The 18-year-old defender lost her father while the Falconets were at the World Cup and the entire family are counting on her to come back and bury him. However, on return from the World Cup Wednesday afternoon, they were all shocked when they were each paid a measly 10,000 Naira to return to their various homes. A shocked Ologbosere cried all through the night and had to be rushed to hospital as a result, where she has now been admitted at the traumatic unit. “She is totally shattered by this heartless treatment,” simply reported a team official at the Serob Legacy Hotel. “It’s truly a pathetic case.” The 10,000 Naira paid each player was the only money they received from the NFF since they opened training camp for the World Cup earlier this year. The team have vowed not to leave the hotel they were booked into until they have got their cash. At the World Cup, they won two matches, against Spain and Canada. Orkpekyandega:After the world cup, okobi was no longer herself really and even struggled in Washington spirits in the NWSL( ordega's club) before going over to Sweden. The good thing about okobi though is that she's a very good passer of the ball, she may have lost everything but definitely not her vision. Though Rita is more experienced and active, l still prefer okobi slightly, but then having any of them on the pitch is still fine by me. 4 Likes |

Orkpekyandega:I'm surprised, because with the game against Kenya, we should have tried out the likes of ijeoma obi and Gloria iroka to see if they are more creative midfielders or better passers of the ball than Rita and Halimatu, but they were not used at all. We need players who can put the ball at the feet of oshoala and ordega easily, and l hope oparanozie would no longer sit on the bench at this stage of the competition, anyway let's see how it goes. For the fourth time, the Falcons will be facing South Africa in the semi-final of the tournament. Ahead of the clash, Comple tesportsnigeria.com's JAMES AGBEREBI takes a look at how both teams have fared against each other in the AWCON since their first meeting in 2000… NIGERIA 2-0 SOUTH AFRICA (FINAL: AWCON 2000) The Super Falcons met Banyana Banyana for the first time at the Africa Women's Cup of Nations in the 2000 edition hosted by South Africa. Both teams played all the way to the final with the Falcons winning 2-0 to claim their second straight African title. The final was however abandoned due to crowd trouble when the Falcons scored their second goal but the trophy was later awarded to the Nigerian ladies. NIGERIA 5-0 SOUTH AFRICA (SEMI-FINAL: AWCON 2002) At the 2002 AWCON hosted by Nigeria, the Falcons finished second behind Ghana in group A and squared off against South Africa in the semi-final. The Falcons went on to win 5-0 against South Africa to progress into their third straight final. In the final, the Falcons avenged their group stage defeat to Ghana, winning 2-0 to emerge champions. NIGERIA 2-0 SOUTH AFRICA (GROUP STAGE: AWCON 2006) For the first time the Falcons and South Africa were drawn in the same group during the 2006 AWCON which Nigeria hosted. Going into the last group game, the Falcons on six points, triumphed 2-0 against South Africa who also went into the game after winning their first two group games. Both teams qualified for the semi-final with the Falcons going on to win the tournament. NIGERIA 1-0 S/AFRICA (GROUP STAGE: AWCON 2008) For the second time in the AWCON, the Falcons were in the same group alongside South Africa. After drawing their first two group games, the Falcons needed an outright win against South Africa who had already qualified after winning two games. The Falcons won 1-0 win and qualification into the semi-finals, but they finished in third place, the first time they would fail to win the tournament. Hosts Equatorial Guinea emerged surprise champions. NIGERIA 2-1 S/AFRICA (GROUP STAGE: AWCON 2010) And for the third time, the Falcons and South Africa crossed path in the group stage this time in the 2010 AWCON held in South Africa. A 2-1 win for the Falcons earned them qualification into the semi-final with a game to spare. They made it to the final and beat Equatorial Guinea 4-2 to become champions for the sixth time. S/AFRICA 1-0 NIGERIA (S/FINAL: AWCON 2012) South Africa recorded their first ever victory against the Falcons following a 1-0 win in the semi-final of the 2012 edition in Equatorial Guinea. The Falcons met Cameroon in the third place match and lost 1-0. And in the final, South Africa were thrashed 4-0 by Equatorial Guinea who picked their second title. NIGERIA 2-1 S/AFRICA ((S/FINAL: AWCON 2014) At the 2014 AWCON in Namibia, the Falcons avenged their 2012 loss to South Africa with a 2-1 semi-final win. In the final, the Falcons beat Cameroon 2-0 to land their seventh title.
