I greet everybody o, how every The cold has been brutal, exam, oral defenses on top of the CFA I'm writing barely a week from now but God dey... Mekurexx, Fortissimo, Oludare I sight una. plauses, calfavour, cutemorgan and Riddy y'all owe me mails. I greet imperiouxx and Darefadi(London is my home).
And as for prospective students, this is the year of Trump which will make US policy fluid and in a state of flux at least for the next 4 yrs. There is at least going to be a potential crackdown on H-1B visas for encroaching on 'American jobs'. This has become a really clannish place.
Again build yourself, toughen up before coming here. A lizard in Nigeria will not turn to an alligator in North Dakota and you will not start pissing rosewater when you get here. If you are coming in for economics and you have no solid quantitative background be prepared to work thrice as hard or boy you are in for one hell of a ride.
I It has been up and down here, I have been robbed, I have been towed in front of a NLders apartment (cost me $300 give a few dollars the week a few bills were due) and I have been in an accident (20th Nov) which was ruled by my insurance company as a 50/50 even though I was hit from the back, I'm getting a lawyer and disputing that verdict and going for therapy as I have been unable to walk winksince the accident.

Wow! What is the name of your insurance company? Are you on liability coverage or Full coverage? If full coverage, abeg no gree o my brother. You've really had an adventurously dramatic experience by the way and may God heal you.

Please guys I have a question to ask...Is NYSC a necessary criteria to get admission in the US for Msc and won't it have any negative effects during visa application or interview?
Thanks.

It won't have negative effect on your visa application but you don't wanna be a 'limited' entity when you eventually come back home if you know what i mean.

Home is always home bro, don't rush.. get all necessary credentials, so you'll always be in good standing and your conscience at peace all the time.

why does he need a bank to do western union except if he is talking about a certified cheque (check) which is another option ...... he should just locate the nearest western union shop and go pay the sevis or walk into a post office and do a money order. i dont follow the 2 weeks he talking about . ....or has he done a runner with your money grin . just joking

did u check with bigfrancis21 , sirRiddy ,Texrem and walspring before sending it to your friend. any of these 3 might help u pay the Sevis .

lol, was about to reply same. That excuse sounds so fishy.

Finally, my visa was approved this morning. it's been a rough one for me but God has been faithful. I got three denials mid this year for Fall session and it was like I wasn't gonna make it thru again. But I thank God, that I ade it thru this last attempt.

Here goes my transcript:

VO: How are you doing?
ME: I'm great sir and you?

VO: Can you tell me your study plans?
ME: I'm going to Valparaiso University to study a Master's degree in International Commerce and Policy for the period of 18month. I will be taking up courses like International Trade, International Business, Economics, New Venture Creation and International Relations. These courses will equip me with the right skill set to be able understand the application of Business with Trade, Economics, International Relations and Public Policy. *VO cuts*

VO: Tell me about the programme
Me: Like I earlier said, the course is for a period of 18 months and I will be taking the aforementioned courses and at graduation, I must meet up to 3.0cgpa and must have completed 25 credit hours. *VO cuts*

VO: How many schools did you choose?
ME: 2 and the other is George Mason University, Fairfax, VA.

VO: Why did you choose Valparaiso University?
ME: During my research on the course, I found out that Valpo happens to be one of the few skls around the globe that offers such course with robust combinations of course from 4 areas such as Trade, Economics, International Relations and Public Policy. And I am *VO cuts*

VO: What did you study in your UG?
ME: Business Administration.

VO: from what skl?
ME: Lagos State University, Lagos.

VO: Why do you like Unilag?
ME: * I became confused here and told him to repeat the question*

VO: Why do you like Unilag?
ME: You mean Unilag? *VO replied YES* I didn't attend unilag, I attended Lagos State University which is also called LASU. It's LASU not Unilag

VO: okay okay.

VO: Valparaiso University and George Mason University are top schools in the US, why didn't you choose them then instead going for University of Bridgeport?
ME: *The Question confuse me small but I just started saying anything* After the denials I got, I just realized a course that perfectly suits my interest and that is International Commerce and Policy(ICP) and the course has to do with the connection of business with economics, trade, international relations and public policy. More so, ICP is more of a concentration of MBA and So I just had to make the switch. And after the completion of my programme, I will return back home to work with the Bank of Industry and see to how I can formulate strategies to help startups, SMEs grow in Nigeria.

