I think December will be good for NSE and that rally will extend to Oil stock on NSE but full flexible exchange rate policy will emerge by early next year.

Sir, the bolded is 90% factor blocking our unleashed growth and expansionary economy especially NSE when it comes to Nigeria situation.

You really believe this govt will float the naira, ok o I hope so.

The OPEC agreement is very good news for banks cause their NPLs must have been restructured towards crude price of $4x - $50 per barrel

If the government float the damn foreign exchange rate today, so many investors will be confident to bring in their currency and we will see tremendous FDI and FPI... grin

They have no choice other than float the currency fully but Emefeile must go to restore confidence in our economy.

I respectfully disagree with you. What was the reason why CBN agreed to manage float naira in the first place? Because foreign investors wanted it. What happened afterwards, investors shifted the goal post by saying the currency market is not flexible enough, hence the reason why they cannot bring in their currency. If CBN decides to fully float naira today, these investors will still not invest and will only engage in speculation of naira. They will find other ratinale to justify their position. Most investors will not commit their capital because Nigeria is still grappling with high trade imbalance, high inflation rate and other critical macro challenges. Fix these macro problems without devaluing your currency and see how foreign investors storm our economy in droves.

This oil won't benefit Nigeria!!!
Remember Nigeria is not pumping enough oil due to the Niger-delta crisis.

If we're doing 2million barrels par day @$40, we will be ok our way our of this economic crisis.

Sir, your point is well noted. The question on the bolded is how do we get there and without solving the issue surrounding foreign exchange, our economy will continue to suffer and stagnant. For now, we are import dependent country and we have to live with that reality at the moment.

So true
Investors got lots of confidence in other African countries than Nigeria.

No amount of Naira floating or Crude price increases will make them rush to Nigeria.

Mobile just sold 60% to Nipco, most oil coys are leaving. Even domestic investors leaving.

The economy is not stupid but the people running the economy are stupid.

As long as we this poeple in government, investors will stay away.

Nigeria remains unattractive for now.

Oga, ask LOCO, we have heard this same new some months ago and nothing changed.

what's the quantity of oil we are exporting, Focados and most export lines are down, PMB is planning to start importing from Niger Republic.

How do we benefit if we're not shipping enough crude
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by glogirl(f): 9:36pm On Nov 30, 2016
But I have a question ....
When foreign investors were pouring into the country in the last few years, the exchange rate was still pegged by CBN,no ?
I truly don't recall in the history of this country a floating exchange rate .
Why the sudden pressure from the foreign investors for Nigeria to float it's currency? Isn't this a legal form of blackmail because they know our reserves can never match our consumption?
Even if the currency is floated and it goes upto 1000, what guarantees do we have from them? Our currency went from 160 to 480 in one year and they still didnt come.
I bet you at 1000 they won't come too, if I were them I will wait for your reserve to deplete... it's getting there steadily.
I am not an economics scholar but we must solve our problems at the Fundamental level... refine crude, reduce imports, produce rice, in general drop our consumption of dollar. That is the only genuine and long lasting solution to our problem.

Chill a little bit and remember market will adjust to a new price ceiling by January and the main reason for this freeze is to dry the supply glut and Nigeria will shift ground also to benefit from this except Buhari is cursed by God himself.

I also disagree with you... The greatest mistake I made this year was not converting all my money in the market to USD when Peteriechy was screaming because I thought the oga at the CBN was a human being that had shame...

That being said, even if foreign investors don't come back immediately, it will lessen the pressure of Local Investors who are shorting the Naira at the moment... Check CBN statistics of $$$ deposits in dom accounts.... it has gone down by almost $7bn in the last one year because people dont even believe their dollar is safe in the bank anymore... The worst thing that can happen now if they don't float is that there will be an fx run on local banks like is happening in Zimbabwe today and $1 cash will have more value than $1 in your bank account which you cannot withdraw...

See! i don read una post one by one.......all of una tried for mouth.........na for legs and hands to work it out......one thing i want to add be say........if you have sunshine everyday, there will be drought at last.......when the price of oil which we solely depend on was high, our brothers on top refused to use the opportunity to diversify the economy, instead they misused the cash which would have help us to tackle a time like this...........the journey out of recession is never a day journey and to bring back our foreign investors back to the game is never a problem.......everyone wants his or her money to be useful .............LET THE PRICE OF OIL BE ON STEADY RISE AND REMAIN STEADY FOR LONG..........YOU AND YOUR ECONOMY WILL SMILE AGAIN........BLA BLA BLA BLA BLA........NIGERIA LIFE........NA OIL .........AS FISH LIFE NA WATER.............

We are all right, to call out Emefiele and Buhari( worst combo that poverty can bestow on a nation), but what amuses me most is the way the VP, who you would think is well educated, and full of great ideas, open his mouth to make pronouncement on issues purely in the purview of CBN is ridiculous. You can give order and send message to your boys (The gang at CBN) without telling it to the world that you control CBN.

We know the Buhari is intellectually disadvantaged but how about a learned person in the mould of Pastor Osinbade. Can't he deliver the message with some wisdom?

This MISFORTUNE(Buhari and his gang) has proven a simple thesis; corruption destroys a Nation but incompetence is faaaaaarrrr worse than corruption.

Foreign investors have since realised that Buhari has not Changed. They will be measured in coming to Nigeria under him. He has that tendency to bring you into Nigeria in a crate(Dikko style. If you know what i mean).

This was planned for mid-2016, then pushed till year end. Now its 2017Q1. The God of Osinbajo would have shamed this Govt if they do it this year, under the DSS Controlled FX market. It would have been a epic failure. The template is right there in Venezuela.

Reflecting on how far the good God has brought us over against all odds (for the challenges, good, better and best of 2016) in this year, it is a privileged declaration to say THANK YOU GOD. There’s nothing to give God that will b enough concerning his faithfulness, mercy, favor, blessings, and grace, but THANK YOU GOD. As we witness this last month of the year, your promised in Isaiah 54: 10, which stated “For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the LORD that hath mercy on thee” …shall remained with us forever!
Wishing everyone safe and journey mercy of December 2016 and best of 2017!
