Yea... Could be quite hectic if you're traveling alone. But in all of this, the aim to save as much as possible. I will advice you go for the direct flight if you can afford it comfortably, though the prices might drop further later in the year.

Good luck!

boluwagin:

Thank boldinc! But wouldn't it be penny wise... considering if it a night arrival flight and I have to stay in an hotel till the next day or an early departure flight which means I have to be in Washington a day before also the luggage stress with a baby as I will be alone? I saw the direct for 560k but I was hoping to get something cheaper.

Answer
1. Buy your ticket ahead of time make sure it is at least 5hrs after landing at JFK to give room for immigration. From my experience it is usually tacky buying at the airport if you don't have a card that can be charged.
The shortest route from JFK to Houston is usually Charllot ie JFK-Charlot-Houston with a 2 hours wait time at Charlot

2. Book one way incase you have to change your international leg so you don't have to start changing that leg too to save money

3 it is not compulsory to get both but ensure you get the usa passport from their first then use either an emergency travel certificate or Nigerian visa to get your LO home. Then when you get to Nigeria you go get Nigerian passport

4 for the car seat buy it in the states it's cheaper and go with it on the day of delivery.

I hope I have been able to help out

Good morning mama's, FTM here. Please I'm trying to understand a few things.kindly assist .
1.When traveling and say JFK is my POE but final destination is Houston, can I get a flight at the airport or do I have to book ahead of time?
2.Which route would you advise to book at that point(one way or round trip)?
3.I noticed mama's processing both the US and naija passport for the LOs.Is it compulsory to process the naija passport and why?
4.As regards the LOs carseat,do i buy it from Lagos or in the US.Because I could tell from the forum that some hospitals require you to provide one before leaving the hospital.

Thanks so much.

There are lots of them depends on what you want in your plan, just go to any retailer and demand for a cheap monthly plan
but if you want to make calls out of usa always buy a call card then for usa and Canada calls use Skype
That is how run my call show over there

Thanks so much.

In addition to what has been said, buying from Lagos will mean that you can only check in one bag as most airlines will not check it in free if there is no infant ticket for it.

From JFK, you can take a bus to La Guardia airport NY, There is direct to Houston from La Guardia. Its like a local wing of JFK.

Thank you KaptainAfrica. But i felt my baby and DH will serve as a tie back here. Quite confused really. Pls help clarify!

KaptainAfrika:
Reapply with your 10 month old son.
You are either going for vacation or childbirth. So just say childbirth.
You will get it by God's grace, reapply with your 10 month old son, and just stick to childbirth.
