Definitely the exorcist (1973) till date ,highest grossing horror film .

There's a scene where the phone rings ...just that alone I jumped out of my skin. Had to ask my Neigbour back then in DELSU to walk me to my house . For a week I kept on hearing the girl's laughter in my head during classes . I asked my Neigbour and he confirmed that the same thing happened to him .

I read somewhere that members of the original cast of the story died mysteriously .

Another close second is " the thing " the old one ,saw it as a kid ,messed me up . They showed it again on TCM during Halloween I skipped it . however it doesn't scare me anymore because the graphics are very poor by today's standards ,my brothers and I laugh at it now tho .

I try not to watch these movies not that I'm scared just that they mess with ur head .

Most of those films are not scary, just stupiid. eg, Serbian film; storyline is wack. Just that it has disturbing scenes. Martyrs is bloody: kids killed graphically.

In recent times, that would be the movie. . ."the woman in black". That film scared the shi.t out of me.
