What has Nigeria done for me> and what i've I done for Nigeria?

There is an in-exhaustive list documenting how Nigeria has failed me and at large, its citizens, but I wont focus on that. My writings will be based on the positive side, an opposition to negative rantings.

1. Nigeria gave me an high school education FREE OF CHARGE.

My parents are not rich, and to be honest, they are poor. If high school education is not free, I wont be able to get the necessary educational certificate that helped me secured a tuition free scholarship to Finland, and further helped my academical careers. The education was not the best, it was filled with challenges and corporal-punishment was a disciplinary norm, nevertheless, its undeniable that it lay the foundation to thrive to post secondary education.

2. Nigeria thought me how to appreciate little things.

Nigeria is a country where the rich also suffer. The application of poverty in Nigeria is not merely social, nor a thing of class, but structural in nature. What I mean by being structural is that even if I am a dollar millionaire, me and my wealth is still subject to the same erratic supply as everyone, my kids will go to school infested with cultism, lecturer given grades depending on his emotional states, candidate bribery, potential sexual interest, to name a few. I still fear that I might die if an emergency life-threaten sickness occurs, due to the not-so sophisticated health care system. What i'm I trying to say?

Living in the west made me appreciate little things I didn't enjoy in Nigeria, thing people here takes for granted. The feeling that I do not have to worry about power supply, or if I will starve during job loss is refreshing. That if anything happens, to me, regardless of the medical cost, I wont pay a dime to get the best of medical service. If I didnt experience a basis for comparison, I will probably not see the beauty in it.

and what i've I done to Nigeria?

Well, I remit money back home monthly to support some of my relatives, and also, I have plans to set up a business in the nearest future. I still consider Nigeria my home, and the only place I will be 100% comfortable and a sense of community belonging, something I do not feel here. I hope it counts.

What has Nigeria done for me?

Honestly, absolutely nothing, unless my occupying a space is something. I have never gained anything for being a Nigerian, neither has any member of my family. So, Nigeria has never done anything for me.

In fact, in 2001 I went to jail because I' am a Nigerian. I was then living in Togo republic, and one morning around 3.00 am the Togo police were going from house to house looking for Nigerians. Why? Because, they said a Nigerian commited a crime, so they went about knocking doors, waking and arresting innocent Nigerians for what they know nothing about. I spent 2 weeks in jail, no statement taken. My next door neigbor who was a Ghanaian was not arrested.

The Nigeria police has also detained me illegally right here in Nigeria twice.

What have I done for Nigeria?

I have never stolen money from the Nigerian government or people. I abide by the law of the land. I have bought and cleared many cars from Nigerian sea ports and paid my taxes. I pay my value added tax - VAT each time I buy anything in Nigeria and by so doing has given a lot of money to the Nigerian government over the years.

I represented Nigeria in a competition, if not because of poor-officiating, I probably would have gotten to the final and possibly win the tournament.

I'm not too sure what Nigeria has done for me.

What has Nigeria done for me?

Are kidding? Nigeria has really done a lot for me. I owe my success to my parents and my country Nigeria.

What have I done to Nigeria?

Actually, I have an NGO foundation in Nigeria that is changing lives and assisting financially handicapped and distressed people. Unlike thousands of NGOs in Nigeria, my foundation privately funded. Every year, I take a portion of my earnings and give it away to families and individuals that are struggling financially and I have been doing this for many years. 20 families benefit from my foundation every year. I visit Nigeria twice every year and feel so much at home because I believe that it is only a crazy person that burns the bridge to his or her past. Go Nigeria cheesy
This is so amazing. May God Bless You for doing what you do.

to most Nigerian, me inclusive, Nigerian has actually done nothing to make us a proud citizen of the country. even common basic amenities are hardly available and the few that are available are few with exorbitant price.

for me, aside from the free basic education I enjoy from beginner's school to secondary school and the subsidized tertiary education I enjoy, I haven't really enjoyed so much from the country.

on what I have do e for the country. I have taught in a private school before to impact my little knowledge to the young folks sitting for their ssce exams. also volunteer to teach for those who just wrote the last jamb just for the co ordinator to reject my proposal. but I believe there is still much to gain from this country if we stay hopeful.

to those blasting the country and calling her all sort of names, remember this is your number one country. you got Evey reason to be angry at the govt not the country. if a Kenyan read any of your post and use it against all of us, suddenly your folks will turn to cyberlord defending your so to speak failed country.

what have i done for Nigeria?...

(i) i am law abiding citizen paying my taxes as required by law.

(ii) I am the 1st Nigerian who started the vanguard against corrupting in 1984 & 1985...check most daily papers archive.

(iii) Again, i wrote the feature Article Titled: "TIME TO KILL CORRUPTION"..(a.k.a Nigeria-Must-Kill-Corruption)..which is

the "mantra" ..the Muhammadu Buhari's... APC govt was using to fight corruption in Nigeria today...

see.. "TELL MAGAZINE"..dated JUNE 3, 2014...Although the PRESIDENT

was yet to give me.. 'a handshake'.. for being wrongly credit with my personal effort...

by so called overzealous and favor seeking Aides!

Though, i stand to be corrected if any can dare the truth with facts and figures like mine.

What has Nigeria done for me:

(i) God Almighty made it possible that i was born a Nigerian by Nigerian parents.
(ii) worked hard as a kid without parental help to get my education in this same
(iii) By the grace of God, iam happily married with children and Ministers as a servant of God in this same Nigeria today.

Let's appreciate God in everything if you think your case is worse then, travel to the land of the dead..then you will change
your mind about any negative impression you share on the above question.

Nigeria has ONLY given me birth right through God.

What I have done for Nigeria? I was privileged to be educated by my parents ONLY. I have provided water for myself, electricity by myself, struggled to provide life for myself and my dependents. Provided everything for human existence by myself.

Nigeria ONLY provided Hardship, Hunger, Darkness, wickedness by our leaders to myself and has done nothing for me since my existence.

Paid taxes honestly, trained junior employees and Industrial Training students on techniques, and also especially on honesty, encouraged some of them to get more educated, created some (well, just a few) jobs, commented constructively on NL.

Provided me with a good education that I would have had to go into massive debt over had I been in say, the US. Provided an enabling environment for my biz. Provided a (relatively) safe environment for my family. Gave me the opportunity to led a fulfilled life with plenty of good friends, honest clients and nice colleagues. And many many more. I like Nigeria. Never wanted to go sweat double shifts overseas.
