I'm really sorry for dropping this transcript very late. i have always dreamt of dropping a really long and juicy transcript, but i have noticed how impatient i get when reading lengthy transcripts therefore; i'd make this as laconic as possible. lets cut to the chase, here is the conversation between Christian and the cute V.O:

V.O: Good Morning. Pass me your passport and your sevis ID
Me: Here(i dey try arrange the thing with confidence, but the VO come say "don't worry, just pass it "
V.O: How did you find this school?
Me: (i dey happy because of my rehearsed lines) i first heard about this school through my erstwhile lecturer and mentor, Prof Idowu. i then went further to check out the school through NASPPA research journal, and further streamlined my search using my research interest.
V.O: what would this degree do for you?
Me: It would give me the necessary skills needed to take up a lecturing job at the University of Ibadan, where I earned my B.Sc. I would also be able to consult for both the Federal and state government through the Nigerian Institute of Social and Economic Research (NISER).
V.O: who is sponsoring you?
Me: My dad
V.O: what does he do?
Me: He is a successful publisher and the CEO of Christain plc with 4 locations both in Lagos and Ibadan. he also deals in automobiles.

V.O: Brings out white paper... adebimpe and Professor Charles don give me and Valentine the virtual White paper so e no even strange , but i confirm wetin you guys dey always talk; i think i went deaf at that point. i just collected my paper and zoomed off, smiling.

i wont mention names any more, i'd just thank everyone at this point. i still remember my first post like it was yesterday. i remember Malory84 answering some of my first ever questions , as dumb as they were then. i love all of you mehn. i hope to hook up with some of you soon especially Bobority grin grin. the babe fine meeeeeehhhnnnn

TO the ones going for interview soon, i say be VERYYYYYYYY confident. notice my stress. even if you are yearning dust, yearn am with confidence. stare back confidently at the VOs. they are humans like you. Finally and most importantly, PRAY like your life depends on it because in the end, it all boils down to favour and grace. A lot of people were denied mehn. infact, in my row, i was the only first timer. dem don deny almost those guys. i wish i could type more, but i would drop more hint later on sha.

Big congrats to you. Public Administration is a wonderful course. People think its not lucrative. Lol (I Laugh at them in french). My advice to you; you wont see alot of international students. You might be the only one. 90% whites. But thats fine. They can be very nice and approachable. Your professors will know you by name. Which will help you later. Especially if you always participate in discussing the readings.Class sizes are usually very small. Your course mates would be mostly matured peeps. So lectures are more like conversations. Try and chip in some lines to the convos. But it means studying your readings.(Those are the hardest i tell you. Its a whole lot).Sometimes they merge with PHD students. So it gets really intense. But the good thing is you can take advantage of it. Most of them work in very wonderful places. So just be nice and network well. I already have two people from my class ready to help me with internship in their departments. Just get along nicely, but don't force it. Goodluck!

After one semester, I thank God for my story so far. It's been 4 months and 10 days since I got here. All the JJC enthusiasm has cleared and I've blended into the system like I've been living here all my life. All the things I used to be wowed about has cleared haha, I only remember America is beautiful only when I skype with my Naija friends and I compare what I'm seeing on my screen to what I see when I go out. I don't notice anything again. I can now say "Nothing is there again" because I'm used to the life but oh boy, something is here ooo.

On the academic level, As lazy as I am, I was able to get A,B,B in the 3 courses this semester. See, don't even stress yourself too much, education here (I'm speaking based on my school and department) isn't as hard as the nonsense sadness in Nigeria. Just dedicate time to study and put in your best, you'll be fine. Lecturers actually try their best to make sure you pass and classmates are helpful, your classmates won't see you as competition lol, nobody get time to be best for class and carry shoulder up.

To those using their last card to secure admission and visa, If you're coming here without funding and expecting God to take control, YOU ARE IN FOR A BIG SURPRISE. The moment you get that visa, start networking and thinking about what you're going to do once you land here. If you don't know anyone here and you want to take that risk, my brothers and sisters... please consider it well. I'm not a dream killer but to chase a risky dream, you must be really prepared as the odds are NOT in your favor at all. See, just stay at home if you don't have a plan o.

To those who say "I can't wait to see snow in my life chai, I'm gonna love it". See, snow is just fine in pictures and on TV. The cold is going to sama your brain back to your village. They will be begging you to go outside sef haha. I did macho man, wore ordinary T-shirt to class one day when the temperature was 41 degrees Fahrenheit, see... God will not let your family go through what I went through that day haha. I still took it like a man sha but chei... gbogbo toko tepon mi lo gan pa.

What's my advice for prospective students? I repeat, the American dream is for smart and determined people. Start making friends with positive people once you've made your decision to come here. Any weyrey that's thinking like ode, no be fight, just ignore them. Do Nigeria proud and be nice to people, be nice to everyone.

Finally, This is the most important advice: (No offence intended) BE NICE TO FAT PEOPLE. They are better than silver or gold.

Sureb0y,
Thank God you said 'your department and school'.
My friends in other schools said they study together.
I still find it hard to believe this is happening but I studied alone this semester. I tried talking to some grad students if we could study together and they gave me a blatant 'no' with a good follow up 'be independent'. That pushed me to study very hard.
If you're good and dedicated to your studies, the system will reward you. Unlike in Nigeria where you will jack and at the end, one saddist will give you a C.

If you're smart, you shouldn't get less than A-. It's not an easy ride anyway. Atleast I'm glad you've tasted the system first hand to see that the whole bull crap spewed in Nigeria that American system is easy. Oga, sureboy sef don see say America no easy. You better come with your money, it's winter, you don't want to be homeless. No joy for America o.

No international airport in little Rock or in Arkansas, you fly to DFW, Atlanta or St Louis then you can take a connecting flight to Clinton National Airport at Little Rock

i will not recommend this university (i think i have mentioned it to you before or maybe not ) ......... International students , the Dollar is very high so pick good schools or at least a standard public University with at least an ok job recruitment prospect because LIFE AFTER GRADUATION Is even more important than student days ....

Personally i feel there are some schools that when u finish to find a job with h1B will be a huge struggle . Stafford University among others come to mind .......and then if it is a course like MBA , that is so competitive , to find job with Strafford "not to small work oo "
Good morning ma, hope you've been good?
Please what do you think about the following schools for msc in animal science, Nmsu, Arkansas State University and University of Minnesota. Thanks in advance.

So I got my TOEFL result dis morning! Bad thing is I never had the chance to report my scores to the institutions freely as I thought its like GRE where I report my scores after the exams .I d have to fork out $80 which I don't have the luxury of. Now the good side is I got a decent score of 92. Though I don't understand jack about the result interpretation. Summary is how good is TOEFL score of 92 writing 25; listening 23 reading 22 speaking 22 for funding opportunities.

A bright morning to everyone!

I scheduled a visit to meet some professors in Purdue University so I can discuss the opportunity of getting funds for my application for Masters in Food science.

I will DEEPLY appreciate if the 'Senior friends' in house can help me with tips. I have gone through few earlier posted but wouldn't mind more useful info or a link that will make the search less stressful.

Thanks & God bless
