Oruebebe saw what most couldn't see. The fact is there. Even the electoral reform Gej started has bin jettisoned by buhari. Our economy is worst and the naira now seems it's heading down the dungeon. Companies are folding up, few that exist are cutting it's workforce salaries.

Your assertions are simplistic and naive. There is always a cause and effect. The economy of the nation was already spiralling down before GEJ left, and was one of the reasons he lost reelection. Unimaginable, the FG even borrowed to pay salaries before he left. PMB though also made some mistakes, but is encumbered in trying to clear the mess of the past administrations.

4trillion naira at $165 = $24billion; crude oil sales averaged $110/barrel
6trillion naira at $385 = $15billion; crude oil sales peaked at $42/barrel.

This is our purchasing power in the world market which is popularly referred to as FX under the said comparative administration of GEJ & PMB.
It is instructive to note that this FX largely contribute to our GDP and consequently our standard of living as a consumer dependent economy whose major source of income is crude oil sales.

Sometimes you guys chunk out information without depth to defend your sentiment. undecided

Easy man. As much as there was a huge difference in the FX, oil was never on $110 during the 4trillion budget by GEJ....

However, our purchasing power is weaker now.

When Buhari place a ban on use of forex for foreign transactions what was he and his economic team thinking? to make naira equal to dollar and what is the end result ? reverse became the case and to show how clueless they were, they have been reversing all the policies which shows a government that is confused. To show how incompetent this government is, they told us the refineries are working only to come back later to say otherwise. They deny industries forex yet subsidies forex for pilgrims.

My people say ' when you put a baby in the bathtub to take his birth by himself, he will only concentrate on his stomach area.'

This is exactly what happens when inexperienced people are given office to administer.

They will think that they are working, howbeit it is a wasted time and effort.

This is the motive for "change "

No matter how GEJ and his team decided to do, the economy wouldn't have been this bad if GEJ had continued.

This team of Buhari is the worst team Nigeria could have.

Not supporting Orubebe though.

you are so on point, i'm tired of brainless people saying GEJ is a saint. This is basic economics, yet university graduates would still say shit.

You forgot to add militants that are adding to the hardship in full support of Gej, Mama peace and Tompolo....sad part is that majority still support them even though they are also affected.

Let me agree with you on this, but the entire country is suffering this hardship called recession. GEJ planned a budget of 4trillion naira and the country was sailing smoothly. Buhari put up a budget of over 6trillion naira, and people are dying everyday of hunger and millions more a packing from the cities back to the village. My question is this. If Orubebe was doing this for his pocket and succeeded, won't you have preferred to be able to thrive and grow to what is currently going on in the country? (that's assuming you are in Nigeria)

Illogical. PDP caused the reccession. Whatever is happening todaay was caused by Jonathan & his cohorts. Election had not even ended Jonathan had called Buhari to come and pack his shi*t.

A monumental failure since 1984, brought back in 2015 for the present to witness hardship he brings and confirm his failure record.

His illiteracy made him the only head of state overthrown without a single shot fired. All he knows is to scatter an already built system. What a juvenile attitude in an adult.

A leader plans and aims his target, not where we have buhari. He only wants a well prepared bed of roses so that he can come and roll from one end to another shinning his 32 without even bothering on how to keep the bed of roses intact. What a cow being !

It is quite funny that when most ppl quote from the history lane, they always forget the paint the full picture or maybe just never finished the history class. Coz prior to 1984 when Buhari took over, the world was already heading into recession also and it affected all countries solely dependent on crude oil badly too which is exactly what is happening again. Pls, let's paint d full picture and call a spade a spade... Buhari might not av done much to help improve d situation, but he was never d cause of this problem we are facing as a country. This is a cumulative problem of all govt from military era till date who never had plans to save for d raining days or diversify d economy.

Now let me ask you guys a simple question, whose fault is it that the dollar is where it is right now? Your president came into power, he didn't appoint a single minister till after 6months in power? Why did he place a ban on forex transactions? Foreign investors ran away when they saw a government that had no direction and full of nepotism.
President Buhari doesn't have a single idea of what he is doing. He removed fuel subsidy to save money, where is the money saved? Look at his appointments, how many of them are actually technocrats with experience and track record of achievements before politics? Non.
From his ministers to his advisers. Even the senate had to put a stop to it at the point of ambassadorial nominees.
Emancipate yourself from mental slavery.

Funny enough so useless of this Govt. they foolishly applied the fuel subsidy they condemned and denied ever existed. Imagine a Govt. that banned the importation of rice without making an immediate provision for it. A Govt. that recovered moneys he claimed was stolen without carrying the people along, till date we dnt know the total figure. So if he had been successful earlier as president this was all he has to offer to Nigeria. What a failure.

Please present your data.

GEJ left fuel at 87 per liter without queues, Buhari made it 145 per liter 8 months after, and that was after they told us his body language has repaired all the refineries.

The economy recorded 3.5% growth in 1st quarter of 2015 & went into a recession 6 months after.

Talking of causes & effect, some foreign CEOs of coys in Nigeria went to Buhari and cautioned him to tone down his rhetorics, he refused & $80 biillion in capital left Nigeria. Also, the elders of the South-south tried to seek audience with him after his swearing-in but he refused and went to U.S to call them 5% and the result is the resumption of millitancy that is responsible also for this economic mess.

Buhari is a failed leader, let him just go.
Naivety and sentiment is what u just spewed here. There's no point arguing with u lot,it'll never sink in 2 ur skulls.

If what Jonathan did by leaving pure water at 100naira per bag before he left with his igbo dominated cabinet is what u call ruining, then Buhari and his yoruba dominated cabinet dat made it 200naira per bag buried d country.

Are you for real? How did Buhari influence the downtown in the global crude oil price that led to the shortfall of our foreign reserves which should have been the buffer for the naira?
This is a simple economic theory that does not require any expertise.