VO: *nodding his head. Bringing out the white paper* okay okay. Just keep your i-20 safe because you will be needing it at POE.
ME: *with so much excitement* thank you very much sir and God bless you.

Thanks to DeeTus and texrem and other gurus in the house for their contributions. God bless you all.
Congrats!!!
I feel you

Oohkkk thanks...If you want to use Travelex at the Airport, would you have to go with the whole Naira Equivalent in cash for lets say you changing $4000 or they allow some kind of bank transfer option or POS payment??

Heard they are not selling at the moment but POS is the best, fastest and most recommended way of paying the naira equivalent. But the debit card has to be in the name of the applicant. You must also ensure that your bank doesn't cap usahe limits below the amount you'll be paying. It's better to contact your bank to verify the limit and/or increase it for you

GEICO is an awesome company tho according to the people that use em. Maybe there are some hidden clauses in your policy. Was paying $271/mo on Nationwide Liability coverage until I switched to state farm. State farm offered me $143/mo for full coverage. After you are done sorting this, try looking for a cheap full coverage insurance policy and you'd avoid stories like this.

Sorry about the mess.

Why are you guys paying that much for liability coverage shocked
Source around for better plans for similar or same coverage from insurance agents. What you're paying for liability is what some people pay for full coverage..or even less depending on the state. You're spending way too much on ordinary liability. And yeah..you should follow up through with your claim and get what you're supposed to get. Your premium might go up though

His premium is definitely going up. But before you are given a quote, there are so many stuff they'll consider. How busy your route is and your neighborhood (city) is definitely gonna affect your quote. Also your years of experience as a driver, sadly they only determine this through your US driver's license.

Even considering all that, it shouldn't be that high. Always consider shopping around for coverage. You'll save lot of money

Please is this a normal process everyone goes through or some special cases?
LagosismyHome:

It means you application is been reviewed further after the interview by a consular officer ............. Inorder words double checking your whole application . Nothing you can do but wait and hope that they stick to their initial decision of giving you the visa. If they spot any discrepancy then yes they can change and deny the visa .

Ahn Ahn, say wetin happen bros? Liability for that amount? Are you driving a 2015 CRV Jeep nii.

When you're been hit, you call the cops, they document who is at fault, if you're not the one, you take the policy number of the person and report to their insurance for reimbursement based on what you guys bargained. Also, you would called for health damages or amount you incurred for treatments as well.

Hello beloved people,
Please I am really traped in the WES Evaluation process. My documents has been sent back to waec for verification, for weeks now no change in the status of the evaluation. I guess waec hasn't received any document from them. I have been writing to them, demanding for a courier service to send the docs so as to expedite the process, but all my emails goes unanswered; I only receive an automated acknowledgement message. I am beginning to regret using WES for Evaluation, their own protocol is too long. The deadline for applications from international students is Dec. 1st in the school I applied to, and all documents must be received by the deadline. I have sent everything, but just this evaluation, and it's compulsory to be submitted.
Please do anyone have an idea of how I can contact WES, they are just frustrating my efforts here.

Sorry about your troubles but WES will not respond to your request for courier service and the verification that was sent to waec would be an electronic copy. Try contacting WAEC head office for confirmation. Do not assume WAEC didn't get it, you paid for WES service, they won't play around with your documents.

He's in Maryland and I'm paying $143/mo full coverage on a 2008 Toyota Camry in same state.

Sometimes its hard to figure out why some quotes are that crazy.

Nope it is a 2003 Saturn and insurance in MD is one of the most expensive in the country. I think there was not an insignificant amount of bias in the decision to award 50/50. Driving history(US) , experience counts a lot in this decision but I'm fighting it anyway

Yes, you're right. That's crazy, you should contact the insurance company of the person that hit you not your own insurance. Did you call the police during the incidence?

I am not registered under anybody at all. Checkout Jupiter Insurance ( they cover georgia, TN, Alabama, Oklahoma and Arkansas). Direct insurance is good too if they cover your area. Dang, my plate number will keep reading TN till I leave the US grin grin grin
