was witnessed and reputed at all fronts of the #CION. Thank you for giving us sound sleep and peaceful days. God bless your patriotism and sacrifice. I wish a national holiday is declared in honor of you and your fellow gallant soldiers. Nigeria's call obeyed. 2 Likes

giles14:1. Enlarged Thermal image Sighting for Certain rifles 2. Night Fighting Equipment that is NOT limited to NVGs 3. More Mortar Systems and Fragmentation mortars 4. There is compelling evidence on the battlefield that more and more SF are being trained as Snipers. 5. Better *******s 6. The QRF of the NAF is being steadily increased. 7. At the minimum there are 50 + pilots being trained in the US, UK and South AFRICA 8. There are more NA and NAF pilots being trained than at anytime since the Civil war. Lastly there is stuff being considered that can't be discussed due to the sensitive nature of it NIGERIA will get her JF17s, her SUPER muschaks and it is very likely her very own indigienous second APC and inevitably her own dedicated Military satellite , they are already heading in that direction hard. |

giles14: Are you comparing a regime that embezzled funds in hard currency whort billions in dollars. With the present administration. Jonathan defences minsters/advisers and generals rented helicopters, bought T-72 tanks for the price of new t-90 tanks.......the list is endless. infact with that kind of money they ought to av bought the JF 17 and the helicopters needed to give ground troops the air support needed. So don't be haste for the JF's, it was Jonathan administration that should av bought those jets. 1 Like |

U.S. air strike in Somalia killed local militia, not al Shabaab A September U.S. air strike in Somalia killed local militia forces and not al Shabaab militants as the Pentagon had initially believed, the U.S. military acknowledged in a draft statement obtained by Reuters on Thursday. The Sept. 28 strike in Somalia's Galkayo area killed 10 fighters and wounded three, the statement said. No civilian casualties were caused by the strike, it said. Somalia's government had asked the United States to explain the strike, which it said had been conducted against forces of the semi-autonomous, northern region of Galmudug. The errant strike illustrated the perils of Washington's efforts to battle al Shabaab, an al Qaeda-aligned group, by working with armed Somali factions that are often feuding. Shabaab has been responsible for numerous attacks, including the September 2013 siege of Kenya's Westgate shopping mall that left at least 67 dead. The day after the Sept. 28 U.S. strike in Somalia, officials in Galmudug accused a rival region, Puntland, of duping the United States into believing members of its security forces were in fact Islamist rebels. An al Shabaab spokesman told Reuters at the time it did not have any fighters in the area of the strike. The draft statement by the U.S. military's Africa Command said the air strike was carried out at the request of Puntland Security Forces "and our own assessment of the situation." A PSF-led patrol had come under attack by a group of armed fighters and in response, "the U.S. conducted a self-defense strike to neutralize the threat, killing 10 armed fighters and wounding three others," the statement said. A review of the strike, which began Oct. 4, determined that "The armed fighters were initially believed to be al-Shabaab but with further review it was determined they were local militia forces," it said. "Operating under legal authorities, U.S. forces lawfully utilized self-defense to support the PSF in response to hostile actions conducted by the armed group against a partnered force," the review concluded. "No U.S. forces were killed or injured as a result of this incident." |
